Hello, welcome to sigma forge. I like to make stuff. Creative metal working and art is a passion of mine. I also have an interest in Mechatronics. Mechatronics is the integration of electronics and mechanics, cnc machines are a prime example. I have spent my life learning multiple disciplines of welding, machining, blacksmithing, forming, and casting, etc. Learning a skill and implementing it are fundamentally different. It is my goal to teach fundamental skills to others, and then inspire them to create whatever it is that they have dreamed up. Creativity is more important than knowledge ( a well known quote which I believe to be true), but you don't have to pick just one. You can be a hybrid of both. Certain tasks require more or less of these two concepts. Knowledge is accumulated and creativity can be developed. To acquire these things within yourself is the ultimate form of investing, to invest in yourself. I sincerely hope you value yourself enough to do so. Thank you
Provoke Karambit from titanium and damascus
I make an iteration of the provoke karambit. I forge out some damascus scraps left over from previous projects. The pivot arms are damascus that is scalloped to distort the pattern. the blade has a low layer count which makes a bold pattern. The frame is 4130 plate i.e. a scrap saw blade. The locking lever and belt clip are grade 5 titanium with an entropic finish. The titanium is carbidized at the steel contact points for longevity and to prevent lock stick. I rosette welded the threaded areas so the 10-32 screws can be torqued , preventing them from rotating. This locks up solid with zero play, yet still deploys easily with a flick of the wrist. Let me know what you think, for reals leave me a comment. Thank you

Damascus knife that is a push dagger!
Переглядів 14410 місяців тому
This is a knife that transforms into a push dagger, or is it a push dagger that turns into a knife? I will let you decide that for yourself. I am not sure how practical this is , but it is really cool so who cares. The fit and finish on this one is top notch. The machining and tolerances for a backlock style was a little challenging on this one. The blade is twisted pattern welded, and the pivo...
Pattern welded Ring Dagger from a wrench
Переглядів 19211 місяців тому
It started as a wrench. I forge welded damascus tiles and it was drawn out. Tig welded a 2nd ring for a solid grip. This Ring Dagger is razor sharp and very pointy, actually it is extremely pointy, the pointiest of points. The wrench is a Vanadium alloy and holds a fine edge. This Dagger needed a custom Kydex sheeth just for safety. I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did. Thank you for ...
Dual Damascus Tomahawks Forged in the fires of Mount Doom
Переглядів 263Рік тому
Why make one tomahawk when you can make two for twice the price? In this video I forge two tomahawks from different damascus billets. One is 12 layer that is twisted and the other is from Ball Bearings. I used a round socket from mild steel and a hardwood dowel for the handle. The handles are leather wrapped with a cross-over pattern. I also made some leather sheaths for these as they are very ...
Tomahawk from a Ball Peen Hammer
Переглядів 212Рік тому
It started as a Ball Peen Hammer from Harbor Freight. I forge it out with some twist damascus tiles from a previous project. This tomahawk is made for mainly throwing and some chopping. I wanted it to be visually appealing as well as functional. I take you step by step on how to forge, heat treat, grind, and finish. I did about 50 to 60 throws into a stump to test this awesome tomahawk. It is a...
Karambit from chain damascus
Переглядів 167Рік тому
This knife is made from Roller chain and 1080 powder with 4% nickel. The handle is chain as well. It is a karambit style ( kind of) This knife is razor sharp on both edges. I am all over the map on this one, mostly due to not having a cohesive plan in place when I started. This was just a project that had no real direction, it was more of a whim. I hope you like it or hate it, either one is fin...
Damascus Butterfly Knife with Titanium handles.
Переглядів 402Рік тому
This is a multi-bar twist damascus butterfly knife. It came in a little on the large size, but hey, this is America, I am not going to put my knives on carb restriction. The handles are made of titanium polished to 3000 grit and then given a Lightning finish, also known as an entropic finish. It has a magnetic locking mechanism and is balanced almost perfectly. I machined bronze spacers for smo...
Damascus Monster Folding Knife

This knife is one of a kind. The blade is multi-bar damascus from ball bearings sandwiched between normal layers. This folding knife is a frame lock design , the frame is from saw blade material that is tig welded and parkerized black. The pivot pins are from damascus that is nitre blued to vibrant red/blue color. It is a massive knife that is razor sharp. I hope you enjoy all the detail of thi...
Gears forged into Push Dagger!
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Рік тому
It started as a pile of gears and 1095 powder with 4 % nickel. 2300 degrees plus 40 tons and BAM!! A homogeneous billet with a awesome pattern that is heat treatable. This is a gift for a friend of mine who is moving to Vegas. The handle is damascus as well that was twisted to make helical striations. I also make a custom locking Kydex sheath. This is as razor sharp and compact. Tell me what yo...
Butterfly knife from Damascus Steel!!
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Рік тому
I put an incredible amount of detail into this knife. Twist Damascus blade, handles and bolts. I used different finishes to accent the knife. Forging, machining, heat treating, etching, parkerizing. Tell me what you think. I love being able to share this with you. Thank you.
Katana forged from an axle
Переглядів 1,9 тис.Рік тому
It started as a broken axle, a core drill bit, and 5 feet of chain!! This is my idea of a short sword. The tsuba is from chain damascus, the pommel is 6061 aluminum, the knurled grip is 4130 steel tube. Axle material is 4140 Chromoly steel. I sacrificed a little hardness and edge retention for toughness and flexability. This baby is sharp and well balanced. There are some flaws, I am always lea...
Knife from Pipe wrench!
Переглядів 40 тис.Рік тому
You can forge a knife from a pipe wrench! Custom survival style Knife from a wrench I found in a dumpster. I hate waste, so it was really satisfying to reuse something that was thrown away. I show all the aspects of forging a knife, grinding, heat treating, parkerizing. Thank you for taking the time to watch this, it truly is a blessing to share this with you.
Gear Damascus knife
Переглядів 652Рік тому
There are a few tragic moments in one's life, let me share this one with you. When restacking this damascus some inclusions or impurities ended up in it and showed in the final etch. I have some more of this material left over from the original video, so I will start over. Let me know if you have any ideas on how to prevent this. I think some scale formed from inproper welds sealing up the stack.
Damascus from Gears (part 1)
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Рік тому
I forge some damascus from Gears and powdered metal. This pattern is one of my favorites! After forge welding in a canister, I draw it out, then cut and restack it to get the pattern on the sides of the billet. I am making a knife out of this in Part 2. Thank you for watching.
Forging Damascus from Ball Bearings! Bold pattern !
Переглядів 287Рік тому
I take you through the steps to make ball bearing canister damascus. I use four kinds of bearings, 1/2", 3/4", 1/8" and 3/16" diameter, bearing steel is usually 52100. I also use 1080 fine powder with 4 percent Nickel. After it is forged solid, I draw it out, cut and restack to get the pattern on the sides of the billet. I am not sure what I will make with this, knife?, hammer? who knows? Leave...

What type of quench oil did you use for this!? I was thinking of trying one!?
Parks 50, this came out razor sharp. I quenched after non magnetic for a minute. Then tempered at 375 for one hour. Parks 50 is a little expensive, but works well on steels that require a fast quench. This steel is probably around 1075 or so, so Canola oil would probably work too. It takes just a little experimentation with the quench and temper to get a nice usable blade. And this steel takes parkerizing really well. Thanks for the comment.
simply fantastic
Thanks a lot, I love steel sculptures and appreciate the comment

You are the first my friend.
You should sell these
I have sold one so far, the pipe wrench makes a really tough knife. Thank you for commenting!
I want one
Large, medium, or small? :)

Your videos are on par with ones that have 25M views. Keep the faith brother. I loved listening to you casting your dream of a new shop and making content that people will enjoy. Your motives sound pure and I’ll bet the universe is conspiring to help you along right at this moment
Thank you, that means a great deal to me. I really love sharing my projects. Thank you so much for the encouragement. I am getting ready to upload some more projects!!
Beautiful 🤩
Thanks 🤗
BEHIND THE SCENE 🎬 INFO The titanium scrap came from a laser cutter in Anaheim, Ca. and was originally going to be the base insole of custom roller skates 🛼
Thanks for the insider info!
It’s a great one! I held it 😂
Thank you so much.
All the time it took to get the tolerances perfect really shows. I love what you did to get the colors in the titanium! Never seen that done before.
Thanks Bryson. I have alot of machining experience so I tend to pick knife projects that have more machine work. Entropic finish for titanium is one of my favorites! You can vary the temperature to get more blues or purples. If you get it just right you get a lightning effect. When will I see a video of one of your projects?
I have no video gear, no editing software, and nothing new to report! As soon as I invent a spectacular new damascus pattern I will be sure to post it! @@sigmaforge6232
@@brysonalden5414 Maybe a collaboration is in order? I can make a special mosaic pattern, get it to rough shape, and you finish it. What do you think? I would love to work on a project with you.
The pattern on this one has so much contrast!!!
It really does, with a proper heat treatment 1095 will give you dark lines, and a good finish on the 15n20 will be very shiny! Thank you
This one turned out great😍

Let me know how that new anvil works out for you
I will, planning on an anvil review video. Thanks again.
I love these knife.❤. You got skills
Thanks Martin, you are the Man.

Thanks a lot!
Let me know when you want to cheat and have me laser cut you anything lol Great build my man. Looking forward to seeing you and learning more. $35/hr if you want to make $ on the side 😂 😆 😝 😊😢
Okay. Thinking of doing some canister damascus with some laser cut images .
Very nice, I’m impressed
Thanks Nick!
Thanks Nick! You are the man@@nickjones824
What I think is that your skills are improving incrementally, and the skull sweat that went in to this one clearly shows. I wasn't expecting your gear-based pins, and I must say I'm very jealous! I've been trying to come up with a way to make a blade with gear patterns in it (that doesn't involve 3D printed gears) and when I saw what you were doing I wanted a hunk to turn into mosaic damascus. Very nicely done, sir.
Hi Bryson, Thank you. I am trying to make each one better than the last! I will have a nice chunk of gear damascus left over from from one of my upcoming knives. I can ship it your way if you want. Thank you again.
Badass is what I think !! Nice !!
Thanks Phil.
Very nice, inspiring build. I'm learning to fusion weld with my new TIG setup, and am really a fan of the process, when I get it right! Sadly, that knife design is illegal to carry in my State. One question, did you sand the blade after you Parkerized it before etching, or did you plunk it in the ferric with the Parkerizing intact?
Hi Bryson, hope you are doing well. I had the advantage of doing lots of tig work in my youth. Practice a little everyday and you will surprise yourself. One bit of advice, get a high quality welding hood, do not skimp on that. #1 rule in tig, " if you cannot see well, you cannot weld well". After parkerizing I wet sanded the blade back to bare metal with 400 grit, then I etched in ferric-chloride. I did not want a bunch of manganese Dioxide dissolved in my etching solution.
Thanks for getting back to me! I do have a high quality hood, thanks to my step-brother the welding instructor. Can't imagine why you didn't want foreign chemicals in your ferric! @@sigmaforge6232
That look awesome unbelievable workmanship
Thanks Frank, you are the man
Big fan of these tomahawks, great work!
Thank you, Can't you see this woman's a Nun!
Ok ! I need one !!
The original Americans used Tomahawks, by that logic all true Americans should have one. So you for sure need one. I will posit this idea, you are not an American unless you have a tomahawk. We can then structure a societal hierarchy, those who have tomahawks, and those who do not. Which group would you rather be in? Yeah, thats what I thought.
Love it ❤
Thanks Martin!
Beautiful work
Thank you so much for watching!!
I love the colors and yes it will kill
It will Keeeel
Once again, another beautiful, beautiful video
I am striving to make these the best I can. Thank you for taking your time to watch this.
I am proud to be an American
I Salute you my friend !!!!!
This guy is a bad ass. He looks like he knows what he’s doing. I wish I was that good. I watch his videos all the time.
If you ever want to forge something let me know. You never know the creativity that is just latent within yourself. You will excel in whatever you strive for my friend.
Nice work, u should do a segment on sharpening your knife
Thanks Nick, This one was different for sure. I will do a video on sharpening a knife next!!
Very nicely done! I especially appreciate your explanation of using the TIG to fuse the metal, rather than the more commonly used MIG. Just got my first TIG lesson yesterday, and happily my Miller does MIG, TIG and stick, so I should be set.
Thanks Bryson, I use my tig to do all my fusion welds in damascus tiles with no filler rod. I will mig the ends of a new billet sometimes because the ends are always waste. Glad to hear about the Miller, they make a good machine. I should do some close ups of my tig process on my next video, just to show my set-up.
Good video
Thank you very much. I appreciate the comment and I glad you enjoyed it!
Lmao I sold you that hammer. Awesome to see it forged
Thanks Willow!!!!
Love how this one turned out!
And I love how you turned out.😘
Nice, coherent scheme incorporating the roller chain into the entire knife. I appreciate you including some of your thought processes, as that's always helpful when I'm thinking about a project. I've been meaning to head to TSC to get some roller chain, and this may be the final straw to get me there. Curious, though, as to why you chose such a large canister? Seems like a smaller one might have been easier to heat all the way through, but then I guess you wouldn't have so much stock for future knives. Thanks!
Hi Bryson, hope you are doing well, I always make more than I need, I am still prone to mistakes! Let me know if you want a slice of it, I can send you a nice .250 thick section. I also had a lot of chain, the metal dumpster at work had a 10 ft piece of chain.
Thanks! I did get by TSC and bought 10' of new chain, but rather than stick it in a canister I'm going to make a flower pot for a sculpture I'm finishing. Still fussing with a couple of more traditional damascus builds, so need to get those done for customers before I try something new and different! @@sigmaforge6232
It’s beautiful, really brilliant. You could enter your wares at the state fair, win a couple notable ribbons for workmanship.
That would be cool!
Do you have a special set of spoons for the shop? That spoon isn’t from the kitchen is it? I always wonder where all my silverware goes. I’m gonna need to check the shop! 😭😂
Thank for commenting, it helps the channel! I bought a whole bag of spoons from the thrift store for 5 dollars, it also had some knives and forks I use in some of my sculptures.
Ohh wow! That's huge! 👁👁
Thank you!!!
thats rlly cool i looks fire
Thank you, it is one of my favorite finishes for titanium, it always comes out a little different each time!

Thank you so much. I think I had 34 hours on this one.
Flames for sure, its gorgeous 😍 i want one for my tiny hands. Great video.

Beautiful knife, the blue handles came out amazing
Thank you, the blue came out perfect on this one. I will do some more titanium on the next projects.
Beautiful I was there looks better I’m real life
Thank you, happy to share it with you!
This one turned out beautifully!!! Love the Titanium handles!
Thank you for commenting
Hope you like it Lauren, best wishes for you in Vegas!
Another work of art. At some point you're going to have an art show with all your knives on the walls and people will walk around with martinis and talk about how the striations represent the multi-layered societal something-or-other. I love how every project seems to increase in complexity. What are you going to do after you make a 3 foot long, seven blade Swiss army knife?
Thank you so much, I am trying to make each knife better than the last! 3 foot swiss army knife, Hmmmm.
