Game Audio Demo Reel: Sound Design for Cut Scene
Переглядів 1,7 тис.8 років тому
This is a fun little project I did to see how detailed I could get with just sound design and no supporting music. Can you tell what language the monster voices were originally? Note: This is not the original sound for this cutscene and I did not work on this game!
Game Audio Demo Reel: Adaptive Music- abridged

This is my demo (Short) showing the creation of adaptive music through vertical layering. The music was arranged in Cubase, mixed for the game in Fmod Studio, and implemented into the Unreal Engine 4 via blueprints.

Did this get you a job? Very entertaining video.

Hi Tristian what is the best way to contact you outside of UA-cam? Email? Do you have a website?
Great video!
This is incredible, the attention to detail and the descriptive quality. Well done sir.
that was amazing!
This is super helpful ! I loved how you used a guitar for the engine sound!
This is awesome Tristan, love using the electric guitar for the engine source material! Also with the recording of footsteps, was that the shotgun attachment on the zoom you used? How do you find using that? I've heard that the lack of anti-shock can be a bit of a problem. I have a zoom H5 though and I'd love an easy way like that to record footsteps etc.
You could have a friend assistant for that, or carry a stand and external shotgun nest for that
You sir! You have inspired me to work on my existing skills & learn more. Thanks a million :)
Very good video!
Amazing work. Where did you get the game from? I'm currently looking for demo games to implement sound into. Any pointers?
Really impressive :0 I hope yours working right now on some big projects
I'm no expert, still a student of the craft. Even now this is one of the best examples I've seen in demonstrating sound design/integration inside a game engine.
Phenomenal work! Loved your combat sounds in the God of War Sound Re-Design. Also I love Spyro Reignited Trilogy with all of my heart so I’m stoked to see you worked on it :)
Coolest demo reel ever!
Nicely done! The sound design and implementation are both cool! I am trying to do a similar sound design demo. But I am having problems setting up an FPS game like this in Unreal. Could you please give me a short description of how you put this demo game together? That would be extremely helpful! Thank you very much!
Fantastic work!
Hey Tristan. I saw your advanced game audio reel from 2016. I see from your updated 2020 showreel you worked on the marvel vr game as well as some great redesigns. In your opinion and experience what has been more beneficial to attain a progressive career in game audio, fmod or wwise. Love your work.
Tristan Panniers, is the audio programming necessary for sound designer to know? I mean is it required in nowdays to get a job in AAA studio?
Thank your for sharing I just came across your UA-cam. OMG this is what I needed for inspiration. I need to build a portfolio showreel for a job and needed to know where to get a game clip similar to the one you used. Could you be kind to advise?
The demo is a free project downloadable from Unreal :)
Super impressive - pleasure to watch!
Impressive demo reel!! And super inspiring for us sound designers in the world :D
May i ask you how did you set the UE project and how did you integrate it into a middleware?
Really well done demo and great sound design! I have a question, how were you able to take the elements from the other games and apply them to the Lake Side Cabin map in the Unreal Engine? Specifically the Shooter Game. I've been having trouble figuring that out completely.
YEAH! Great
this better of got you a sick job!
This is my type of asmr. Lol nice job
So inspiring. I hope to get to the same level one day.
thanks for sharing this, as someone who spends an ungodly amount of time in sound design it's really neat to see how to apply things in context
Thanks you helped me a lot.
This is amazing work, very inspiring :) . I wonder if for a future project it would be possible to change the state of the sounds entering the cabin depending on whether the door is open/closed. It seemed that when you went into the cabin the sound changed as though the door closed but the door was open. I'm currently studying an MSc in Sound and Music for Interactive Games and this is way above my level currently as I've just started but I definitely aim to achieve this.
Where are you studying/did you study that degree? I'm interested in music for interactive media but I can't find any course specifically for that subject
@@lorerecru I completed my MSc in Sound and Music for Interactive Games at Leeds Beckett University. I hope you find the course you are looking for :)
@@RyanMannixmusicisparadise Wow, I see. And how was it? Was it worth it? Would you recommend to study there? Was it difficult to apply? Sorry for so many questions 😅
@@lorerecru Hey, sorry for the late reply. Yes it was 100% worth it for me and others I know on the course, however, it's really down to you and what you're looking for.
@@lorerecru P.s. to apply I had to put forward a demo of some of my work and I believe then entry requirements were 2/1 or above in a degree in a sound or music related field. I would check their website for the current entry requirements though as it's a few years ago since I started there now.
Awesome stuff. I had no idea a guitar could sound so much like a Jeep!
Awesome!
This is amazingly well done!
Great Work!!!
So bitwig and sound forge?
fucking dope ! let me be your assistent !
amazing
This is so well done and informative that you could use it as a sound design overview tutorial. Sounds great, really well presented. :)
I think he speaks Russian .. "ты меня слышишь?" he said. I admire your work, I want to do the same. You're very cool! I began to quietly learn Fmod. Will you advise teaching videos? And tell me please, will Unity help in the sound design for me or is it just for programming games?
Very cool, man!
Wow ! This is not just impressive. its also intelligent!
this is amazing
This is great work! What program did you use to edit the video?
nice. hope this landed you the job
How did you get down into the audio middleware part of the process to use FMOD?
I feel like I have to thank you for that engine sound idea. Damn, I'm a guitarist for almost 10 years and I would've never thought of that!
Hey, great approach, and great job, on the demo reel!... did you purchase the environments from Polypixel and the elements from Epic, or are there demo versions? Cheers!
Hey whats up man stuff sounds great! Im currently working on my portfolio would love some tips if you have the time
Brilliant work man. I hope to have a demo reel as impressive as yours some day.
just do it!
