Erica's Myspace Phone

Erica was my friend on Myspace before it went extinct. She put up a Myspace phone for friends to leave messages on her page. I started the ball rolling by leaving a clip of John Lennon talking about The Beatles and her other nutty friends added to the story. I put together the video and recently found it again in a folder. Enjoy!

John Purdell & Lace - Wrong Crowd 1981
Pretty voice. Almost sounds like Michael Stype....great song man. I wasn't expecting to like it that much.
He’s hitting fucking ghost notes on the drums. Such a fucking bass player. I love him! Musical genius!😂❤
I love how he looks at the drumsticks twice and is like "it's very short".
My band opened for Lace 2x in the san Fernando valley... john purdell my music hero .... r.i.p.
as someone who was classically trained in percussion, I love hearing “non-drummers” play drums. The fills he played, especially the first one, were really interesting and creative
Non drummers, yes. But non musicians, no. Non drummers at least can play other instruments. Non musicians are terrible because of the lack of musical knowledge.
@ good point

Paul got some dope pocket 🥁
Those tamborine upbeats are coming from somewhere else, right? Like they're jamming with a drum machine?
Hello Mr. Adam
Yeah, it's another track being played. 0:26, you can see he stops playing and the tambourine is still going
everywhere i go i see adam
A moment of silence for those who think he was the best drummer in The Beatles 😅
Without weighing in on that particular question, I will point out the obvious that he's just screwing around in this video. His actual performances on several Beatles songs and several dozen solo/Wings songs would be more informative. For example, I think the drums on Band On the Run are pretty great. I think prime Ringo was pretty great too.
@@aragusea For the record, I don't think this is bad drumming. They are decent grooves, but you can clearly see he is playing outside his comfort zone, concentrating a lot, and holding it together. But there are people out there who even go so far as to say that Paul secretly recorded all the drum tracks for The Beatles or that Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the band. The thought of Paul playing I Feel Fine or She Said, She Said based on this video, is absolutely ludicrous. It would be like asserting that Ringo was actually a better singer than the others because he wasn't bad at it and did some singing on the records. I think the drums are not that great on Back in the USSR or The Ballad of John and Yoko. Dear Prudence is a great drum performance. I know there's some debate about who does the fills at the end. If it was indeed Paul then he does an excellent job. The drums on Band on the Run are also great, but still quite a bit more rigid than Ringo's playing.
Pete was the only Best drummer in The Beatles even though Richard was better.
Paul is technically fine. He can keep time and throw in a full every now and then. But there’s no heart to his playing. It all just feels very lifeless. Ringo’s playing evokes so much emotion and fits the mood of every song perfectly.
@@CrappyCartoons underrated comment
Saw them in san diego
I love this woman so much
Paul played the drums on “Back in the U.S.S.R.”, “Dear Prudence”, “Martha My Dear” and “The Ballad of John and Yoko”. He could have been the drummer lf the beatles if it fancied him
He didn't drum on "Martha My Dear"
@@tommckibbin4564 Yes, Paul McCartney played the drums on "Martha My Dear." Although the song features a piano-driven arrangement, McCartney recorded the drum part himself, showcasing his versatility as a musician.
Does anyone know the title to this track ???
victim of you
Can somebody make an AI restoration and remix of this song?
Paul is a "drummer" wheras Ringo is a "percussionist."
Better than Ringo!
Don’t be stupid.
@@stephengoulding1595 Ringo couldn't end a phrase on the an-of-one if his life depended on it.
@@musopaul5407 what makes you think he can’t 😂
@@thatguyoverthere6063 Give me an example where he did...
@@musopaul5407 so paul ending a beat on the an of one automatically makes him a better drummer than ringo? i’ll tell you one thing, paul could never play the drum parts to i feel fine, rain, strawberry fields, happiness is a warm gun, oh darling just to name a few. not to mention paul could not play a shuffle and would often overdub the shit out of his drum parts especially on band on the run. as much as i love paul, he is nowhere near ringo in terms of drumming it is not even close.
Thanks! I saw him perform with Janet Klein. 🙂😎
he plays right handed.... being a drummer myself that's very strange
paul does practically everything with his right hand, but, as a teenager, he discovered that he found it easier to play just guitar and bass with his left hand
@@estevaodasilva8355 It's not true. He eats, writes, and even when he takes photos, he uses his left eye. The real reason he plays the drums backwards is that he learned on Ringo's drums, which were not left-handed, and to avoid reversing them every time, he learned that way. He did the same thing with John. Initially, having only one guitar in the band, he had to adapt and learned to play with the strings reversed.
@@estevaodasilva8355his piano playing is also benefiting from his strong left hand
@@rinzl3r01_3 nop paul take pictures with both eyes, Paul used to play drums like a left handed in a right handed drum set it means to play the hi hats with the left hand and the snare with right hand. when macca get his first guitar learn to play with the strings reversed cos' then change it. He born left but the piano makes him ambidextrous
My grandma is left handed but learnt to be right handed because being left handed wasnt allowed when she was a child@estevaodasilva8355
Paul really isn’t a bad drummer. I think he’s definitely gotten better through the years as well, I’m sure people know but Paul drummed for the foo fighters on their song “Sunday rain” in 2017 and he rocked. Very talented man he is
If he was taleneted why did he get better throught the years? Its all skill,
@@rimmersbryggeri he has a natural ability for rhythm that most people can’t replicate or have. Just because you can get better or improve at something doesn’t mean you don’t have a natural talent to start to with.
@@sinclair4626 I just find it more respectful to aknowledge the 100s of thousands of hour of being a musician that has made him the musician he is rather than some alledged natural ability.
@@rimmersbryggeri I’m not really sure why you seem offended by me acknowledging that Paul has a natural gift. Anyways I’m not gonna argue in the comments we can just respectfully agree to disagree I guess.

Nice job Paul!
George Martin used to Say Paul is a First class drummer
great musician. Salute
I know people are noting his drumming on a select few Beatles tracks but some are forgetting that he drummed on all of Band on the Run, parts of London Town, the first two McCartney albums, a few songs on Tug of War (like the title track and Ballroom dancing among others) and countless more, including recently Egypt Station and McCartney III. The man could drum!
The drums in Despite repeated warnings is so amazing
Paul also drummed on My Dark Hour for Steve Miller and Sunday Rain for the Foo Fighters
Tane have bravo voice.
He played drums on Back In The USSR
And Dear Prudence - composite though
And on the ballad of John and yoko
Nasty good.
I remember the same feeling one Christmas back in the early 70s in PA! One of the best presents ai ever got.
name song? and originaly band?
no way this guy did the outro drumming on Dear Prudence
He did. 1st off he’s just messing around here. 2nd, there is no way Ringo could have done it. He was out of town and all the notes taken during it say Paul did it
@@ewest14Ringo overdubbed it when he came back. Paul's original drumming for that part could be heard through John's headphones from the vocal track. And let me tell you, it was VERY basic. The fills were very plain. The fills at the end genuinely sound like Ringo's because they have the slightly "swingy" feel to them anyways.
The guy can play anything.
Wow!
He’s said himself that he’s a basic drummer and a bit stiff at times…but I’m not going to judge him on 30 seconds of idle jamming
Doesn’t get much better than that! Thanks Santa 🎅🏻
Shes perfect!
Way to go Billy!
Billy just so talented.
Christmas meant coats and snow not mini bikes for us. Maybe a sled surely not a mini bike.

Awesome track.
Very nice cover...great job.
Miss you! The letters that your writing does mean your not dead.
that lil fill in the beginning was so groovy. he’s a pretty guud drummer considering drums aren’t his main or first instrument.
I know he even played drums on songs like back in the ussr and old brown shoe Guy is a musical genius, so talented
You can ALWAYS tell when Paul's on the drums in The Beatles because he's always a little behind the beat, giving the songs a slight "funk" feel.

I remember this earthquake very well. I lived in Yorba Linda with my mom and dad. I was 8 and a half, later in the year I would turn 9. It was scary but I had my mom and dad and I lived through it. I'm 60 now and live in Northern California and I have felt at least 3 quakes, they're still scary but, oh, well. Love from Marysville, California
Is this in San Diego?!?
Thanks, that brought back some good memories. I was one of those kids.
