I just had my first child, a baby girl, 5 months ago. Most beautiful little girl you ever saw. I would be damned if I didn't feel exactly the way Tommy Lee describes it when she first looked at me and wrapped her tiny little fingers around my finger. I would describe myself as the manly-man hardass type simply because that was the way my hardass ex-Navy father raised me. The first time my little girl smiled at me was a big ear to ear smile, and it melted my heart and made my ass cry, not embarrassed to admit it. That was when that feeling sunk in even deeper, and I TRULY understood. I would abso-fucking-lutely be on the warpath if anyone ever harmed her, and I absolutely would give my life for hers. It's strange exactly how fast life changes and how your views change once you become acquainted with that feeling. If you're a real parent, you know what that is.

I am not a father. I have 7 nieces and nephews. There isn't a one I wouldn't do the same thing for. In 2004 I was deployed to Iraq and I made myself a promise. I promised myself everyone of them would know how much I loved them. I tell them all every time I see them. Any one of them will tell you I would do this for them and never bat an eye. Any man worth his salt will fight for his family. My Dad instilled that in me. Awesome scene and Tommy Lee Jones played it to the bone!
