Dynamic Infant Movement For Baby Reflux with Emily Swann
In this episode, we dive into part two of the baby reflux series with Emily Swan, a nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Emily shares her personal journey as a mom navigating silent reflux with her daughter and how it inspired her to integrate holistic practices like bodywork and nutrition into her approach to infant health. We discuss practical tips for addressing posture, movement, and environment to support babies with reflux and empower parents to take a proactive role in their baby’s healing. This episode is a great listen whether you’re dealing with reflux, colic, or just want to learn how to support your baby’s well-being naturally!
Emily Swann is a wife, mother, nurse and Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. What started out as a career as a NICU nurse quickly turned into a love for holistic wellness outside the hospital system and her passion is helping women and babies breastfeed through holistic lactation work. Emily incorporates bodywork and nutrition as key pillars for infant health and looks at the dyad of mother and baby as one rather than two separate parts.
We talk about:
Emily's personal experience with reflux with her daughter, and what she believes to have been the root of the reflux
Explanation of dynamic infant movement
How oral restrictions can impact reflux
Emily's tips for moms to do bodywork on their own babies/children
Outsourcing motherhood with informed decision making

    So I’ve struggled with anemia and was told to take b12 and iron. I’ve had issues with having pvc’s non stop lately. I’ve had it in the past and cardiologist and bloodwork didn’t show anything at the time. Later on though I was found to be anemic. I thought it was from that. The other day the arrhythmias were driving me nuts. I started to read about b12 and found that it can decrease potassium. I stopped taking the b12 and started eating potatoes to try to see if that helped. The pvc’s have almost completely stopped. I’m wondering if it’s low potassium causing it now.

    • @HormoneHealingRD
      @HormoneHealingRD 11 днів тому

      I’ve only seen that with B12 injections but I’m happy to hear you saw an improvement. Maybe your potassium levels are really low and that’s why it’s contributing. I have seen an increase in potassium help with PVCs. Those are usually the clients that have very very low levels of potassium both in blood work and on their hair test. Hope that helps!

    Used 6mg of Boron for 2 weeks, and felt the benefits quickly. The inflammation (most likely connected with my psoriasis) went down, joint pains were almost gone, and my libido went up buuut noticed sleep issues, waking up too many times at night. Switching to 3mg after taking a break for a weak. Boron has great potential.

    Great video!! The world's soils are extremely depleted of many vital nutrients. It has been estimated that 1/3 of the world's soils are void of zinc, which equates to an almost 50% zinc deficiency!! Personally, I no longer feel that we can get everything our bodies need from foods, Thus making it imperative to supplement.

    Since Vitamin D is the master immune modulator hormone in it's active state, and iodine is part of the immune system presumably regulated by the genes controlled by vitamin D, how important is high vitamin D levels to be able to properly use iodine? Many of the practitioners I watch on UA-cam like Dr. Berg and Dr. David Jockers who feel that the optimum levels are higher than once thought: meaning 80 nanograms per milliliter of blood being optimal and if you have cancer ramp it up to 100 nanograms. Also vitamin D needs cofactors to work properly like magnesium and boron. Could some of the problems with iodine be because people have low vitamin D levels and the immune system's genes are not awake to deal with it. Also Dr. Roger Seheult at Medcram has a two hour video on why sunlight is medicine, as he references near infrared light that is required for the mitochondria to clean up Reactive Oxygen Species from ATP energy production because the near infrared radiation stimulates the mitochondria to make melatonin that never leaves the mitochondria hence this is a recent discovery. ua-cam.com/video/5YV_iKnzDRg/v-deo.html Melatonin is the mop to clean up oxidative waste from energy production. Now that incandescent bulbs that do give off near infrared light is outlawed by government run amock and people getting little sunlight especially in winter could dirty mitochondria be part of this puzzle?

    Hi, I recently took a HTMA-test because I in late october experienced an acute depression with cognitive dysfunction and fatigue so serious that it only reminded me of when I tried going on the pill last yeaar and suffered from crying spells and hopelessness two weeks after quitting the pill, but this time there were no pill. I thought I had an hormonal imblanace, maybe copper toxicity as I have had copper IUD for 7 years. Right before this depression I had a stressful work weekend followed by a stressful week _and_ a high sugar diet combined with my period, we are talking brownies for breakfast and lunch for two straight days. My test results shows I'm a "fast 4" with depleted calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium etc. Only my copper levels are normal, haha! So I kept the IUD. Everything else is so low. My question is, could the awful depression I experienced be precisely this burnout that my HTMA-test shows I am having/that I had? My cognition is better now and so is my crying, but my anxiety has been so high because I didn't know what was "wrong" with me. Now I realize I need to stress DOWN. I am terrified of loosing my mind. Btw I have been listening a lot to your episodes as it gives me som peace of mind that there is some "hard facts" behind these symptoms. I was a bit shocked when I heard I was the fastest of them all, but maybe I am taking my stress too lightly or maybe my nervous system is extra sensitive ...

    • @HormoneHealingRD
      @HormoneHealingRD Місяць тому

      You can have hidden copper imbalances on an HTMA, especially when you are a fast 4 with the four lows pattern you are describing. When you are a fast 4 it means your adrenals and thyroid are exhausted but your nervous system is still in fight or flight. When paired with the low mineral pattern, it’s a sign of burnout. I wonder if there are possibly some hidden copper imbalances impacting your mood along with a decreased ability to handle stress. Low minerals will mean you have a lower capacity to handle stress, which sounds like it is definitely a piece of the puzzle. You can also get inflammation from the copper IUD, which doesn’t just stay where the IUD is. It can be systemic and impact things like mental health. I’m guessing it is likely a combination of things contributing to your symptoms.

    • @rysekolonko
      @rysekolonko Місяць тому

      @@HormoneHealingRDThank you so much for answering me! Hidden imbalance will mean the copper is stored other places in the body, right? I’m thinking of removing my IUD just in case it effects my ability to handle stress. Is it ever possible to keep a copper iud while managing an imbalance, or is the solution to always remove that object? 😊

  • @bashhole213

    I started taking iodine for dense breast tissue and fibroids and endometriosis, also fertility. After taking 12.5-26mg lugols iodine for 6 months, my TSH decreased from 1.99(before iodine) to .0337.. tpo antibodies decreased from 28 to 11 but RT3 increased from 15 to 18, T3 decreased from 3.5 to 3. I had 1 small endometrioma before starting iodine and grew 3 more during supplementation. My loading test after 6 months showed 65% excretion, 2.5% bromide. I reduced the dose to 12.5 mg but it seems it has done the opposite of what it should for me. It's quite confusing and frustrating. My selenium levels are borderline high and I've been adding loads of sea salt to my water for over 2 years. I don't get it.

    • @HormoneHealingRD
      @HormoneHealingRD 2 місяці тому

      Part of me wonders if the iodine was too much for your body and you would have done better on a lower dose. It sounds like there were definitely some positive shifts with reduction in antibodies but that your system was a little too stressed and that led to a higher reverse T3. I’m not sure if you have an HTMA to compare to as well. I base dosing off HTMA, blood work, and iodine loading. Are you in my Master Your Minerals course? If so, can you post this question in there and then I can send follow up questions to learn more about your health history, nutrition, etc. and figure out the best approach.

    Have had issues with oxalates and kidney stones. Having oxalate containing foods with clarified butter helps, but still have to avoid large containing oxalates. Maybe potassium will help as you suggested.

    How does this affect alpha lipoic acid and nadh+ in the cellular respiration or citric acid cycle? Would you suggest supplementing with potassium before adding those other things to increase sugar metabolism and perhaps oxygenation in the cell?

    • @HormoneHealingRD
      @HormoneHealingRD 2 місяці тому

      Potassium impacts enzymes that are important for the citric acid cycle and glucose metabolism. I would focus on increasing food sources of potassium first. If you are deficient in minerals that impact enzymes in the body, it makes the most sense to me to work on minerals first, primarily from food.

  • @KR-os6nn
    @KR-os6nn 3 місяці тому

    What if there are food intolerances? Do you have specific enzymes that you recommend for beans? I tested as IgG sensitive to tomatoes. Edit to add: also have a reaction within hours to fructose from fruit like apples, even just a quarter apple.

    • @HormoneHealingRD
      @HormoneHealingRD 2 місяці тому

      Then I would focus on animal food sources of potassium. You don’t have to eat foods you are sensitive to to increase potassium levels. Focus on meat and dairy. My clients with digestive issues often do really well with aloe vera inner leaf juice, which is an excellent source of potassium and calming for an inflamed gut.
