@@AbeDaSageLive The business practices aren't the worst about it, believe me. In fact, they're required to garantee the game's longevity... that's why Tekken 7 lasted for so long. People are quick to criticise the monetization, but forget that during T6 and TTT2 there was no support, 'cause there was no monetization. Well, TTT2 did make players buy the soundtracks and videos of the previous games, making it the first unofficially "Tekken Shop"... but I don't believe many people paid for those. But, for long time players like myself, this game is a mix of love and hate: the things we love, we really love it; but the things we hate, we really hate it. There's no middle ground. As far as the "gap" between casuals and recurrent players... it's still there. And I'm not even talking about the pros. I still recognise a lot of names on the top leaderboard that I've been seeing since the days of T6. The truth about this game in comparison with its previous iterations is that a win feels earned, but a loss feels mostly cheated... and that never happened in previous games... and the rank system is also pretty busted too. Just my opinion, but if you're enjoying the game, keep at it!

@@Rikuphi understandable.. but tekken 7 has been out since 2015, and it’s only year 1 of T8. So in time things would probably change for the better with the same amount of time

@@AbeDaSageLive I think that only highlights the issues, the fact that it’s only been out a year and there’s SO many complaints. I played T7 since launch and I don’t remember the reaction year one being nearly as bad as T8’s.

@ Well that’s probably because they already had time in arcades before they released to actual consoles, so it definitely had time prior to get itself together

Also that’s a regular thing in games nowadays honestly, even besides Tekken. Story games, multiplayer games, etc. Look at how good sparking zero is but people are complaining about the constant vanishes being boring, the plethora of unbalanced stuff in the game (even though that was the intention behind the game from the devs), the fusions being top tiers (which is canon to the show) etc.. it definitely doesn’t excuse the issues in the game nor the horrendous business practices behind the pass or the store, but things can definitely change. This game will be around for a while so it’s up to the consumer to either enjoy it for what it is or not

Tag2 has rage, bound, etc. T5 DR is honestly the realest Tekken like someone commented earlier: no rage, no rage arts, no rage drive, no heat mechanics, no bounds and no armored moves.

@@AbeDaSageLive T5 DR was loved by the OGs but this was pre-social media damn near. I'm sure if T5 DR got ported to PC, updated it's netcode, and maybe updated it's graphics then many many OGs would leave T8 or come out of retirement. That's why Namco never ported Tag2 to PC when T7 was out because they knew they'd kill T7

@derrickrobinson7269 5DR was Prime Bare Bones Tekken. Tag 2 had rage but no Rage Arts or Drive. It was controlled damage that could be controlled by not Tag Assaulting for the most part. Rage only gave damage and Tag Crash which I had no problem with bc Tag Crash had counter play. So while not bare bones, the variables didn't over do it. No Stage interactions or very limited and didn't change the outcome of a match. Bound? Thats just combo extension. Still the same damage as T5 combos. So to me 5DR and Tag 2 were best with me preferring Tag 2 for infinite replay value. Customization, gameplay, infinite combo possibilities, etc. DR probably had the biggest crew where I played at the arcade.

That's honestly why it's not well received by the veterans, it feels like they keep closing the skill gap by simplifying mechanics, making lottery characters (50/50s), and adding all these comeback mechanics. This is a Tekken for people who suck at actual Tekken (T5 DR for example), so of course it's the most popular. People like not losing badly and having 2nd chance mechanics to fight back
