Gateway theory is similar to Broken Glass Theory and it postulates that the use of a less serious drugs such as marijuana may make some1 more susceptible to use harder drugs (i.e. meth, her0in and crack-cocaine). This runs parallel with the idear that a petty cr1me is a predict0r of more hein0us crime, for example someone who would throw a brick thr0ugh a window i5 more likely to burglarize 🏍😷 *mama crying*
For a non American, this lecture explained the healthcare financing system in a comprehensive and accessible manner. I would like to have a further discussion on why outcomes are not better than other countries, in the Global North, despite high per capita spending.
I'll TELL ANYONE , VALIUM WILL CERTAINLY HELP TO CALM YOU . IF A PERSON TAKES MORE THAN PRESCRIBED OR ACTUALLY OVERDOSES ON VALIUM , THAT IS CERTAINLY NOT REASON TO PUT IT IN A BAD CLASS OF MEDS . WITHHOLDING MEDICATIONS FROM PEOPLE THAT NEED IT IS FAR MORE OF A CRIME THAN DOCTORS PRESCRIBING IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE NOTICED IN THE LAST FEW YEARS HOW CERTAIN PEOPLE AND GROUPS ARE COMING DOWN ON THE GOOD MEDS THAT REALLY WORK WELL FOR MOST PEOPLE AND PUSHING JUNK PRODUCTS THAT A PERSON CAN DO WITHOUT !!!!!!!!!!!!! DRUG COMPANIES HAVE BECOME VERY PROFITABLE AND POWERFUL !!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY CAN"T AFFORD FOR A PERSON TO STAY ON A CERTAIN MED TO LONG BECAUSE THEY KEEP BRINGING OUT NEW PRODUCTS ( NOT GOOD MEDS ) EVERY DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHEN I FIND A MED THAT WORKS WELL , I DON'T WANT TO CHANGE . THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'M ADDICTED TO IT , I TAKE IT BECAUSE I NEED IT , JUST LIKE THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHEN A PERSON TAKES MEDS AS DIRECTED , THEY WORK WELL . FOR THOSE THAT ARE GOING TO ABUSE MEDS , THEY WILL PROBABLY OD AT SOME POINT IN THEIR LIFE BUT THE REST OF US SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FORFEIT OUR MEDS AND SUFFER BECAUSE OF IT . A PERSON THAT SHOOTS SOMEONE WITH A GUN , THAT'S NOT THE GUN'S FAULT , IT'S THE PERSON AND HOW THEY CHOOSE TO HANDLE WHAT'S IN THEIR POSESSION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SAME WAY WITH MEDS OR ANYTHING ELSE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I TOOK ONE 10 MG VALIUM EVERY NIGHT FOR 10 YRS AND ONE DAY I DECIDED TO STOP . I QUIT VALIUM COLD TURKEY WITH NO HARMFUL EFFECTS AT ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEOPLE SITTING IN HIGH PLACES CANNOT BE SATISFIED UNLESS THEY CAN EXERCISE THEIR POWER AND CONTROL OVER US !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOME DAY THEY WILL REAP WHAT THEY HAVE SOWN -----Ernest E. Johnson
Herbal supplements remains the best remedy to cure Herpes Virus completely. I ordered Dr Aluda natural herbs product which he sent to me and gave me the prescription on how to take the supplements for 1 month, after which I went for test and my lab results came out negative from Herpes Virus. Dr Aluda on UA-cam is the best herbal doctor to give you a complete cure for any kinds of STIS. he's specialized in curing multiple fibroids, HPV, Cancer, Cold Sore and many more..
Thank you❤🙏
Herbal medicine i received from Dr Ogbebor herbal centre UA-cam channel cured me.🌳🌳🌱🍀
I did so much research about Human papillomavirus and founding out that it causes cancer I was really scared, it is my greatest joy that I am not dead before finding a cure to it from Dr Madida on UA-cam that finally cured me permanently.
Is that field oversaturated?
You can look up labor information on the Dept of Labor website www.bls.gov/ooh/ The short answer, I believe no because the skill set needed can be applied to a various of public health positions.
Thank you for the useful information! Can I ask you one more thing? I'm a little lost as I don't know what to study for my Bachelor in order to become an epidemiologist. Can you name a few majors please?
You can major in public health, statistics, to a wide range of majors. I would suggest meeting with an advisor and picking out a program you would like to attend in grad school.
@@sarahbaronpublichealthscie6882 Thank you!
Does it matter which school you get your masters from? Is it worth spending more money at a top tier school like Harvard or can I go to my local public school and be just as competitive in the job market?
It is important to go to a school that is accredited and works closely with their community and/or public health partners. You want to graduate from a school that is recognized by employers and gives you hands-on experience. You will see many programs give you internships and practicums. The name is not as important as the two items above.
I’ve been so torn about epidemiology vs virology as a career path, but this video really helped clear up some things! I am graduating with a Biology degree this fall. What would you recommend someone with a goal to become a epidemiologist do first after graduating?
Try to volunteer for your local health dept or research into a possible internship. Lived experience and talking to those in the field where you live now or want to go, is priceless. Also, interviewing someone in your career path is key. If your local community college or university has internships or practicums...explore the possibility.
Please am a student in Brigham youth university persuing a degree in public health which are the best courses to take please do help me.
Regarding computers, what do you need to be good at? Do I actually have to write code like Java and stuff or do I just need to be able to improve on and be good at using programs such as SPSS and excel?
Understanding computer programming is very helpful. To learn more about the academic pathway consider taking an Intro to Public Health course and/or Intro to Epidemiology. You can check out your local community college and/or university.
Could you differentiate b/w public health epidemiologist & clinical epidemiologist what i want to know is how their works is diifferent?
Overall public health epidemiologist works more in the public health setting, for example health dept vs. clinical epidemiologist is working possibly on clinical trials.
@@sarahbaronpublichealthscie6882thank you so much for the reply i hv couple of qs about both - is college matter for th master in both field like stanford graduate & other uni is there a pay scale difference b/w them & could you tell me the range for the starting pay for the both field.
In October i was admitted to Adventist Hospital Bakersfield, and i just want to say Thank You for saving my life. I had emergency surgery done on me and those good folks down there really made me feel comfortable before surgery and made me feel at home after surgery. A big hug and thank you from the bottom of my heart to ALL STAFF, Doctors on down. God Bless you.🙏
Thanks Sarah for sharing this valuable information. kindly I would like to know if It is exist this course MSc of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the universities or it requires to study separate of these 2 courses? Also to know the main role of epidemiologist regarding the CDC?
At the undergraduate level you can take intro to epidemiology and public health. You can also major and minor in public health. Epidemiologist typically have a graduate level degree (e.g., Masters in Public Health). There are many roles for epidemiologists within the CDC and vary by the area of interest and focus.
💕
How hard is it to become an epidemiologist? What are the requirements?
You will need to complete a bachelors, get experience and later get a masters....all this can happen really streamlined...it can start in community college, to college and masters. I got my masters started when I was in undergrad at Tulane School of Public Health. Here is a link www.publichealthdegrees.org/careers/epidemiologist/ But if you are really interested reach out to a professor in a community college or college to get a plan that works for you. Classes are Intro to Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Infectious Disease, Population Health classes, and more. All good stuff, applied math...If you let know what State you are in...I can point you to the some academic degrees. It is an exciting time to in be in public health. We are part of the solution.
@@sarahbaronpublichealthscie6882 I just found this video and I live in Texas. I am an upcoming senior in Public Health B.S.. Any and all information is appreciated. Great video by the way!
@@sarahbaronpublichealthscie6882 I have a degree in Applied Health and a certificate in epidemiology can I apply to a masters in Epidemiology?
Mam iam finished my bsc microbiology after Ido epidemiology or msc microbiology which is good for my career
It really depends on where you are located and what the jobs are like in your area. Look at the job you want to have and either interview that person or see their credentials. I would say either will work...but they are different careers paths. One is more focused on microbiology and the other could be more focused on epidemiology and disease trends.
Is it possible to be an epidemiologist and work more in the lab rather than an office setting?
They can work in either environments. It really depends on where they work from pharmaceutical company doing a study design on a drug effectiveness to teaching in a public health school to an epidemiologists working at a health department. A person who works in a lab more is a microbiologists. But a microbiologists can also have completed a masters degree in public health or have a strong epidemiologist background.
Do they wear a ppe suit sometimes?
If they are at risk of exposure to an infectious disease or to make sure they are not spreading an infection.
Very helpful.
I am happy to read this. A student did this as part of a class. I was super pleased with her interview. I plan to put up more interviews in the future.

You presentation on these chapters has been a great help. I hope you continue, I've been checking every week for you to upload.
It is so important to understand that sewer sludge aka biosolids is NOT just human excrement - it is a concentration of all domestic and industrial pollutants that go down drains and sewers. It has some good stuff in it, which plants can use, but a huge load of thousands of other contaminants. Please read what independent scientists have to say on this issue - Dr. Caroline Snyder - "Land-applied municipal sewage sludge (biosolids) is a highly complex and unpredictable mixture of biological and chemical pollutants. Biosolids generated in our large industrialized urban centers is very likely the most pollutant- rich waste mixture of the 21st century." Dr. Richard Honour - ""Few in any governments appreciate that nearly all chronic diseases are caused by long-term exposure to low levels of environmental contaminants and pollutants. We should be trying to minimize this exposure, not amplifying it. It is time to end land disposal of Toxic Sewer sludge, and look at cleaner, greener alternatives - gasification / pyrolysis." Let's get on the right side of history, and use this waste resource to make energy. It is time to stop covering Mother Earth with our cities' toxic sewage.
