Tulle Christmas Tree Tutorial
I originally shot the video for this in 2011 and then did nothing with it. I happened upon it recently and decided to upload it because these tulle Christmas trees really are easy and fun to make; and they can really add something to your Christmas decor.
SUPPLIES
5/16" diameter dowel cut to 12" long
Block of styrofoam cut into small blocks about 8"x12"
Roll of 6"x25yd glitter tulle
Needle and thread
Glue gun with low heat setting
TULLE STRIPS
2 - 6" x 2 yards
1 - 5" x 2 yards (cut 1" off and save a small piece to cover the top of the dowel)
1 - 4" x 1-1/2 yards (cut 2" off and save 1 yard as your 2" piece for the topmost layer)
2 - 3" x 1 yard (cut a 1 yard piece and cut in half to get two pieces)
1 - 2" x 1 yard (this you got from cutting down the 6" tulle to 4")

Push toward the back of the cabinet as you move along the edge, try not to pull toward you. Because of the way I mask I never get lips on the bottom. Another video for another time.

Make a Deco Mesh Wreath using a roll of deco mesh netting, a work wreath form, and scissors. You can find deco mesh and wreath forms on our website www.Bownut.com I'm working with an approximately 15" work wreath form. Depending on how big my loops are between twists will determine the width of the finished wreath, but it is approximately 24" in width. One 21"x10y roll with big loops (12"-15") ...

    Hi Heather! I've used a Ilva 710 topcoat on a handful of jobs, but have not used any ilva primer. Looking to use the PT410 to achieve a complete system Are you using the either of the hardeners with the 410? how Is the tannin bleed? We have a maple project coming up, and would love to use the 410 with the 710 as long as I can guarantee that I don't have any tannin migration. I will then use it on the oak projects as well. Thank you so much for reading/Responding!

    • @bownut
      @bownut 2 роки тому

      I never used the hardeners with the PT410. Ultimately I liked the 1k Ilva primers much better. There is a black and a white and you can mix them to achiever different levels of gray. So like on a blue topcoat I might mix black and white to get to a gray primer with the same LRV as the topcoat color. Regardless, the best tannin blocking in my opinion comes from the WBV1005 2k clear isolator, then using the TXW08 in your PW710 topcoat. You may get some bleed from the iso into the primer, and sometimes if I didn't have faith it would stop bleeding, I would spot prime with BIN, but it generally would never come through to hardened topcoat. Whenever I did the WBV1005 I would spray the primer over the iso within an hour of the iso drying so that I didn't have to sand the iso.

      @markpuder2093 2 роки тому

      @@bownut awesome thank you. Do you need to use the iso as an undercoat to primer? Or can you use it as the primer? So you did not have any tannins come through the oak project in the video? Are you saying you did use the hardener for the 710 on this project? Thanks so much. I’m nervous to try this system on a client.

    In this video I used a 25 yard roll, but you can use larger rolls or multiple rolls at a time so that you don't have to do as many passes. For instance, you can use three 25 yard rolls and do a single pass instead if three passes as shown in the video.

  • @nefetirimcdavid1201

    Great tutorial. How many yards total are used on the 8" and 22" pom pom?

    • @bownut
      @bownut 8 років тому

      Here is the formula: (A*B*3)/36. A is the diameter of your finishing pom, the size you made your circle before folding it in half; B is A*2 because you always double the diameter to know how many times you wrap on a single pass, 3 is for three passes, and 36 is the number of inches in a yard so you can convert it into yards. The math for an 8" pom pom. (8*16*3)/36 so about 10.5 yards.
