Worked in the Self Storage industry for a looong time. Buying units at auction used to be so niche and so profitable. Before Storage Wars became a hit show, I never saw a unit go for more than $100 and for years the same 5 guys came once a month to bid on units. Knowing each other well and knowing each others resale preferences, they would keep the bids low so they all would make very good money when all was said and done. Storage Wars ruined the game. Owners and Auctioneers love it because of the extra $$$ and bidders it brought buy I've seen too many first timers with that look in their eye that says they just KNOW there's a Mickey Mantle Rookie Card in that 5x5 with nothing but a pile of dirty laundry on the floor in the middle. I've seen garbage units with 3 boxes, clearly labeled "Christmas Stuff" go for over $3,000!!! A few years ago I needed to rent a unit for a few months so utilizing my industry knowledge I decided to perform a semi sadistic experiment. When I no longer needed the unit, rather than pay up and clean everything out, I payed for the last month and took everything I needed from the unit but left behind about 15 large cardboard boxes which I stacked neatly and put large font labels on every box, each one insinuating that the contents of said box were high dollar. "Guns and Ammo: AR, AK and Pistols", "Grandmas Jewelry: Gold, Silver, Diamonds & Precious Stones", "Autographed Sports Cards and Memorabilia", "Babe's Purses and Clutches", "OG Jordan's and Dunks", etc, etc.... After about 5 months of ignoring my Storage companies phone calls, I got the message that my unit would be going to auction on the 21st of the month, yes! I showed up to the auction, maliciously gleeful and anticipating the pure speculative and hype driven misery my little secret concoction was sure to cause. My unit was already being talked about among the regulars and when it came up the bidding was fierce and finally ended at $3,500. Let's just say that watching the proud new owner of my empty but wonderfully labeled cardboard boxes have the wind sucked out of his sails failed to be one of my prouder moments in life nor did it deliver me the hit of euphoria I expected his reseller tears to imbue me with.

This happens. Sorry to see the amount of work for nothing really. Weirdest locker I emptied was a 10x10 that was 95% full of newspaper clippings! It was like an archive for a specific newspaper over decades. Bought it because of the amazing tote stacks. It all ended up goin to recycle. We ended up scoring a massive kinder toy collection that did pay for the locker, but it was nothing like we were expecting. Good luck!

Sorry about yer loss folks. Storage lockers are a gamble, never spend more than your willing to lose and add fuel costs and labour to that mix.

The Christmas Vintage decorations are collectible and will sell well on Ebay. Take a little more time please to show us the items outside of the boxes and the wrapping, you will get more viewers if you do, otherwise what's the point in us watching your videos or subscribing. Great Star Trek finds, lots of collectors out there for that stuff too. Great finds.
