Take Shelter (2011) scenes in Oberlin, Ohio
Jeff Nichols' 2011 film "Take Shelter" was filmed in Lorain County in Ohio during the summer of 2010. These two scenes in particular were filmed in Oberlin, Ohio, inside and in the parking lot behind Dave's Army/Navy, which closed later that year at the end of August.

In the September 30, 2014 episode (season 4 episode 2) of Person of Interest on CBS, the titular "person of interest" was an Oberlin College sophomore majoring in Mathematics. Later in the episode, she is described as "fearless", which made me laugh.

This was performed for a large audience, and as a result, I was limited in my ability to position the camera to capture everyone involved in the performance. Touching the camera to pan would have been very jerky and would have affected the audio. So, I apologize if you were performing and you are not in this video!
The Many Faces of Terrance (Canon EOS 7D Test)

My co-worker, Terrance (the Assistant Director of Web Operations at Oberlin College). This video is shaky because I was hand-holding the camera. I have since learned to always use a tripod. Captured with the Canon EOS 7D, at 1080p24. Encoded with QuickTime at 4Mbps prior to upload.

The Machine to Build the Machines

In 1986, NeXT saw the possibility of fitting all the power and technology of the most advanced computer workstations into a one foot cube. To accomplish this, we aggressively pursued Surface Mount Technology, a process which would allow us to build an entire computer system onto one printed circuit board. This set into motion a plan to build the most sophisticated manufacturing system ever empl...
HBO's John Adams - Thomas Jefferson and John Adams' faith in humanity
Переглядів 1,1 млн15 років тому
A scene from HBO's John Adams miniseries in which Thomas Jefferson and John Adams illustrate their differences of opinion on having faith in humanity.
fun fact Jefferson owned around 400-600 slaves.....
"Anarchy. I think the world needs anarchy," Jefferson mused. "I don't even believe in our own revolution anymore." "You know, I like you," Adams responds, "but you're sounding crazy right now. There have to be rules." "Both of you, shut up," said Franklin, as he gazed at a young French maid. "I don't have my spectacles, but I think I see cleavage."
Here in 2024 having lost faith in my fellow americans
to steal a line from another movie with Stephen Dillane, "we are so fucked."
“You sir are a walking contradiction.” Well said about Thomas Jefferson.
One of the most amazing things about Adams and Jefferson is that they both died on the same day - July 4, 1826. The fraternal twins of the new American government.
And now the US is run by corrupt retards.
God I love Thomas Jefferson….
Jefferson moggs fiction
Needless to say this is pure gold
I still have a NeXT workstation with all of this software and matching hardware, it's truly amazing that the computer is over 30 years old and can still do pretty much everything we need one to do today except for http protocol needs because that was very new at the time and the web has changed so much since NeXT was sold to Apple in the late 90s.
I remember those days. Windows 3.1 was very ugly compare to this. And WordPerfect was so advance for its time until Microsoft crushed it with their marketing strategy.
Jefferson and Adams. One a slaveholder, one opposed to slavery. Lifelong friends who both died on the same day... On the 50th anniversary of the signing of the DOI.
This screams Mac OSX
I love Jefferson... my favorite President. It breaks my heart to think that if he was to rise up today they would probably think he was a radical nut job. I don't think the modern day press would give him the time of day. Probably the same goes for the rest of the Founders.
Yes, and you display a dangerous excess of faith in your fellow man. Boy isn't that the truth.
Stannis really is the true king here.
It’s foolish to have faith in humanity, they’ll fail and disappoint you every time. Put your Faith in God. That’s the proper place to put your Faith. In God. He will never fail you. The Lord is always triumphant.
A person can be smart, but people are dumb dangerous creatures and you know it!… MIB 1
Stannis’ actor always seems to show up in the most random of shows and movies.
Jefferson was for small lesser government, Adams was for larger stronger government.
Thomas Jefferson was right. Governments are inherently evil. " The people have 2 enemies, The government and criminals. We have the Constitution to protect the first from becoming the second" Thomas Jefferson
Hmm....if only someone were to come up with a list of rights which common man have, atleast with respect to how a ruling government can treat those they rule? That would be a fine compromise.
I wonder what they'd all be saying in the age of Trump. I just saw a news clip where a Nebraska voter stated -- with a straight face -- that Trump is a man who "sticks by his word." It was all I could do to keep my brain from exploding! Adams would probably die of shock.
Thats Insane Imaging this Quality in the 80s back thank
Father of the greatest piece of literature convincing the world of freedom while owning slaves. Contradicting indeed.
Do they show Thomas’ slaves???
those are most fundamental arugments between leftists and righists.
One objection to the Constitution was that any right not specifically listed would not be protected.
God, how i wish to have met Thomas Jefferson. Mind-blowing 🫡
Better than windows 11...
Stannis the mannis
Their design requires itelligent and moral citizens. Or at least those willining to sacrifice more than we are. Oh well try again in 2000 years.
and this is why the US Constitution is a living document that has amendments
the first Federalist vs. Democratic-Republican debate
Thomas Jefferson's Letter to Henry Tompkinson (1816) "Let us follow no such examples, nor weakly believe that one generation is not as capable as another of taking care of itself, and of ordering its own affairs." - Thomas Jefferson (Proposals to Revise the Virginia Constitution: I. July 12, 1816)
If heaven exists, after paying my dues the first thing I’m asking God is to be introduced to Thomas Jefferson. That’s when my education will begin.
😅 a system that everybody wish someone would buy it for them so they can look cool like Steve Jobs 😂 = it was to f’in expensive !!!
whats the difference between this and masturbation?
An OS advanced 30 years ahead.
These men talked as if they were gods creating the world. Indeed they created a country and tried to think way ahead of their times. Such deep conversations are missed in Washington. I bet if they were alive and saw what is discussed today they would throw up every single meal they had since they were born.
Es espectacular, y preciosa esa NextStep del año '91 viéndola ahora en el 2024 estoy sorprendido de la gran diversificación de esa computadora, y lo he visto todo! Gracias por el video, excelente!
Thomas Jefferson was ahead f his time and his ideas proved correct while Adams and the federalists hurt the country in the long run.
whig or federalist?
Unix based so this really later became OSX? I had no idea I was too busy troubleshooting DOS and Windows.
back when the brightest minds ran things.
Expensive & proprietary. Choices are better today.
He was such a snake oil salesman. Those dumb phones have done so much damage to computing.
In 1992 this must have been amazing. I bought a pallet of Next stuff at auction for a few hundred bucks in 2002 that had a Cube and a couple of pizza box workstations with greyscale monitors in 2002 running this version, and it still felt way ahead in usability than the early version of MacOS X at the time.
That music for his son is from Cinema Paradiso.
