2024 LEXUS GX550 OVERTRAIL+ WOBBLY WINDOW?!
At higher speeds there’s a good amount of movement in the glass when rolled down slightly. Anyone else seeing this?

I have a later run GX 550 OT, got it around August, first thing I did was test drive it, to see/check hood flutter. Could barely tell anything was going on. I assumed they addresses this issue on the later run 24, because mine barley nudges at all. I still raised the rubber bumpers evenly on each side about 4 spins up. It makes it a bit more snug... if yours is giving you issue let the dealer fix it, like they did with the later run models.

Glove Box is per designer as - saw this in videos on the LC300. it's designed to give a little when you hit your knee to it. It's common in other models too, don't worry about it holding up.
Sell your lexus pls
Don't park it under trees, falling debris will dent the hood.
Yeah I have this on mine too. A lot of the comments don’t know WTF they’re talking about as the issue is only on the driver side window and not the passenger. Did you mention this to the dealer? Did you get it repaired?
These are far from the previous generation quality of Lexus

Just picked up my GX 500 exactly like this one. Same Incognito color a d down to the rock sliders and overtrail roof wrack. I love it
My 21 Camry does this. Wifes RX 350 and now 500 are rock solid. 2016 F 150 I had prior also has the bouncy hood. All things considered, nothing bad ever came of it, just an annoyance if anything. I personally dont let it bug me. I just ignore it lol
I was ready to trade in my current suv and by the gx 550 luxury. During the test drive I noticed small vibrations coming while driving. Like micro vibrations that I felt in my back and neck. Very very strange. Anyone else notice it ?
I’m dealing with this now with case manager at Lexus on my overtrail plus. Unfortunately Lexus is saying that’s just how the Overtrails ride. They’ve initially refused to have their field technician evaluate it. That could change, because I’m waiting on my dealer to get in more Overtrails so I can drive them to see if different than mine. There are tons of owners online saying theirs ride smooth as butter. Coming from a 4Runner with AT tires so this is not a case of a car owner moving to BOF. At this point I’m actually hoping mine is a lemon so I can be able to have/keep a GX. Also, the lack of storage inside is a very real concern. But that’s something that we can all live with and find alternative solutions.
Are there fake engine sounds coming through the speakers?

My MDX has the same issue. Its because the hoods are made out of aluminum, so they are lighter and move around more with the wind. Actually, it's better material than sheet metal.
Looks like the mirrors redirect the majority of the air/wind onto your windows instead of having them go right around their shell now imagine it with regular single paned glass crazy wind noise. I suggest looking at those small fins for anti-buffeting and putting it along your inner mirror shell.
How often does one drive interstate speeds with the window partially down? That’s why the windows roll up.
Looks great! Are you able to use the rock rails to step in or are they too flush with the body?
They come out more when a door is opened
@@ugotknockedthefugout rock sliders are static. Aka they do not move when the door is open. And they are more flush to the body not used as steps
They can't be used as steps technically. But you could use them. Might risk slipping and falling
Good info regarding daily details. Roof Rack noise is important. Just a tip, the word "um" is used a lot.
Its crazy that these vehicles have the same problem as cars that cost half as much. Begs the question. What are you paying for if not attention to details ?

1:20 tint solved it for me. That tonneau cover just gets in the way of tall items. You can’t see anything in the back because the interior is black
Go tap on the hood and see it vibrate. Thinner than a beer can. We passed on the GX550 due to this issue and are going with the Land cruiser which doesn't have the issue

I went to Lexus service to fix the wobbly window…and they said they cannot fix it and it’s just how it is….i think that’s insane
What do you want the dealer to do? It’s design and aero related. It would maybe need some aero work on the a pillar or a complete redesign of the shape.

Well if you haven’t been paying attention yet Lexus is no more. They are now Toyota + models. Have you seen how much plastic is in their new interiors? So shameful of them to ruin what was once a respectable brand
My 04 tacoma has the same thing with the hood... its normal for it.
Your not the only one, I've heard this is an issue from a few GX owners. This is not something you expect from a 80k vehicle.

@@advapp yes the hood shouldn’t be flopping. The road noise is only significant with the roof rack on which is understandable. You’re right, the design isn’t about aerodynamics so we will hear a bunch of that direct wind

@@advapp man being 6’5 I’ve always struggled to fit comfortably in Lexus/Toyota but I’m very comfy in this! Haven’t taken it on anything longer than a 2 hour drive but the massage seats with cooling/heating is very nice for longer trips. Visibility is amazing. Floats in comfort mode. I really really enjoy driving. I had a lifting wrangler for 9 years and its night and day different for me

@@michaelmelnick1652 man I’m 6’5 and never have been able to fit comfortable in Lexus Toyota really until this one. I was always leaning the seat all the way back but then reaching forward for the steering wheel! As for comparing to the land cruiser I haven’t been in one yet!

Roof rack is normal with all cars that’s what happens when you put something blocking the airflow

yes twist the so they go, you count the twist on each side, so they are both even. I would say about 4 spins on each side. It makes its tighter, but Honestly I have a later run and my hood barley flexes or moves at all, did up the bumpers a bit just incase and its totally ok
The cool box is a waste of an upgrade. You cut your storage in half and all it does is blow AC air into it. Does not keep anything cold, my 2007 dodge caliber had it lololol
@@davidcantor293 I agree! It wasn’t really a selective option, they rolled out the gx overtrail+ in these exact configs as far as I’ve seen for the initial release. I thought it would be great, I’ve used it once or twice just to try it out. Have never needed it and really wish I had the extra space!
Same failure i faced in my Lx600 and i went to the dealer and they repaired it honestly i didn’t asked what did they changed but it makes huge difference if you want me to ask the dealer let me know

Some people might realize that if you order the cool box you’re giving up the main interior storage space for it. Other people might not realize it and just complain about it when they notice it later.
@@wjgreer well you might be right, but you can’t actually order from Lexus. Their initial roll out packages are standard. They came with all the features, HUD, roof rack, rock rails, upgraded sound system, and yes the cool box. They come as is, not really “an option”
@@JAXEStube the coolbox is a stand alone option on the 2024 Overtrail+, which is the vehicle reviewed here.
@@wjgreer this is my vehicle…while it’s listed as an “option” I’m saying the initial roll out of vehicles come with all the options “standard” as there is no ordering or changing of packages. They released these initial overtrail+ models with all “options” as standard.

@@nahiammastay6524 yes memory, massage and all were standard on my package! Heating and cooled. They say it’s an option you can select but they were all standard from initial release this way
I have two reserved because I could decide which trim level I wanted. I’ll likely cancel both and keep my truck

happened on my 5th gen 4runner too.. see if the GX has two rubber adjusters under the hood near the headlight, with some spiral grooves cut into them. You can twist them to make them sit higher so the hood won't be as bouncy.

How’s the wind noise with that roof rack? I like the way it looks but worried about noise?
Love Toyota/Lexus, but you can't even sell that truck to Carvana or CarMax, they wont take any Toyota/ Lexus V6 turbo for 2024. They're shunned trucks for ever. Buy an old model GX 460!

@@JAXEStube the reason you can't get these is because the land cruisers and GX 550 are having issues along with the other V6 twin turbos...thats why you barely have any LX, GX, land Cruisers on the lots, its not because their flying off the lot, its because their barely any coming in and the ones that arrive, their is always a consumer who does not fully know what's going on. I myself almost bought one, owning 2 lexus trucks and 3 Toyotas, I test drove GX 550 and the interior is very poor, the hood shakes at 60 MPH. Carvana or CarMax have serious restrictions on buying any of these preowned, they dont want them.. fix the issues make it true solid Toyota product, like the ones in the past, and buyers will come. For now, most of us already know... buyer beware! Dont buy 2024 model.
@@williamgalicia6219 I’ve yet to see a single recall or issue with the gx engine, and I just did another search and can’t find anything. Can you provide any info on this? They had port holds for issues with their transportation protection damaging the paint on vehicles. That’s it as far as I can say for certain.
@@JAXEStube do a UA-cam search and you will so many videos of Toyota engine issues 2024, including the GX and the land cruisers, LX, Tundras. My own sales person, who I have known for over 20 years said dont buy... thats all the proof I need. Everyone knows they are poorly made engines... even Toyota can strike out and strike out they did. maybe 2025 will be better, 2024 is a complete wipe out. Not only the engines, I test drove one, that a GM was driving, it has very poor interior feel, hood vibrates at 60 MPH... it's not a good truck, sad but true.
@@williamgalicia6219 not saying you’re lying but I’ve done extensive searching for this and just did again. I’m not seeing any recall or any issues with the gx engine anywhere. Not a video of an owner stating this, not a forum posts stating this, reached out to Lexus and not a single engine issue reported or anything from Lexus on any trouble or recalls. If you can provide a single GX engine issue I would love to see where you keep adamantly stating there is this info.
