As a Young Monk this is heartbreaking to see a such beautiful place close, something has to be done 😢😢😢
The murderer had a choice
This is excellent. So solemn, very well done. I wish there were more mini-docs like these. Just purely explaining what it's like to be a witness.
“One goes out, one comes in.” - The exact day our confreres ended monastic life there, we started Cistercian monastic life in a new foundation in East Germany. Here a sermon in German, automated English subtitles available 🤗 - Many blessings, gratefully united in prayer ua-cam.com/video/53OU5QjrHXY/v-deo.htmlsi=scsPj6NYQIzOzINW
It overwhelmed me that monk who was asked: "Where are you going next?" Pointing up, he laughed and simply said, "Heaven." I want to have faith like that. I hope wherever he is, on earth or in heaven, he prays for me.
Muy lindo video y como es tú vida, admirable lo que haces. Muy similar es la crianza o la ganadería acá en Chile. Saludos
Coming from a long line of ranchers, I can say that Maggie is as much a rancher as anybody out there...
Sorry for your loss dear.
Thank you for sharing your life with us.God bless you.
Went to church and boy scouts with him. So proud of him. He's become a great man.

AWESOME! GOD BLESS, THANKS FOR SHARING!❤
This is yet another reading of words! Where is the passion? The force? The depth of this epic? 😢😢
A tall ask in a totally alien ancient language though
Perhaps new immigrants can reside in disused monasteries?
sounds like @trixiemattel
Ed is such an amazing human I'm so glad my kids can call him (adopted ) uncle...we love him dearly
This video has given me more confidence and confirmation in a recent career change. I am 52 years old and decided to get out of the corporate world and go back to my roots. I have recently taken a job as a ranch manager and have 3 men on my team. I am rusty and feeling a bit nervous about this huge change in my life but want to be the best ranch manager I can be. Thank you for doing this video. You are an inspiration.
I was trained as a teacher and writer of training materials, but wanted to realize my Dad's dream of having 10 acres with a house in the middle. After 25 years of working in education and high-tech training, I had my house built on my 10 acres and ended up not going back to teaching because of a traumatic brain accident. Started with laying hens, added 2 dogs, a couple of bee hives, and ( right now) 11 meat goats. I don't think anyone who knew me back in my 30s would see me as a small rancher! But I love the animals ( much better than some of the people I worked with) and complain to myself about all the work that needs to be done.I've been at this 15 years, and started with the goats 4 summers ago. Every day is different. And NEVER let anyone tell you that you are too old! I'm in my late 60s and do most things here by myself, including building a 12ft x 24ft.goat barn.
“Health was a major part of that… FOR ME.” Body dysmorphia, eating disorders, and wrestling with perfectionism are just parts of being a female young adult. Having served myself in both the US and Canada, I don’t think this as widespread of an issue as the video makes it, and I don’t think the Church itself contributes to the narrative. This feels very antagonistic. Also, a quote from 1972?!?!
Wow, you are rugged. A real rancher!
My old professor James Sledd told me that when he was first a student in Oxford and was asked by his tutor to read a passage from Beowulf, his reading was so unskillful that the tutor (C.L. Wrenn) remarked, "Had you performed so poorly in the mead-hall, they would have pelted you to death with bones."
I’m confused by the purpose of this video. Is it trying to say that the church teaches women to be thin? That the culture does? Or that some sister missionaries struggle with eating disorders and we should all be aware of this? I sent this to multiple women I know that served missions and not one of them said they heard any of this. I also researched what the church’s instruction to missionaries was for eating, appearance, and exercise and I found instruction to eat healthy for mental health reasons and to exercise for mental health reasons. But never for “blessings or “praise from god”. In regard to appearance, I didn’t find one section that spoke about body weight. Can someone clarify the purpose of the video? Honestly terrible story telling. Felt like I was watching someone try to make a claim by only telling one side of the story. Which is just dishonest journalism.
Lose 500, gain 500? You might want to clarify what that is, or some might get the wrong idea
No wonder it sounds a lot like elvish. Check out who translated it (and probably got inspired by it)
This was so impactful! This conversation needs to be brought to light. And thank you for showing how the culture is harmful in a way that a believing member wouldn’t feel attacked. Very well made!
I had a companion leave due to eating disorder and depression. I still feel complicit in her staying as long as she did. I was senior companion. I should have acted to protect her.
The LDS church does a lot of great things around the world. Unfortunately there’s a lot of bad as well. The constant shaming and toxic perfectionism that is widely propagated in LDS culture is a big one. I left for doctrinal reasons, but my mental health improved dramatically just from getting away from the culture.
Naawww sweetie, righteousness and godliness comes from within and not from being thin🦋🧡💙
i pray mormons stop leading vulnerable astray.
I pray you see truth
@@magapefarmshomestead6453oh i do. and it’s not this.
@LexFerraro I'm sorry but you only believe it's truth but what you have found is not truth don't be like saul and be told that is hard to kick against the picks and fight God
@@magapefarmshomestead6453no. i have found God and Jesus. And have salvation. not the false prophet leading an army to hell, Joseph Smith. it’s you who has none of that if you are LDS.
Thank you for sharing your story, Miranda. It is so difficult to talk about a mission like this - the difficulties and sacrifices are almost fetishized in church culture. I love Germany, and I love so many people there, but I'm not grateful for the depression and toxic perfectionism I developed on my mission there. I can't imagine the pain of weight shame and an eating disorder on top of that.
What a ridiculously slow tempo.
I think Handel intended for this song to be long and drawn out.
Beautiful!
Would be interesting to see a follow up to this doc. How did they adjust to new surroundings? Did they survive covid?

In my filmmaking I keep running across all of Brigham Young child trafficking Navajo kids for several decades - any shred of priesthood authority is GONE the moment that happens.
Do you have any sources for this? I’d love to read this history, I haven’t even heard anything on it
And having been to SLC countless times growing up, I'm sure every monk who re-located there wishes to be back in that farmland of quiet and peace. Such a shame medical personnel couldn't have been placed there, to care for the aging at what was their home. Praying this new generation of men growing up will come to the table with Jesus, heed the call to aid souls to heaven. Such a selfish world we're in ... pray for them all ... every man woman and child. And especially for the priests, God' hands in this world.
