How long did it take for you to get shipped to BMT once you swore in?
My recruiter is able to get fire protection slots about every two months if he has someone waiting on it.
So you didn’t start the academy until 4 weeks after you were there?
If the academy is backed up you have to wait. Towards the end, the newbies did not have to wait tho.
Is there any way to know if the academy is backed up before you get there or you don’t really know
Currently in basic training, got stuck in quarantine. How is the transition work? Do we get to wear civilian clothes immediately after basic and are we allowed to leave base at all?
No sure if thinks have changed due to covid it takes some time before your aloud off base and wear civilian clothes.
What do you guys do for PT?
Its never available
I wish I could of joined cause my family was all air force my dad went in 73 retired in 93 and one of my grandpa's polished ike's plane when he was president my other grandpa had to do post office stuff if I could of joined I would of tried to do FD or pararescue
How was the Hazmat, which was harder in your opinion, EMR or Hazmat?
Being a firefighter in the military does it help you towards being one in civilian world. ?

No not really.

Dont forget about all the stupid training you have to take once you get to your Duty Station. Computer training and constant training
Was it academically hard? I’m not good at taking tests. I did decent on the asvab making a 50 as my score. Do you it’s college level or high school level the stuff you’ve learned? @Steve Jern

Timothy Phouthavong it’s different for everyone. The reason is not people get pushed back if they fail and other circumstances. Mine was around 4 months .
If you don’t have any experience will it be difficult? Did a lot of you guys have experience before going?
i did not have any exp but if you pay attention and give 100% you can do it

Anthony Flores if you get a some forms filled out you maybe able to skip some parts of the fire academy. It’s different for everyone.
You going over seas or stateside?
While you were waiting to go to BMT were you doing anything for the military? (is that. Average 3-4month waiting when you do Drill twice a month?) I’ve watched another ANG video and after BMT you go to Tech school or home depending on the situation? In tech school you’re learning your job. After Tech school is over do you get to choose which base you want to work from or is it the closest one to you? I’m a bit confused on the job protocol. ANG is part time. So how often are you going to work a month? I understand you can have a civilian job at the same time. I know I asked a lot. I’m considering joining but want to be prepared before I speak with a recruiter. Thank you!

How hard was it to even get the MOS as a FireFighter?
For me it was easy, depends on your asvab and your recruiter.
My recruiter was telling me he might get a fire protection job maybe once every two months or so.

What would you recommend for preparation for but and fire protection tech school
The hardest part is dumby drags and c130 search and hose pulls. Make sure you have good cardio and arm strength. Work out alot before you get there. Over all it's not that hard.

How many days in between bmt to tech school and from tech school to your job assignment? ( like how many days do you get in between those steps ?)
Alonzo Cooper i went straight to tech school but some people have a gap. Also you should have a report no later date on your orders. It’s different for each person but your orders will tell you!
Would you happen to have any more info on that cyber test you mentioned or how to study for it i.e. recommended study guides?

How did you book a job while your still in high school and was it hard to get fire protection because people say it's very hard to get in
Chronicjah -_- I swore into DEP and I just got my job. I guess I got pretty lucky with getting Fire Protection also. I put Security Forces as my top pick but I someone got Fire Protection, which was my second pick
What do you think is the best way to study?
Brendon Lamsong they give you the material at the beginning of each block . So I would study that. Also highlight a lot during the classes and that will help you recognize key words on the test!

nba lockercodes don’t stress about them . It’s super easy, only like 10 knots to learn and you have time to practice!

Did you know when you were shipping for BMT when you signed your contract?
Cameron So the air national guard has to share bmt and tech school dates with active duty. With that being said , the guards get a very small percentage of seats for basic. That means it will take some time for people to get dates . On average seems to be 3-4 months to get dates from the time you swear in. They require you to get paid first , finish your eqip which is your secret clearance packet .

That’s one thing I noticed about the air guard. The boot camp deployment takes forrrrevverrrrrr hahaha. Bro that wiz test is going to psych me out. I’ll have to do the breath hold exercise to pee on command with someone right behind me 😂
Dont sike yourself out! It was not as bad as people say it is. Stay quite and follow directions.

Funny thing is. My recruiter said Fire Protection was not open, last month. When I asked and I see a bunch of videos of people training in Fire Protection program. Smh
shaft says hey man , I can tell you that it’s normally never an open position but if you keep pressing your recruiter it may workout like mine did
think it greatly varies depending on necessity of your location. Apparently super sought-out and comptetive but I'm hoping for it too
