Frontier 2003 to 2006
This is the story of an extraordinary chain of events that happened between me and a patron through a commission that ran between 2003 and 2006. The project moved me to expand my design direction at a time when I was very seriously ill, and unknown to me, my patron Jeremy was dangerously ill himself. This project become a healing process for us both.
This story is not what you expect... It is much more.
This video was an amateur in-house production making the best of the rudimentary video equipment we had on hand. By the end of the three plus years this project was in motion, all those who participated were both excited and proud of their involvement.

Nice design, excellent build video - although the last 20 seconds are a bit boring. :) Thank you for sharing.
Such a great soundtrack.
What’s a kestrel chair? Is that some well known design or something?
I can’t imagine you’re not seeing failures on those back support posts. Notching them out to receive the back rest seems sketchy for a part of the chair receiving an extraordinary amount of stress. It’s like creating a natural fault line for splits to form.
Oh boy, that must be chair for girls only. It wouls split your balls apart!
Next level. On par with the best stuff out there. Plus I love the actual design. Really nice!
I took the Practical Woodworking Class between my 3rd and 4th years of college in 2006. I still have my hall table, and I've been making furniture professionally for over 10 years. The things I learned from Jeff have been foundational to how I approach my work. I look back on that week fondly and consider it to be the bedrock of my knowledge and passion.
Rad! Love it.
what a dedicated work :)
Love the look of that chair. Really cool and great video!
What a nice video, beautiful chair and very nice shop. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful craft and good tunes
Weird ending.
wonderful work! Can you share the plans?
Simply superb.
Really great stuff. Thank you for putting out this great video.
Very pretty!
Are plans available for building one?
Nice video, Jeff. Wish I was closer -- I'd sign up!
SPACEHIOG! woohoo!
Hello friend, what tool were you using to fairing the curves please?
I believe that's a travisher, a type of spokeshave traditionally used in making chair seats
Nicely done, thanks for showing us.
Nice design!
Love your work and your workshop is amazing too!
Discovered yr channel recently and do like content(s)... Paper joint is a neat trick thanks. Keep up the good works Kindest regards AB from the UK
I did it myself with the Woodprix plans. I think this is the best way to find out how to build it.
Woodglut has very good designs and plans.
Woodprix scripts contain most of the woodworking plans you can find.

What oil do you use and is it different for each chair? It looked like a minwax container for the cherry one and is no for the maple
We used boiled linseed oil on the cherry and walnut, and Osmo on the maple.
Это шедевр!!!
Beautiful craftsmanship!
I am starting to do some woodworking and I watch a lot of woodworking videos....this is the first “couple” or “partner” video I have seen. Usually, the video is just a great woodworker working alone. Sooooo much better to have someone with you. Great job. Subscribed.
As an amateur with woodworker, I typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement. Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness [Link Here== *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . I now work like a genius. That is great!?
This is genius. I'm going to build one for my shop.
thanks for video
I love all the three colors of chair. Seat looks very convenient and easy, great job.
Amazing work as always and good to see you guys. Coming to your course for a week was one of the best things I've ever done! Hope you're well...
can I buy one already made
Great video Rob, really interesting. In your course next week, and can see through your videos that I'm going to learn so much! SG
Love the creativity of the table, and the video! Joining you guys next week for the course and can't wait....Well done. SG
Very nice sign Lohr. What type of paint and clear did you use on your sign. Thank you for your time.
Just a black oil based paint for the letters and McCloskey's Man o War spar varnish over the whole thing.
Good one, Jeff! I'd respond with a boomer from Butte, but, alas, our pyrotechnics have been cancelled this year due to tinder-dry conditions.
