The Vinyl Vagabond's Liner Notes
Приєднався 17 кві 2006
I mainly post concert videos these days. I do not, and will NEVER monetize this channel. Support the artists.
I try to take these vids in a way that does not distract the people around me. If I'm in a spot where this is not possible, then I refrain from filming. These are strictly for the purpose of preserving a few memories for myself. If any artist would prefer me to take a video down, let me know and I will do so immediately.
I used to, (and maybe will again) spin rekkids with The Vinyl Community. Rockin' and Rollin' and Whatnot....

Stove/Smother (Eric's Trip) by Sloan
Live at The Concert Hall, Toronto ON
November 30, 2024
Sloan celebrated the 30th anniversary of their debut album "Smeared" with a couple of very unique shows for them. That album is the outlier in their catalog, taking cues from 90's punk rock, grunge and My Bloody Valentine, instead of the timeless power pop that they would become better known for afterwards. For me, this was my introduction to them, and this album will always have a special place in my heart. It also makes for a far heavier rock show than your typical Sloan concert, and it looked like the band was just having the time of their lives. They played the full album in its entirety for their first set, and followed with a second set of era-specific rarities and b-sides. This was not really a show for the casual fan, but for hardcore Sloan-heads like myself, it just doesn't get much better than this!
These songs were originally part of a split 7" benefit single for CKDU-FM, a community/campus non-profit radio station in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The b-sides features an Eric's Trip cover of Sloan's "Laying Blame". Sloan's recording was later featured on the DGC Rarities, Vol 1 compilation.
I NEVER thought I'd EVER hear them play this one live. What an incredible night!
FYI, I always try to take these vids in a way that does not distract the people around me. If I'm in a spot where this is not possible, then I refrain from filming. Live at History, Toronto ON November 27, 2024 *opening for Tokyo Police Club Audience member Luke was selected to join the band onstage when he held up a sign claiming that he knew the guitar parts of the song "Juliette". He killed it! They concluded with an instrumental snippet of, what I believe, is the song "Don't Think". I mislabeled it in the video as "Fresno Chunk", although, in true "boo...

Amazing, I remember this from DGC Rarities cassette! Lucky to see this live.

Did you by chance record Marcus Said? That was always my fave.
@@HeyDanieJ It was awesome but no, I was just living that moment 😎. I noticed others filming so maybe it'll surface at some point
Thanks for posting, I really wanted to be there. Awesome that Jennifer performed, loved Jale back in the day!
Love the old switcharoo!
Nice! Love Rag Doll
possibly my favourite « sloan » song 😂 thanks for posting! glad it touched your diehard heart ❤️
OMG THANK YOU FOR THE FULL CAPTURE !!!!!!!!! Now I can cherish this moment forever. (I see myself in the dance pit!) star tat!
Craig with a Shadowy Men shirt on! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Nice. Greetings from Amsterdam. Hope James will come soon to The Netherlands.
Alas I could never afford tickets to see my most oft listened to and attempted to mimic music in my lifetime. But I am sooo happy that these guys sold out their shows and brought in all of the financial appreciation they deserve. Bravo Beat!
Such iconic musicians in their own way, but to have them collaborate is truly remarkable and a privilege to witness. I will never forget the Vegas show!
Great stuff. Thanks for uploading it.

@@L.E.55472 Hi Lis, im glad you enjoyed it! 👋 Hey, if you haven't already, you should take a minute to watch my vid of the opening band Hollerado performing the song "Juliette" with a guy from the audience playing guitar. It's a lot of fun and I think right up your alley 😎🎶🕺
Legendary LIVE act! Really good to see them rocking out a packed hall just like the old days!
Very nice though speeded up.
A longtime favorite. We are blessed to have these masters coming together to so brilliantly entertain us! ❤
I drove eight hours through rain and icy roads to see these guys in Reno. They canceled the show!

Incredible group no doubt. One of the best if not the best group in the world. Amazing music
I was there in Toronto in '84 when they played at the CNE Bandshell. It was a great show then and this one must have been epic.
Hello from New Hampshire! Love you guys, and yes I was there in '84.
One of the best progrock tracks.Period
In 1974 my lovely sister was born and one of the best pro rock albums was produced.

Great energy and groove! Really enjoyed these little shreddy licks thrown in. Great bass lines, Tony Levin is killing it. Love the slimy green Parker. Steve could bring some Les Paul shaped Ibanez(ARZ? Artist?) though. It would be more adequate imho. Anyway lovely performance.
I agree with you on all counts
Thank You for this Video!💗💗💗
Merci
thanks
I saw the Vegas show last week, which was supposed to be their last show. Amazing is an understatement. It was far and beyond the best concert I have ever seen. When giants get together to play extraordinarily difficult music with verve, joy, and ease, there is nothing quite like it. Hats off to these four geniuses.
No Title on repeat since the show in attempt to keep this energy bottled.
strepitosi
I saw Shannon tonight in Berlin. When she was singing that song she had tears in her eyes and me too🥹 You could feel her pain in her voice. So emotional.
was a life changing show
