Great video! Appreciated. Thank you Sir! How long is the pre-set gauge line? Or is it just where the boom is 90 degrees level?

You just need to get the top of the boom to 19’8” when you have it on the deck.

The vang control line is not pulled. The vang arms on the boom are back against the boom. The vang should only get tighter from this point as you pull the vang control line. Please let me know if there is still a question. Joe

Hello, Just to confirm, you have the kicker/vang set to your forearms length off the deck - but is that with the kicker/vang off or on? It looks to be off - but wanted to be sure. Thanks

Hi. They are close, however they do move the sail in different ways. The inhaul adjusts the sail right above the window and the Cunningham moves the draft forward in the entire sail. Very basically speaking.

This is good enough, thank you very much. I just don't have any other Finn sailors in proximity and seems like this knowledge is passed via talks. 😀 I wish somebody did a video explaining that. I know it's an art and science, we just need to start somewhere.

I'm lucky to get interested in this 2 weeks after this video came out :) Great video! Thanks! I don't really get why they need the outhaul and cunningham together if they are so close and pull in almost the same direction. Probably I'll need to read a little more on this.

I have done a lot of Topaz Gennaker sailing in the last 15 years. These are great instructions and very helpful for someone doing this for the first time. 👍 The only thing that I would have done differently is that the tack rope that leads to the end of the bowsprit should be rigged as short as you can get away with. If you have it slightly too long the Genneker will 'wander/oscillate' while it is flying which can lead to control problems in higher winds. We never have the tack of our sail further than 2-3 inches from the end of the sprit even though it means that the sail doesn't fully go down the chute. Really good advice in this video thanks and that was a great trick with the tiller extension 👍
