Aluminum Bronze Ant-bed Explosion
Переглядів 6545 років тому
I wanted to try and cast an ant bed in aluminum bronze. I have never seen one done in aluminum bronze, so I was going to give it a try. It had rain early this week, but not much. I thought the ground was dry enough, but I was wrong. This is why when you are working with almost two thousand degrees molten metal you should always wear your PPE. I’ve done lots of ant bed in aluminum and I only had...
Brass Lost Foam Casting a Silhouette
Переглядів 1,1 тис.5 років тому
The lost foam casting was done of a Silhouette portrait. I used wall plaster to help keep the details of the portrait. The brass I use came from a radiator which I melted down into bars to help clean up the brass.
Aluminum, Brass and Copper Egg Casting
Переглядів 2,3 тис.6 років тому
In this video I will show how to clean and prep chicken eggs, melt aluminum, copper and brass and pour into each egg. I also show how to sand them down with different grit sand paper to a smooth finish. The final step is using a buffing wheel to get a mirror finish.

Ant Bed Casting From Beginning to End
did you make the fan/mixer ?
Is your furnace DIY or from a company?
It’s a DIY, made it myself.
What's the long red hose/pipe connected to? Compressed air?
Yes, it’s connected to my air compressor located in my shop.
@@dalemiller9444 thank you.
Absolutely awesome setup my friend. I have been researching these builds because I am getting ready to do a bunch of castings for parts that are for obsolete engines and equipment. Thank you for the awesome build.
Thanks, you won’t be disappointed with this setup.
ALLAAHU AKBAR. SALAM FROM MUSLIM BROTHER IN JAKARTA INDONESIA.
WOW.... Thats a real nice piece of equipment I didnt even hear that lid drag at all. I really want to know how you got that inside lining so perfect. looks like its was some kind of cement mix and you made a mold or something
Thanks, the liner is 3000 degree refractory. It looks and feels like concrete but it can withstand 3000 degrees f. I used a 5 gallon to get the inside form. Works great, I can melt copper, brass and iron with no problem.
Where do you get fan on end of nozzle
Made it myself out of a large washer.
@@dalemiller9444 what did you cut it with
I have all the other parts but I have been stumped on how to make this. There is another video on here that shows the something like it but doesn't say where he got it. Maybe you could make a video on that
Very good idea for fuel burner i like it, 👍👍👍 what is the highest temperature ? can you melt iron ?
check my furnace if you like ua-cam.com/video/cM2kQs-Wy9Q/v-deo.html
Hello. I am interested to know if you can manufacture this burner in series?
Dale, add you email address to you "about" page on youtube so people can contact you.
Do you have part on part on the end that gas and oil sprays out of
4:15 miren eso amigos que hermoso que hermoso
Nice job. Did you make the nozzle as well? It looks a bit like a Nudge burner 🤔
No, the nozzle is a Hago Siphon Nozzle SN 609-8 (.75 GPM) with Hago Adapter, SN 609-56. I think I bought them on Amazon. I did make the spin vain.
Without a doubt, the best laid out and executed design of any waste oil furnace/forge/smelter on UA-cam. The real clincher though has to be the homemade outriggers at all four wheels.
Thanks, I did see someone build a similar burner. I couldn’t find screw jacks that would work, so it built my own.
Yes, those stabilizers are a nice touch!
Thanks for this straight forward build. I'll be keeping this design in mind. .....for both applications of heat and foundry!
Great tutorial. Fire ants are a plague, kill them all.
Antes: is it summer? No why? Is getting unusually hot 🥵😵😵😵
those steel molds worked pretty nicely. i may have to try that sometime. cheers
A box in wrench makes a great mold.
Great video
I did this recently with a huge ants nest, all the aluminium just disappeared. The next day I heard the internet had gone down in Peking 😎
Can you list the parts
Parts list is at the beginning of the video.
Nice video. Out of the three elements. Which one is the strongest in durability? Which one took more heat to melt?
Brass seems to be more durable, copper takes more heat. Copper melts at 1983 degrees, brass is 1710 degrees and aluminum takes less heat to melt at 1220 degrees. Aluminum is also easier to pour.
@@dalemiller9444 Thank you for your response.
Could be possible , that you can send me the list of parts that you show on your video ,I will like to build one like yours my email guscal242@yahoo.com please thanks
can we use this in a kiln
Very nice job! This came out great, thanks for sharing this method.
Thanks, always like to try different methods of casting.
Nicely done!
Wow, you have got this down!
Me gusta mucho amigo🔥🔥
Gracias amigo
nice work! this is the first lost foam with plaster video ive come across apart from mine. nice to see the the plaster held up to brass temperatures. I've only tried with aluminum so far. Cheers,
Thanks, it does create a finer finish. I also cast chicken eggs with plaster that turned out good.
Appreciate showing the work this is incredible, as I was wondering how Solid gold, silver, and copper eggs could be made. I am curious about something else, just as metal egg was made from the actual shell of a real egg, do you know of a way to make a solid egg shell, made of metal, preferably one that opens like children's Easter egg toys, maybe it screws together(each half of the egg shell), main point is surface should be smooth and polished, without any abrasion.
Sizing of the Metal egg shell has to be perfect, because I want to fit an inside of the metal egg, so the egg should be secured tightly on the inside of the metal egg shell. Appreciate your feed back.
I like the idea, but no I don’t. It would be something to try, but it would be very difficult. I will have to try and see how it could be done with the material i have.
Very nice
Good thing all those ants all went out for dinner :)
this is awesome, thanks for sharing with us
Wow! Looks like people🥰Great Art🙏🏼
2:55 cool! ant popcorn!

nice
P SARANRAJ thanks
Magnificent
Definitely consider getting a barrel in which you can soak the casts in overnight before hitting it with the power washer. If you can rig up a recirculating pump like a parts washer you can reduce the power washer time to just the final detail and keep from turning part of your yard into a mud hole.
Renville80 Thanks, I’ll have to try that.
You are a Murderer
DR!FT League NITRA And you are a child that has never had the pleasure of being stung by fire ants. Do some research next time before showing off your “intellegince”.
Renville80 I am 48 years old and I was stung by these ants a lot but they are animals they Need to do this to defend them selbes the question is what have you done to this creatures that they attack you
Thats awesome man. Professional work.
Cliff thanks!!
Glad we do not have such ant problems here up north but if we did I would like to try this . Very cool ART
Joe Guilfoyle we have a big problem with ants here. You have to watch where your kids and grand kids play are they will have ant bites all over them. You even have to keep a close eye on you pets.
That sucks ,I saw fire ants first hand in shreveport Louisiana and I was amazed at how fast they could rebuild . And yes I was told to leave the piles alone but used a stick to push it over and man they stormed out fast and rebuilt it all by the next day . Here in upstate NY we are going to get 5-8” of snow . No regular ants for 6 months now. Thanks for the response, keep up with the art and help controlling the population.
Please make more of these.
AFishBicycle I will.
While I've always seen these castings from anthills displayed with the mouth of the anthill as the base of the finished artwork, I've wondered how intriguing it might be to add some channel strut to the mouth before the aluminum hardens and displaying it as a suspended work, mimicking how it REALLY was...
Jeff Anderson good idea, I think I might try that to see how it turns out.
Jeff Anderson good idea, I think I might try that to see how it turns out.
another option is to drill holes into the base so you can suspend it with a chain, rope, or wire
Neat, sweet and complete.
Beautiful
At least u dont killl ants..
Beautiful
M Kuda thanks
Was it an active nest, i didn't see any ants
johnny brandon No, the ants had vacated the mound after the previous rain.
No, gave them an eviction notice beforehand
