Monkeysyndicate - Let It Happen Demake (Tame Impala cover)
I recently got 'Jam with the band' on the Nintendo DS after realising that it has a decent little music creation mode included. I decided to try and demake some songs using the limitations of this software, to see what I could come up with.
I had to split Tame Impala's 'Let It Happen' into 2 separate songs and then splice them together as the overall length is over 7 minutes. I chose this track because there is so much going on with it and I thought it would be a challenge to try and approximate it on an editor as rudimentary as this one. Also it is one of my favourite songs!
The limitations below really caused some challenges with this one!
You are limited to 120 bars
You are limited to how many times you can span more than 2 octaves
There are 8 tracks in total
You can only modify ADSR and reverb of any given instrument
There is no transitional modification of any track, whichever effect you have lasts for the duration
You can only play one note per track, so to make chords you need to play the other notes on a different track. There is one track you can designate as a 'chords' track but I found it a bit limiting to use!
There is no real volume fade - you have a limited amount of times you specify a set volume, so to step up/down you need to use different values in sequence.
Created using 'Jam with the Band' on the Nintendo DS, all melodies etc copyright of the original songwriters.

I recently got 'Jam with the band' on the Nintendo DS after realising that it has a decent little music creation mode included. I decided to try and demake some songs using the limitations of this software, to see what I could come up with. Sega Master System MIDI Mod! How to upgrade your sound easily.
Переглядів 5283 роки тому
Hi all, I've always been a fan of the Sega Master System, and while it didn't get a load of games, it did get a bunch of AAA titles, and a lot of these supported the MIDI chip which was only available on Japanese consoles. Thankfully, there are ways to upgrade your Master System to enjoy the benefit of these games in MIDI. I bought my kit from etim.net.au/shop/shop.php and the website has all t...
PAL SNES - RGB cable too dark? How to fix it!
Переглядів 2,3 тис.3 роки тому
Hi all, just a very quick video on an issue I ran in to on my PAL SNES. The RGB cable I bought was immediately dimming the picture to unuseable levels. Luckily, there is a very simple mod you can do in a couple of mionutes, to rectify the issue. I hope you like the video! Music by monkeysyndicate: ua-cam.com/video/MAKrVUju_ck/v-deo.html
Modding the Neo Geo MVS - placing it on a pedestal where it belongs!
Переглядів 3723 роки тому
Hi all, following my modding of Saturn controllers last week, this week I made some modifications to the MVS/Supergun setup to make using it more convenient. I am now able to switch the unit off, add credits from the controllers and use the TV speakers for audio. I also came up with a permanent home for the power socket, and a platform to mount the whole thing to. I hope you find the video usef...
Modding SEGA SATURN controllers to work with the NEO GEO - save a lot of money, for a bit of time!
Переглядів 4043 роки тому
Hi all, I first started trying to put together a Neo Geo MVS syystem over 20 years ago. In the late 1990s, I purshased an original model one-slot (which I can't get working now) but at the time you pretty much had to make your own 'Supergun' JAMMA harness. I found this too daunting so my handful of MVS cartridges would remain forever un-played, until I recently got a supergun and a working MVS....
20 years in the loft - Japanese Sega Saturn - will it work?
Переглядів 783 роки тому
Hi all, I've been into videogames for as long as I can remember, and I've been putting together a games room over the past 6 months or so. I was unable to access a lot of my consoles and games due to them being in my mum's loft for the past 20 years - that was until last week when I picked up the majority of my collection, and I have been systematically testing each console and game since. I al...
Monkeysyndicate - Splash Wave (OutRun cover)
Переглядів 953 роки тому
I've been a big fan of the Outrun music for as long as I can remember. I distinctly recall playing it in the arcade and being amazed by how 'real sounding' the music was, before forlornly returning home to my Sega Master System. My facourite was always 'Splash Wave' and I've wanted to make a cover version for a while. The original music is written by Hiroshi Kawaguchi and this is my homage, I'v...
Panasonic RC-70 Clock Radio restoration - a cracking piece of kit!
Переглядів 7203 роки тому
Hi all, in another one of my loose series on oddly-shaped radios, this 1990 spherical effort from Panasonic gets some much-needed attention. This one has been damaged by the sun over many years and doesn't actually tell the time, so some effort is needed to get it working again. Not to mention the huge crack on the face... Monkeysyndicate - Happy Times
Переглядів 513 роки тому
It's been quite busy and I've not had much time to play with any music for a while. For this one I experimented with plugging the monotron delay into the sync output of the Volca Bass. This lets other devices know what the tempo is, but I thought I would use this to create an additional rhythm track which I could then add delay effects onto. I think it turned out quite well, I hope you like it....
Sanyo Dice Radio RP 1711 restoration - 50 years young!
Переглядів 2283 роки тому
Hi all, I was intrigued by this little radio which is shaped like a dice, because It's such an iconic look and epitomises early 1970's design. This one had some issues I needed to put straight, including the spectre of corrosion rearing it's ugly turquoise head again. It's similar to my Panapet radio in that it's a cute yet highly functional device. Anyweay I hope you enjoy the video! Music by ...
Monkeysyndicate - Minimalist Monotron Music
Переглядів 823 роки тому
I wanted to try and make something with minimal kit possible, so I've made an odd tune on My Korg Monotron Delay and Duo. These are both very basic analogue ribbon synths and I thought by using a combination of time and feedback, I could create something approximating a beat. It's a bit of a harsh sound, but I sort of like it. Created using Korg Volcas, © Copyright monkeysyndicate 2021

Переглядів 553 роки тому
I added a Korg Monotron Delay to my setup! It's a great box of tricks, not sure I really understand it yet. I've been having real trouble keeping the volcas in sync - especially when I have some elements off-beat, the internal clock from the controlling Volca tries to correct it, then tries to correct it again, and so on. I have to run them completely independently and make sure the tempos are ...

I have a different problem, a buzzing sound that gets louder when the brightness goes up! Only on RGB.
Hello, what should I do if the motor starts making an unusual sound?
that worked thanks. cutting the resistor directly, that is
Got a similar walkman that im gonna try to fix
Oh man thanks so much for this video. Mine everything turned but it wouldn't turn if there was a cassette in, yet i could hear the motor spinning inside. It must be that wretched 40 year old belt just slipping. Found new one on Ebay i ordered but will take a while to get to me in South Africa. Can't wait to use it again. A good prop for the kids 80's dress up parties esp if it actually works! 😀
Fantastic video, thank you so much for this! Wanting to share that I have the Aiwa HS-G39 and it's identical to this except its Black. Also, mine says HS-G39 on the back but on the side where the volume wheel is, it says HS-G36. Can anyone clarify why I have 2 different model numbers showing? Also, mine has the volume wheel crackling sounds and sound only coming out of the left headphone, but if i press down on the volume wheel or jam a toothpick in it which puts pressure on the wheel, this fixes both issues. But after seeing this video, I'm going to spray some IPA in to the volume wheel to try fixing this.
How did you fix the "pressing stop"-thing? I'm having trouble trying to find out the issue.
Thanks for sharing! I replaced the belt of my wm-f15 and the belt was melted
hI! Just wondering if you could help me out, i just found my old wm9 at my parents house, changed the belts, but now i noticed that there is a clear difference in how loud the left and right speakers are playing. left is considerably louder.. sprayed some electronic cleaner to the volume pot and also the headphone jack. no help. any ideas?
I've the same model. But the problem with mine is, Balance wheel is not working properly. If i turn all the way up to left, it will play okayish both left and right channel. But does'nt work as intended
I have m3330 , Nice machine !
Hi i have my Grandma's Sanyo same model as You'rs the problem is i changed the belt and works fine, however it has no sound output any tips and also why?
I got mine back together and now play does nothing. rew & ffwd works. the two wires to the indicator light have come lose however I can't find anything else amiss 😢
Nice video! Im opening mine up tonorrow to put new belts etc on. I noticed the tape on mine keeps getting eaten up so hopefully an easy fix.
10:32 the bottom of the screen isn't actually corrupted. Sonic 2 was designed that way for CRT overscan. This can be seen in modern TV's or emulators.
interestingly it has only one flywheel. where there no autoreverse versions then?
i once had exactly the same walkman only the lid had a different design.
Thanks for this video. I will start maintaining my player now 😊
шикарная работа! автор молодец! купил точно такой же плеер. внешнее состояние просто супер, но внутри нет двигателя и провода все оборваны. буду пытаться восстановить.

I have a red one, too. The battery contacts were corroded worse than these. I cleaned them up to some degree. Regrettably, it isn't working. The power switch with potentiometer has a weak click when turning it on. No sound at all. It may just need cleaning. This video may have motivated me enough to give repairing it another go. Thanks!
Kind of an ugly replacement case - the original was MUCH better. Guessing by now you regret this downgrade...
Did you ever get around to making a scan of the label for the controls? Mine is missing and I'm struggling to find a copy anywhere... :(
thanks for posting this, couldn't figure out how to open my AF22
This series ( G35MK2 / G36 / T06 / T06MK2 and so on .. ) is a bargain if someone wants a "walkman" today. The tape mechanism is sturdy, electronics without smd and the overall build quality at a high level. I have nearly all of them - including color variants - and they are usually sold cheap. Once i have them open i change all the capacitors. I check all old caps and in only two of 15 machines some were out of spec. On the other hand all SMD capacitors in the HS-PX and the older "high end" lines ( HS-P/G/J 07/08/09 ) usually went bad after decades ... and sometimes even corroded underlying traces on the boards. Long story short - i love these player and can recommend them anytime to have fun with some tapes. As always : just my 2 cents.
👍
Сколько стоит такой плейер?
WF doesn't sound too bad. You should always test with a piano song for wf. I have two but they're not getting any power. Know why?
Hi, was wondering if you had a WM-F9. Just recently acquired one and the play works great but not the rewind or fast forward. I’m suspecting it’s a belt issue but I don’t really want to take it apart unless I have some kind of diagram or video showing what’s inside etc 😅. Really good video!
IS there a volume switch
It is a slider it’s at the bottom
Cheers worked for me
You are a life safer. Wish I didn’t buy a replacement cable now
I would get some new belts they do not look like they are quality belts the ones from china are not even and make every thing sound terrible with lots of wow and flutter .in the uk i use the ebay seller that sells decktech branded belts these have all been great quality .
How do u get rid of the volume crackle i have an aiwa ps152 but when i adjust the volume i hear crackles
Drop some IPA into the volume wheel and wiggle it around a few times. Or spray some contact cleaner
Beautiful.
Find solder joints under cart socket for US/JP. mod it carefull.
it's only worth it with an Extremerate case. And even then, I haven't been able to do one without something going wrong. This time, the wifi antenae snapped off after getting permanently stuck under the cartridge slot. I will just assemble it anyway with no wifi, because that's 4-5 hours of my life I won't be getting back lol.
had exactly the same, it was excellent for the entry prize in 1986...
I just picked one up. What a mess this tiny belt made. Sadly my generic belts are too thick so ive special ordered one
Re-instal the 75 ohm resistor and change the 220 volts capacitors 😉👍🏻
This is an interesting answer that matches what I I've read somewhere else. A guy on a forum said to remove the capacitors and change them with 75 ohm resistors. Is this the kind of mod you're suggesting? Also, would the mod indicated in this video cause any harm to the snes?
Nice. I just got a red one which somehow has lost the tuner window. I guess it fits from the inside. I wanted one of theses as I recall seeing these in Lewis's Department Store (not to be confused with John Lewis) back when one would have cost me about three months pocket money !
Hi great vid .. I’ve watched it a few times now … I have exactly the same model but my play button presses fine but doesn’t seem to work inside the deck … does that sound like a belt too? Thanks
Can you adjust the speed on it?
Do you do mail in servicing? I cant find anywhere to send in my tps-l2
wow great
Does the wm-8 or wm-9 have a auto stop?
I have the same gold ds I got it years ago as a bundle.
Ah yours is real then, mine is an after market shell!
@@monkeysyndicatei didnt know they sold it as a re shell thats what scares me about buying a used ds lite now as you can so easily do that so i just keep mine instead still has the original batt to
