I was there while aboard the USS Hector in the early 70's. Also separated from the Navy in late 70's at T.I. Dont recognize to much of it anymore, especially with all the houses and building going on. If I had to be separated from my family, Treasure Island was a great place to do it. I miss them days!

I miss hayward a lot. I came to hayward for My Master's in CS from Cal State East Bay in 2021. Lived in City View society. Now I moved back to my country India in 2024. Felt nostalgic by watching all these streets.

The building with the bow shaped roof at the corner of Tennessee St. and Broadway was a Purity grocery store, also on the north west corner of that same intersection was a Smiling Sam's Rexall drug store. Back up Tennessee St. the building that was the EL Rey theater is still there. I was born in Vallejo 1951, and have not been through since 1983, but some things are still recognizable. Named after Commander David Glasgow Farragut, my elementary school is still in use, though not a school now. Started kindergarten it's first opening, 1958.

It looks like a ghost town stuck in the 90s.

You missed the most important parts of Crescent City - the view of Castle Rock on North Pebble Beach Drive, for example.

Very high crime. Area is beautiful and worth seeing. Not much good to say about the day to day people there. Great place to visit but don’t take safety for granted. Seems population has really dropped over the years. Courts were pretty lax in the 90’s. A lot of drug activity in Redwoods surrounding small town. Some pretty crazy people there. Just over the border from Brookings, Or. close to Smith River and Pelican Bay prison.
