I played trumpet on this theme tune along with Stewart Curtis on Sax. I also did various other sessions for Stephen Green. He was a really nice talented musician and easy to work with.
Thank you so much, Dave, for leaving your comment. After a 13-year wait, it's truly wonderful to have someone who performed on the track reach out and share extra details. I tried tirelessly to find a way to contact Stephen when I originally uploaded the track to ask for his permission. I would have loved to have heard the HQ version or any cuts, but unfortunately, he seems to be absent from the internet. I know it might sound a bit odd to be so captivated by an instrumental piece, but there's just something about it that I adore. Do you still play the trumpet professionally?
Hi Martin, yes - still playing trumpet for various sessions. Working with Stewart Curtis very soon with Mari Wilson and the New Wilsations - another 80’s pop icon!! 👍

@@martinplopo yes have been searching high and low only 1 is the version with the audience from the original studio recordings in high quality

There's a site called 'pp meldrum' (top Google result for that search) which has a slightly higher quality version, in stereo. You have to register before you can downoad anything. Search through the member uploads by description for 'noel' and you'll find this among the few results. There's also a good quality upload of the 1999 end theme, which was a slight reworking of the original tune.
