May 2024 Nature walks
Continuing with my Monthly chronologically created videos of walks in and around my local area.
May turned out quite a decent month considering the weather - Videos of Merlin, Dippers , Bittern, Roe Deer , Chasers etc etc. Some nice birds too with Grasshopper Warbler , Crossbills, Pied Flycatchers, Redstart Bittern and ending with Fly Orchid and others. Some locations visited more than once but Ive included pics and footage to see the changes that happen so quickly.
( Equipment anything from my phone, Nikon V3, Z7ii , Z9 and Fuji GFX and a collection of lenses)

April 2024 - Spring is in the air!

Ive been trying to produce a monthly video of nature around the Ulverston area. This month has seen Ospreys and Great Crested Grebes mating , Adders, Green Woodpeckers , Dippers, Pied Flycatchers and much more. My son -in-law's very talented brother, Nicholas Hill has kindly let me use some of his guitar music to accompany this video.

My monthly video of pics and video clips mostly in the Ulverston area and Leighton Moss. The month started cold then it rained non stop but on the 30th March I had a great day - Kingfisher, Osprey , Adders, Buzzards Kestrels Barn Owl and Short Eared Owl. Bit out of the ordinary with a Traction Engine from Old Hall Farm.

Continuing to record nature walks in my local area of Ulverston. February has been a really wet month and I managed to get a bit further afield. Shap for Red Squirrels and Leighton Moss to get in a hide for cover..... Only short glimpses of Kingfisher and Barn Owl unfortunately.
January 2024 - A Month of Firsts

After an awful December when I rarely got out due to weather, January has been pretty good. My first Short Eared Owls, First Red Grouse, First Dippers of the year and all within 10 minutes of home.

My October 2023 experiences with nature around my hometown of Ulverston, Cumbria. Kingfishers, Roe and Red Deer , Buzzard ,Egrets , Fungi etc..... Nearly 100% with Nikon Z9 hand held and various lenses such as the Z100-400mm , Z180-600mm and Z800mm.

Trying to capture birds and wildlife in my local area. This months stars are the local Kingfishers, Bearded Tits at Leighton Moss and a Sparrow hawk at Cumbria Woodland Photography Hide. I know I could do with an external directional microphone so Ive left most of the ambient sound on and added a free ambient background.

In my monthly video, I try to show the local beauty and nature around Ulverston. Spoonbills and Great Egrets were at the RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss but everything else is local to Ulverston. The second half of this video is entirely Kingfishers which I have been lucky to photograph and video. I particularly like the Slo-mo sequence of it tossing and playing with a Minnow it caught. Video of Barn Owls, Avocets ,Osprey , Marsh Harriers, Kestrels and Peregrine . I try and get out with my camera as often as possible in my local area of Ulverston , South Cumbria, This month I visited the Isle of Mull for a week which is the subject of a standalone video. Equipment used Nikon Z9 and Z7ii Mostly using Nikon 800mm and 2x converter.
White Tailed Sea Eagles and Puffins - Isle of Mull 2023

My first ever trip to the Isle of Mull. There for 8 days and didn't get wet once and didnt see a Midge. We did see Otter, White Tailed Sea Eagles , Puffins and Deer. Mull charters were booked for the Eagles and Turus Mara for the Isle of Lunga for the Puffins - both excellent trips. A combination of Nikon Z9, Z7ii iPhone and Drone for pics and videos.

A couple of hours from Monday and most of Tuesday. As the light went Tuesday, the Lake calmed and some of the fast boats did a run. It looked fast and it was - 126mph! When all the noise was happening, a Kingfisher landed on the fence close by -magic!

Lovely images! I like the mix of wildlife and landscape. Where did you get the Sea Eagle pics? We will be there in May, and I'd love to chase them up. Lunga booked for puffins!
Scott - thanks for nice comments. This was my first trip to Mull - Sea Eagles were nearly all on Mull Charters boat. Need to book in advance and try and get on a photographic trip where they limit numbers to 6 otherwise it might be too cramped. Lens wise they were all taken with 100-400mm lens - they come in fast but close. Lunga is great and again mostly 100-400mm although I did buy a 70-200mm for this trip but sold it when I got back. Have a great trip.
