    How do you guys feel about this push towards battery equipment, I just read an article that leaf blowers are being banned altogether, I don't understand what these people are thinking when they pass these ridiculous laws,

  • @Peter-pv8xx
    @Peter-pv8xx 9 місяців тому

    I miss the days when we were allowed to burn the leaves in those metal cans with the holes in them but the stupid environmental stuff started and they banned it where I live, it used to smell so good on a chilly autumn day and yes I guess it might have been a fire hazard if not done right. The city used to have these giant vacuums towed by a truck that had a big box on the back, it had a huge pipe with a ninety degree angle and the end had a wide flat funnel thing, there were usually two guys with rakes, they would walk alongside and pull the leaves from the gutter and the vacuum would suck them up, as a little kid I used to love watching it, now we have to bag the leaves, I have a Snapper with a snapperizer attachment, if you don't know what it is it's a screen type device that attaches to the mower deck, you need to take the blade off attach it then put the blade back on, it basically shreds the leaves and reduces them so you can fit for in a bag then I have a funnel that goes inside the paper leaf bags and keeps it open, it's a lot more efficient than raking and works best when the leaves are dry, I don't know if they still make the snapperizer, they used to cost about 120 bucks, I found one at a car swap meet a guy had, it was brand new in the box, he didn't even know what it was, I asked him how much, he said 20 bucks, it was probably the quickest sale he ever had, my friend who passed away had one in his shed, I don't think he ever used it so now I have an extra one.

    Why would you not take the extra minute to actually get their entire front yard cleaned to the next driveway? Even if that is the neighbors part of the yard do you not think that looks stupid or will just blow into the area of the yard you just cleaned so nicely?

    i run a little wonder HPV for leaf clean ups, doesn't make a mess like a blower and you don't have to quit if it's windy sucks all the leaves right up. I empty the bag into a 95 gallon garbage can I can empty the bag and be back to running in 1 minute.

    I bought the echo 9010 this Fall. It helped huge for Fall clean ups, but I will not be using it during lawn mowing season, much too heavy and bulky. I have the br 600 and 800 as well. The 600 is best for blowing off grass I find

      Get a small, hand held gas powered leaf vac. Cut the discharge tube down to fit into a trash can made to fit lid with screens for air displacement. Fill then empty the can into the truck.

    I like the way you did this and agree with most everything you said. I have the BR800X and 8010 and am looking at adding either the RM 8560 or the Husqvarna version, the 580 MK III. They are about equal to the 8010 in force and have much nicer tubes to swing around. BTW- Are you a member on Lawnsite?

    Blowing leaves is far less effective when they’re ‘plowed/pushed’ into the leaves. By blowing while walking backward, you clear the space where the leaves will be headed. By pushing the leaves, you pile them up faster crating an air current ‘curling effect’ that doesn’t move the leaves forward…rather upward. This is why the leaves take so long to move away from the pine tree…there’s no current over the top of the ground. The air gets pushed up. Spend more time clearing leaves walking backwards and…blow together, there’s a greater current/volume of air created when the blowers are used in tandem (One blower blows across the top of the leaves while the other guy blows into the mass of leaves). When the leaves aren’t moving horizontally and begin to curl, space needs to be created for the like to move to…you’ll find the leaves move freely and with volume.

    Tarps tarps tarps. Spend less time blowing piles around, get done faster, that raises your hourly. I love doing big jobs like this; my 8010 and my 9010 both knock serious amounts of leaves around. There is also _definitely_ a difference between the 8010 and 9010, and they both have the advantage over the 800.

      A leaf plow is golden when moving piles toward the loader.

    • @Pure_KodiakWILD_Power
      @Pure_KodiakWILD_Power Рік тому

      @@mickmouse92 leaf plows ( or machines that have the front end for pushing without a plow ) are alright when you have multiple people skilkfully and cleanly pushing leaves in a wave forward. If it's a solo op or two or even three people, tarps can contain and pull a massive amount of leaves to the destination without leaving a messy trail behind. Not to mention it's cleaner in between obstacles, through gates, over landscape features like ivy or pachysandra....I like tarping so much, I might still use tarps even if I had a crew of five, six, plus working for me, instead of leaf plows.
