Backwoods Therapy
Приєднався 15 вер 2011
Welcome to my channel! I focus on off roading, Jeeping, fishing, camping, and general "backwoods" activities. I live in the city so for me, being able to get out in nature and be around everything green and blue is the ultimate in relaxation. Taking a forest road out to my favorite fishing spot and cracking a cold one with my wife or friends is the best feeling in the world.

The dealer addressed the clutch issue on my 2023 Jeep Wrangler when I bought it back in November 2023. They removed the OEM transmission skid plate!
@@AStanton1966 I believe there were two recalls. One for older manuals, one for newer. Was yours the clutch assembly replacement?
@@backwoodstherapy The dealer never told me decisively what they did other than "remove the OEM transmission skid plate" and there was talk of "waiting for parts" when I bought it. I couldn't take it home right away.
@@AStanton1966 well at least it’s fixed. I’m happy with my manual V6 - last of a dying breed - but also looking forward to my next build. Don’t tell my wife tho, because this build isn’t even finished yet. 😂
@@backwoodstherapy Tell your wife, if you out back doing mod's, it keeps you out of the strip clubs! I just had my tow hooks powder coated plum crazy. Now my Jeep's up on blocks; I just painted the calipers the same color. Can't wait to get the wheels back on tomorrow. I think it will look sharp with Sarge green.
@@AStanton1966 nice. I want better shocks - on cheapo ranchos now and my stiffer springs with my E rated tires means it’s a rough ride. Eventually will need HD ball joints and a heavy duty tie rod/drag link setup for 37s. Maybe cromoly axle shafts as well. That’s not cheap. 😂
Nice video man. A way day out, is better than any day at work.
@@hallumadventures3410 hell yeah. Wore that mud for a week before I washed it.
Yea it is.

Building everything out is definitely a process…
@@redbeastadventures absolutely, and it’s my first off roader so I’m learning a lot. Gonna get some nicer shocks and softer tires eventually and hopefully that will help with the ride quality issues.
Flip your phone and put the camera on the ground when recording . Might make it look a little steeper?😂
@@VidadeAP I always hate when people try to make things look super extreme though. Like when you see videos of jeeps climbing straight "up."
Cringe af lmao

Don’t feel bad, it’s happened to us even with good shoes on.
Man that's a flat hill
@@wesleysingleton5626 your audi wouldn't make it even if it was running.
@@backwoodstherapy it would 2 make it on a level dry surface
What about the corrosion issue are 2024 models corrosion free?
@@williamdarico2369 no vehicle is corrosion free.
Great info, amazing these newish transmissions need to be recalled, ive got a 99 Tj, with the 5 speed, and 156k on it, and no problems with the reliability at all
@@Fordfan08 it's the clutch assembly, not the transmission. Potato, potahto, I know. I guess with the design of them, debris can get in there, and since these things get _hot,_ it can actually catch on fire, and more than one JL MT has burned to the ground due to this design flaw. You would think that with the millions they spend on R&D that they'd not screw up this bad, but oh well.
What year JLs are they recalling
@@williamdarico2369 Google says 69k JLs and JTs, for all model years prior to 2024. Check your VIN on the NHTSA to see if your jeep is affected (if you have one).
You mean that hill wasn't flat??? Lol. Even mounted on the front, it'll look like that. Drives me nuts
Oh for sure. I hit mad dog trail up recently and there was a very rocky, steep hill climb with some ledges that were nearly 2 feet high (have the video on my page) and they look like something a Honda pilot could do.
If you give it enough speed it will trust me
To be fair, you can off road anything. Once. 😂
Nice video. Wish we could still go through the tunnel. We did it right before it got closed. We're here this week and wish we could go through it again! Sux
Maybe one day they'll reopen it. I never got to go through it with this jeep, but did get to go through it in a friend's rig a year or so before it closed.
@backwoodstherapy I hope so too. It was very awesome to go through
❤
How sweet of you to help her! I can tell in her voice, she was nervous. You'll get it sweetie! Keep practicing, you seem to have a good hubby helping you! ❤
I went over bigger amounts of water in my Prius during our storm
Can't see on video but there's a two foot deep drop in before this crossing that your Prius wouldn't be able to do without ripping the bumper off.
Why have it in low 4x4? That's a 2 wheel drive creek
FR
Because it's easier driving stick for your first time with low range gear. And also, 4Lo off road is always a good idea, just in case.
@backwoodstherapy I guess you're right if you don't know the area and it's your first time. I've been off roading for 25 years in a vehicle and nearly 35 with an atv. I usually just drive it in 2 wheel drive until it won't go, then I switch to 4 wheel drive high. I only use low when I really need it.
@@justinshepherd4043I've done this trail before and I know my jeep could do it in 2wd but my JLU is a stick shift and my wife isn't super comfortable driving a manual so we put it in 4lo since my jeep is geared so low, once it's in 1st gear in 4lo and you take your foot off the clutch it basically drives itself.
Homie is not a rn 💀 😂 😂

Lovw thw color of thw jewp. I recwntly bought a 2023 chwvy colirado trail biss in the velocity blue color wirh black fender flares and black colored 18" wheels. I look forward to going down to cades cove in late October or early November to drive my new truck on parsons branch road. Have you all gone on hurricane creek trail located off interstate 40 inbetween cosby,tn and sl waynesville,nc?
I've been to Hurricane Creek a couple times (even have a couple videos on my channel). Pretty cool trail. Creek crossings are fun, and a couple sketchy obstacles. I'm wanting to go back since I got a regear and see how much easier the big rock obstacle is.
Now we can take the jeep and rzr to royal blue and see which one is best for off roading.
Most ppl would miss the small tree stump
Blame my spotter. 🤣
Where is that
Nemo trailhead in Wartburg TN. Can't go through the old tunnel anymore because there's no trespassing signs up around it but to the best of my knowledge the trail system around it is still open (the tunnel was the ONLY place I saw no trespassing signs).
Thanks
No problem! Rha ks for watching! It's a short, fun trail if you're in the east TN area. Just Google maps "Nemo trailhead." Take it to the little park, then come back out. Turn left, and then maybe 30 yards down the road will be the entrance to the trail on your left. If you go on Google maps street view you can actually see it.
Man is this the same video?
It was a sample from the long form video, yes lol.
Good luck guys.
We did this on Monday lol.

Heck ya 😁
It sucks when manufacturers provide the wrong hardware. You would expect better from a company like MORyde. Glad you were able to find the correct size hardware locally.
Yeah luckily the bolt size/thread was available at my local Lowe's. Sending the wrong hardware plus telling me the wrong torx bit size in the instructions... seems like quality control isn't high on their priority list. I'll be avoiding them in the future.
Those tailgate bolts can be a pain to get out. Good call waiting for the correct size torx bit. Looking forward to seeing the final setup.
Yeah I'll have a pic in the part 2 video. I hate "sUbsCriBe fOr pArT 2" videos as much as anyone else but cut it into 2 parts to keep the video length down. I'll mention this in my next video, but you gotta make sure to _lift_ on the tailgate when tightening those bolts down to prevent sag.
What a bummer!
That’s sick 😍
Thanks man!
Thanks for the video! We go to NC often so HC is one of the trails I want to try next. How is the best way to meet up with some Jeep crews to ride with?
Facebook, honestly. Their handle is "The Jeep Crew." They also have a website. UA-cam won't let me link it but you can just Google "TheJeepCrew" and check it out there. Anyone with a Jeep can join, it's free, and you just have to abide by a few simple rules (no drama, no firearms on group rides, respect the trail, stuff like that). Thanks for watching!
You still went lol
I did. Sorry you weren't feeling good. Had a good time. Trail is so much more technical than video can show. Holes two feet deep look like small potholes.
Do y'all know that HC is one way north off I-40?
I didn't. If you look in comments sections across the internet there seems to be some contention on this subject - some people maintain that it's a road, and can be done any way. Others maintain its strictly one way like you said. Either way, I'm not an NC local so I just followed the Jeep group I'm part of and found this out after I'd already did the trail the first time. Fun ride but more than a handful of rigs is too many for that trail. I actually redid it again the "proper" way the other day.
What kind of camera are you using?
I think this was just my cell phone (Galaxy A52 5G) recording in 1080p. My most recent video I have an Akaso V50 for front view that's basically a GoPro imitator. Decent, but sound quality is poor. The cab view on the jeep on the most recent video is my phone, and the side view was an old LG V35. Nothing fancy, just old cell phones I had sitting around, and the Akaso is like $100. I'm far from a professional with thousands sunk into his video/audio equipment lol.
Great video. I'm going tomorrow
Have fun! I'm actually heading to Cades Cove Jeep Outpost for a Saint Patrick's day hangout. Come out and join us! They're having food trucks from 10-5. I'd try to go to Bays Mountain but I only have a babysitter for a few hours and my wife is still hesitant about bringing the baby on off road trips.
Looks like fun but quite intense at times 😛
