My favorite book Of Tess Gerritsen is The Bone Garden. I especially loved traveling from the present and then to the past as the story unfolds. The surprises though out the book are numerous. I really enjoyed reading this book.

I buy anything with Tim Lebbon's name on the cover. I still think DESOLATION is an underappreciated masterpiece.

Great interview. Brian and Mary opening their own bookstore was the perfect trajectory for their careers. I hope it really works out for them. Would love to patronize his shop if we lived closer.

Great interview. I sold a book to Wizards of the Coast in 2005, and we were all set to go for a release the next year. They were so thrilled with it they wanted my submission for a second novel, which I got to work on immediately. My advance was $5000. Know what the marketing was? They sent me a CD that had some advice on booking self promotional gigs. Then, the editor changed, and abruptly it was radio silence. I reached out and finally got a response after much poking and prodding to learn that WOTC decided to can the entire line of spec fiction I was to be published under and call it a day. I shopped the same novel to other publishers and no one wanted to touch it. The entire business is ridiculously subjective, and just because there's a major company that wants to make money off of you, it does not mean you will be set to go. The most meaningful memory for me about the whole thing with WOTC was that Brian and I were in communication at the time, and I was and still am a huge fan of his, and he told me he would blurb my book for me. This meant the world to me at the time as a young author. So thank you, Brian. And great interview, Robert!

Really enjoyed hearing all this, guys. I'm heading out on that same journey myself, trying to figure it all out. Still a bit lost, but I'm starting to wrap my head around it. Cheers!
