Blakemar Briars and Mike Billington are the best!!! Been buying from them for 25 years. Better than anything charging many times their price. I really don't want to spend more than $100 for a pipe.

I’m of the school that-for luxury and convenience purchases like pipes-any object or service is worth exactly what the seller and buyer agree on. I rarely spend more than $50 on a pipe because as well as my old estates smoke, I just can’t be convinced that a $500 pipe is going to smoke 10x as well. If someone would like to gift me a $500 pipe to prove me wrong, I’ll give ‘em my postal address 😂

I have an estate dunhill, cost the same as my new Blakemar! Both great smokers. One of my favourites is a cheap unbranded basket 😂

Wonderful dunhills, ghosting 🤔, if it’s tainted smoke it out, price wise I reckon £180 would be my top line, and that’s why I love estate pipes, get well soon pal

FYI, I like Muxiang pipes off of ebay, as they have been great to me. Own about 25 of them and most are below 20 dollars and had few problems. Have had cracks and stuff, but they smoke like a dream. So inexpensive pipes have three holes and do the same as the expensive ones do. But they are not like a hammer, I would pay good money on work shoes, hammers and winter jackets, but somethings like a pipe, I don't need to spend the money on one , when I can have 20 that I get the same thing out of. There was a table at the pipe show I went too, that were works of art. I am sure we'll over the 400 dollar price tag. But I would treat it the same as a 20 dollar pipe, and it goes in my pocket like all the others with keys, lighter and tamper giggling around till I get back home. It would look like a 20 dollar pipe in 6 months if it smoked well. But what if it doesn't smoke well?...😢

Is the pipe worth 250 dollars and more, are worth the time and effort that it took the maker to make it. The chance of getting the right marks and grain is low to be perfect. It might take then 3 hours to 3 days to make. It's like a video, some are 30 seconds and some are 1 hour or longer. But just because it long doesn't mean it's good. Just because it cost a lot, doesn't mean it's good. Hell , look at my stupidity! But I would charge a lot of money to watch mine for the effort I put in. But it's not worth that money, it's only worth it to me to sell it. 😂 I just bought two estate pipes off the ebays , and both gurgle. And they were expensive pipes new, but at one time they did not gurgle because the owner used them well. But I am working to see what blends might not gurgle in them. Or still trying to figure out why pipes gurgle.😊 happy Saturday afternoon to you sir!

Good to see you Terry. The most I paid for a pipe was $240. It was a unique artisan pipe and I love it (and I know the pipe maker). My Jack Ryan bent Apple is my best smoking pipe (paid £120). I have a Dunhill that was gifted to me. Beautiful pipe but it doesn’t take a filter. But I can smoke my Burley Morning Pipe tobacco in it with no issues. It’s a treasured gift. I think you got a heck of a deal 👊🏼

Hiyas Terry mate, You know from watching my channel, that I love all 9 my Blakemar Briars pipes. I've not paid more than $75.00, all in, for any of them. They smoke like champions and they were all crafted by a very nice gentleman. I do have other artisan pipes that cost me more coin and I love those pipes as well. Do they smoke better? Beautiful pipes! Enjoy! I don't think pipe are worth hundreds of dollars, unless the materials are rare/precious and it's a one of a kind piece of art. Dunhils don't fall into that category. I have several Dunhils in my possession that I picked up for less than $100 each. You can find good deals if you look long enough, and are willing to pass on the deals that don't meet your criteria.

That’s a great bargain! Both are beauties too. I have a hard rule that I stick to: $200 USD (+ taxes, shipping, etc.) or less. I’ve found pipes that were absolutely speaking to me before, but were $212 or $225. Not much more than my limit, but I pass them up every time. Helps keep me honest and my much prettier half content with my spending for this hobby.

That’s a stunning Dunhill Terry, I’d never pay £495 for a pipe and no where near, I pay less than £50 for most of my pipes, the Hardcastles and Dr plumbs, they are my go too grab a day pipes. Granted I paid just over £100 for my Savinelli but that’s the most I’ve paid and probably ever will. My Hardcastles smoke as good as any pipe I have. It’s like most things in life, you are paying for the name. Have a great weekend fella.

Absolute bargain you’ve had there! 2 lovely pipes! I also think £300 upwards is too much money for a pipe I’ve got pipes I’ve paid less than £50 for and they smoke great. If I had a £500 Dunhill I wouldn’t want to smoke it I buy pipes to smoke not just to look at them.

That's a bargain price for those two pipes mate. Ghosting is a thing but I've only ever had it from lakelands, smoke a couple bowls of st james flake in a pipe and it will be a while before you'll forget you had. I wouldnt pay £500 for a pipe either but I have paid more for some pipes that in hindsight I shouldnt have.

Never smoked anything other than bees. I saw the title and thought I used to buy bees from Buckfast Abbey years ago. They were wonderfully calm and produced outstanding honey well here on the plains of Oklahoma.
