My most CHAOTIC week yet! Pantry Challenge Week 3!
Welcome to week 3 of my 2025 Pantry Challenge! 🌟 My most chaotic week yet!
The idea is simple: make your own rules, avoid grocery shopping as much as possible, and use up the food you already have at home. Here is a link to the video where I go over the rules I set for myself: ua-cam.com/video/v0vINPbYwMs/v-deo.htmlsi=GncNzz_6vNHmxHjN
No grocery shopping for the entire month with a $25 emergency budget (except for two exceptions): Exception 1: If I need goodies for my brand-new freeze dryer (I’m so excited to experiment with it!). Exception 2: Social activities, like meeting friends for coffee, or the occasional family takeout dinner.
Check out my pantry tour if you haven't already where I share what’s in my pantry, fridge, and freezer in my next video so you can see what I’m starting with: ua-cam.com/video/1Gn0MSj3sts/v-deo.htmlsi=x_FR93IypMtqSy0J
Why I’m doing this challenge: ✨ Save money after the busy holiday season. ✨ Prevent food waste by using up what we’ve already preserved, grown, or hunted. ✨ Learn what we use the most of and what preservation methods work best for us.
I hope this inspires you to think about your own pantry and how you can use what you already have. Stay tuned for updates, meal ideas, and more as I work my way through January (and hopefully half of February) without grocery shopping!
If you’re participating in the pantry challenge, I’d love to hear your rules and goals in the comments. Let’s do this together! 💪

Homestead Haul from Maine & New Hampshire shopping trip!
You can definitely prep them ahead of time! I’ve even prepped and frozen them (unbaked) for freezer meals.
Oh that’s so sweet of a gift
I recently made homemade pop tarts with apple puree made from our apples last year. Also great is using homemade jelly! I got lazy and made handpies from some christmas gift apples, ate some froze some. Now have apples from a friend...😅 poptarts are a bit involved...so not sure. Im a bit over 200$ with my no spend month, but i gave myself grace. I wont let my normal use one buy 2 suffer. When 15 yr old grandson is here he spoiled loves to help shop and blows my budget. We are microfarm/homestead. Garden can freeze dry dehydrate...2.2 acres raise our own meats pigs, steer, chickens. Rarely eat out its just not as good as homemade. Tonight is homemade pizza, dough is making in the zojurishi bread maker.😊❤ nice vid...
Thanks so much for your comment - homemade pop tarts sounds wonderful! This was one of my favorite childhood treats. You're so right, homemade is always so much better. I have some homemade raspberry jam I can use, so I may have to add that to my list of things to try!! :)
where is your husban?
Great video! Excited to how the rest of the month goes!
Thanks so much! I am also excited to see how the rest of the month goes!! :)
Desicant packs that absorb oxygen will increase shelf life, smaller jars will help because your not always opening the jars. I wish I had more time to bust out the dehydrator. I always wondered if vacuum sealing small portions would drastically increase shelf life.
Thank you for the tip! I just got a pack of oxygen absorbers with my freeze dryer and heat sealer! I will make sure to pack up my future projects better so they have a longer shelf life :)
Hello Gorgeous 😊
Miso soup is good for using up the tofu
Thank you for the suggestion! I have never made this before - I'll have to look up a recipe :)
Take that gr deer your not fond of, do equal portions with a good seasoned sausage make chili, or bell pepper casserole with it. Also there is a jerky tube press that takes ground meat and lays it out in strips for "jerky" but not as shelf stable. We raise our beef pigs chickens. We have done duck, rabbit not a fan of duck at all. Rabbit was ok. We have done quail, we have eaten but not a fan too many bones but love the eggs. We also garden. And i can and freeze dry. Meal prep or plan is my biggest challenge as i work 12s and too exhausted to eat, yes he cooks awesome i might add! But i do my best. Nice vid a little echo tho? Ive got 2 huge upright freezers, 2 side by side, a large than you imagine larder, keep doing what you do.
Thank you for the suggestions and encouragement! I think chili would be a great idea to use that deer meat, maybe I'll cook that up with that spicy chicken sausage :) I will also see if I can figure out how to set up a microphone with my camera - I am very new at this, so I appreciate that feedback :)
Thanks for sharing❤
Thanks for watching 🥰
Well now I want to do this lol
You should!! I think it’ll be a fun challenge 🙂 this will be my first time doing it- an I’m glad I’m finally participating!
Get a tray like a LG dog plastic tray in those crates. Lol I put one under their perch and put some shavings in it. I slide it out every few days and dump it. Easy peasy
That is so smart!! Thank you for the tip :)
Improve your UA-cam channel
Awesome content! I was watching your video and thought that you could easily boost your video views by improving your metadata (titles, tags, and descriptions). It’s a simple tweak, but it could help you grow faster! I’d be happy to share some insights with you if you’re interested.
Love it. Great job. Even my cat loved watching the girls enjoying their treats.
Thanks so much! 🥰
Wow, great functioning coop. Sounds like a lot of planning ahead of time, a few tweaks after, perfect. The girls seem very happy. Awesome job building.
So, about 0.7-1.3Lb dried Math checks out
I'm so new to dehydrating, I guess I didn't really know what to expect but I think I'm more surprised at how much it shrunk in size! The dogs will love it though :) I am really excited to give it another try in the freeze dryer to see how the two methods compare.
Love from Pakistan ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cool!! What a pretty bee. So... What's the purpose of the dot? To keep track of how old they are? Do you replace them after a while or anything?
Exactly! The colour tells you what year the queen was born & it also makes it just easier to identify & find her among all the worker bees. The colony actually has the ability to Re-Queen themselves if something happens to their queen, or if she’s not doing a good job. However, if they aren’t successful- you can purchase a new queen 🙂🐝 they are very interesting little critters!
@TheBirdsAndBeesHomestead Ohhh that makes sense! Thank you so much for sharing videos of your bees. And for raising them. They're so important to the environment and such cool lil critters! Someday I'd like to do the same and make a flower garden for them ☺️
I can’t wait to see the follow up!
What kind of wristwatch do you have? My girlfriend saw it and i want to secretly get it for her for her recent remission from cancer

It’s a garmin fenix! I bought it to run an ultramarathon because it has an amazing battery and has GPS/navigation- I luckily was able to find it on sale at the time. But, Garmin does have lots of different watch options with different capabilities and price ranges 🙂 it was a great upgrade from my old Apple Watch- would recommend! ⌚️
Part two isn't uploaded 😐

I tried to comment the link for you to find it- hopefully it worked! I uploaded them at the same time 🙂
*ohh my 'bee' it's the video BEFORE the pt 1. They're out of order and I didn't look hard enough lol I saw pt 2 already I just thought the second half would have you finding and marking the queen 😆 Can't wait to see it!
@@SummerAlleriaWindrunner omg I did not realize they posted in the wrong order 🤦♀️ thank you for flagging that- I’m so new at this 😅 I scheduled them to post at the same time- next time I’ll have to delay part 2 by a few minutes to be sure! Working on the queen marking short right now 🙂 thank you for your comment!

Epooc paint pen being claimed as safe for animals and bees is funny
I wonder how many times she gets stung by bees when it happens
ua-cam.com/users/shortsRwtXY9eH6CQ?feature=share
I may have gotten lucky this time… but let’s just say I’ve definitely had to upgrade to better gloves 😅
How long before they lay like months because my friend he raised his own from hatchlings.. isn't it generally like 3 months or something or is it just always determined when they're ready?
I think it generally is based on their age! I'm brand new at keeping chickens, so I'm learning as I go. But when I got my first 6 chickens they seemed to all start laying around the same time but I just got 3 new ones, and for some reason my black one is still not laying even though the other two are, and it's been weeks! There must be other factors that determine when they're ready.
I only took care of chickens from living with someone as a roommate but it was a brief time maybe a month or two and I've always wondered more about and you very informative thank you for your video❤😮
Thank you for your comment :) they are certainly cute and interesting little birds to get to learn about!
Some chickens have little combs for life and they never grow bigger, so that might not work for all breeds but the color theory is interesting!!!
It's funny to see how different each breed of chicken is! My white chickens had large floppy comb since the day I got them. My brown ones have short comb, that only grew slightly by the time they started laying. I definitely want to always keep a variety of different breeds, because it is so fun to see how different they are :)
@TheBirdsAndBeesHomestead I know right!?! I'm pretty new to this chicken thing, only about 2 years in, but I keep finding all these amazing, adorable, versatile breeds I want someday 😁
I had no idea how many breeds there were! I got my first chickens from the local chicken feed store and they asked if I wanted white or brown... lol it wasn't until I joined local poultry Facebook groups that I realized how many different/cool breeds were out there :)
Poor animals
They get homemade sourdough bread, and fresh fruit and veggie scraps regularly :) I promise that they are spoiled, and got lots of treats!
yoo it has 2 faces
The chickens are certainly more creative than I am!
😂 🤣 beautiful!
😂😂😂
thats a spooky pumpkin!
Love it 🥰
Same
It really turned out way spookier than I could have imagined! lol
A cardboard box of bees is such a funny image in my head holy gods jtjejdjdhdb
I couldn't believe it when this man took a cardboard box out of the passenger seat of his vehicle! lol
Looks so delicious!! 😍
Thanks so much! :)
You're like the first ever female apiarist I've seen who works in full gear. All the other women apiarist scoop bees into a new hive bare handed in a tank top. While male apiarists are the ones who go out in full gear.
That’s so interesting, I’ve never noticed that before but now that I think about it- that’s so true! I’m brand new at this, so maybe once I’m more confident, I’ll get more comfortable with less gear. Maybe I’ll also build up some immunity as I get more stings 😅🐝
