Please is a band from the late 1960's which had never released a single album together, yet the band's music has influenced the members' works across their other groups (vast in numbers) whom all became majorly respected within the rock n roll underbelly of progressive and experimental music. Examples would be bands like T2, Gun, Neon Pearl, Bulldog Breed, Three Man Army, the Flies, and the Bak...

I love the way Paul sang in this one. He did sound nervous but overall it sounded amazing. It felt like Pete Best was rushing a bit.

Wow, just found this thank you!!! I sing it in jazz way, AND was in the Beatles fan club (it being my era!!), and I never knew they'd done a version of this!!! Slightly strange one to pick for an audition tho...(and pre Ringo I see!)

This session must have been a wake up call... George's solo sounds like absolute garbage compared to the tight and wonderful versions he did after this. Flubbed notes and just sounds lost in general. Just a year later this would be a perfect performance by George. (didn't look up exact dates... assuming they were recording for Parlophone a year later.)

Love of the Loved" is a song written mainly by Paul McCartney, credited to Lennon-McCartney. It is one of his earliest compositions and featured in the Beatles live act in their early days. The group recorded the song at their 1962 audition for Decca Records, but never issued it on any of their official releases. Instead, Cilla Black recorded it for her debut single, which was produced by George Martin. The single reached No. 35 on the UK Singles Chart in October 1963.[1] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_of_the_Loved

John Lennon wrote "Hello Little Girl" near the end of 1957, around the same time Paul McCartney wrote "I Lost My Little Girl". Lennon described it as one of his first finished compositions. Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn describes it as "the third song he wrote (but the first to stick)". According to Lennon, he drew on an old "Thirties or Forties song" that his mother sang to him. Lewisohn identifies it as the 1939 dance-band and film number "Scatterbrain". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hello_Little_Girl

George faltered a bit in the first solo, but it was okay, Paul didn't sing well, but they really had potential, they were just nervous. If they were given one more chance, they would have done great job. But the drums are terrible..

John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono would later perform the song with Chuck Berry on an episode of The Mike Douglas Show, aired on February 16, 1972. During the performance, Ono attempted to add her own wailing vocalizations to the song, visibly irritating Berry and Lennon; eventually, technicians disconnected Ono's microphone for the remainder of the set. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memphis,_Tennessee_(song)

The Beatles never recorded the song during their heyday, but the group hadn't completely forgotten it. On January 29, 1969, between takes during a recording session, George Harrison began idly singing and playing "Crying, Waiting, Hoping." Paul McCartney and John Lennon jumped in immediately with their backing vocals, as they had in their early days, and Starr accompanied them. Harrison played the Donald Arnone bridge from memory. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crying,_Waiting,_Hoping

If that's true that's a beautiful sign not all George's feelings of his band mates not recognizing his contributions as a lead completely true. The Joy the shared music they had must have been able to cut through any tension they had developed.
