Anyone who is sending a distress call should be stating the details including location and time and any pertinent details. Before you say this you should repeat Mayday 3 times on the appropriate channel which is 16 or 156.8 MHz ) and on MF 2182 kHz . State your name location and what the emergency is and the number of people on board.
or you just have AIS enabled and say "this is fishing vessel X, check your AIS and you can see my exact location"
