Building a Custom Chicken Coop (for my blind hen) DIY HOW TO
Join me on a journey of compassion and creativity as I construct a special chicken coop for my beloved feathered friend, Sarah Connor. Despite being blind, Sarah has captured our hearts with her resilience and spirit, and it's time she had a coop tailored just for her unique needs.
Not only is this project about building a functional coop, but it's also a testament to the bond we share with our animal companions.

I jarm know yen muckmark😅😅
Hi there amazing job on the stock. If you could please tell me what version of star of the county down is playing ? I can’t find it anywhere, and I need it 😂. Thank you.
I found it on premiumbeat! It’s a stock track
YOUR AWESOME GREAT JOB!!!!!!
Thanks Greg!
@KelleyMakes Your so welcome
Amazing job well done 🍻
Thank you! 🥂
impressive work on your video, thanks a lot !
Thank you!
This is a badass video and a stellar job! Nothing beats figured wood!😍
Thank you Michael! Yes I got very lucky with that piece, I didn’t see it in person before purchasing.
Where is "part 2"??....................................................................................................................................................................................................
In progress!
if you dont wanna blow 200 dollars on wood you can buy cheaper wood boards and glue them together
This is true!
Cant wait for part 2. Plus I am jealous, Your son have the coolest mom on the block.
@@Tsingh08 aw thank you! 🙏
That is beautiful craftsmanship. I own browning and weatherby rifles that rival your work. But if i may ask what is the song you used during the checkering part of the video?
@@kalibthomas2384 thank you so much! That’s a big compliment. It’s called “county down” but I’m not sure who the artist is.
Beautiful job!!!!
Thank you!
Great job! Both the craftsman ship and video were great!
Thanks so much!
Part 2?
May be a while, juggling luthier tools and a 4 month old isn’t easy 😉
great job ;)
Thank you!
Great job looks amazing
Thanks Dan!
Beautifully done. I've been a woodworker for many years. I have a Mossberg shotgun. I've never liked the look of the wood that was used. I've always wanted to try my hand at doing a new stock and forend for it.
@@jaydee5156 go for it! I think it’s a good one to start with because the inletting is relatively simple
Amazing!
Thanks Derek!
You do great work . I been looking for something like them for my mossberg 500
@@patsycullen6380 thank you patsy! It’s always rewarding doing DIY
nice work , be careful with sharp tools .
@@ששוןדוד-ר8ל thank you! I always am very careful!
Great Job! I have been a woodcarver for decades. Now I need to put them skills to work and customize my Mossberg 500. Thanks for the inspiration.
Definitely give it a try!
I bet this is a very heavy chicken coop but it is very esthetically pleasing . You put a lot of lumber into the build. Like you said you may have over engineered this project. I also bet you figured out you don’t need actual locks on the openings. A clip that requires an opposed thumb will defeat raccoons and opossums and be a lot easier for people to use.
It is very heavy! Haha my husband and his friend had to pick it up to move it into its final spot and it was a lot. If I’m completely honest, the locks are also for people. You’d be surprised the number of people (or kids) who try to open the doors 🤣
I know this is a year old video but I feel the need to comment anyway, that stock is a work of art. You should be very proud of your work.
Thanks rusty!
Hi Where is the next part? did you finish it? how does it sound?
@@alainhalimi3821 hi there! Haven’t been able to post the next part yet because life has gotten in the way. Hopefully soon
looks great . love the wood
Thank you!
What are these calipers called?
@@Guitar_Builder not sure but if you look up digital calipers on Amazon and dig around a bit they’ll come up!
Thanks, I really liked your video would love to see the rest of the series.
@@Guitar_Builder I’m hoping to be able to complete part 2 soon but I have a 4 month old son so things have been on hold ☺️
You made beautiful job Kelley , especially this curving or design on the stalk😮❤
Pięknie wykonana praca , zazdroszcze pani takiego talentu. Zawsze uwielbiam ogladac jak starymi technikami są wykonywane takie prace. Piękna osada karabinu. Pozdrawiam serdecznie
Understands and supports the Constitution, proud of her heritage, skilled woodworker, knows her way around the shop, not afraid to try new difficult things, great taste in firearms and even better taste in music. You are quite the catch.
What can I say… my husband is a lucky guy! 😉
Nice work keep it up 👍👍👍🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰
Nice work. Allow me to suggest a tool that would make this type of work easier. A Shinto Rasp. It's essentially a bunch of hacksaw blades welded together. I build guitars and this rasp cut my neck carving time in half.
@@TheSdrake1967 thanks! Someone had suggested that to me a while ago as well, I’ll have to try it out if I do another project like this!
Beautiful work
Thank you!
Am I the only one that sees a lypsinc problem in the intro of the video? was the audio recorded later?
It was recorded all at the same time, might be a UA-cam glitch 😊
I have done several very similar projects! Our techniques are very similar. I have a comment/question: 1st: I drill the concentric holes in the stock in exactly the same way as you do ; However, I find it very difficult to keep the larger hole and the pre-drilled smaller hole concentric. How do you do that? (Sometimes I cheat and use two 3/4 inch planks and laminate them together.) Ken
Unfortunately there’s no way that I know of to get them perfectly concentric, that’s why I’m pretty sure gunsmiths uses lathes to achieve this, that way it is perfectly concentric. I have a lathe but it’s too small to accommodate a piece as large as a stock AND the long drill bit that you’d need to do it. Maybe you could make a jig though. Greater minds than I would need to engineer that!
Very inspirational. Thank you for sharing.
That butt stock looks crazy awesome with that tiger stripe appearance it has going across the grain pattern like that.
Thanks! I got very lucky landing this piece of wood
Thanks that was an inspiration. I have an heirloom shotgun that I've shot twice. It needs a new stock. I'm trying to build the confidence to get to working on it. Thanks.
Amazing! I’m glad to hear it. Best of luck!
music? thank u, nice video
Amazing, if that’s your first go.
Thanks Alan! Turns out this might have been the easiest part of the build, the front plate is giving me loads of trouble!
@@KelleyMakes Hi Kelly, thanks for the reply. I was thinking of having a go myself, so am watching with interest. Have you posted the second instalment yet?
@@Drlush1 give it a try! I haven’t posted the next part because I had a baby recently and don’t have the time, but there are several other makers on UA-cam doing similar things. Check out John mangum. Also, buy the book the art of violin making. I got most of my information from these two sources!
@@KelleyMakes Super, thanks for the pointer. And many congrats on the new arrival.
I like what you are doing, I found some tips on checkering in this video (below). How not to overrun master lines, on the checkering. I have always loved the wood finish on many of the gunstocks. Has me going back to doing a true White Oak cabinet (clear), thanks. ua-cam.com/video/AAMspI1BeyI/v-deo.html
Hi Kelley, I inherited a nice piece of ironwood. I just so happened to want to make a Mossberg stock. 🙏🏻 How thick is the wood you used?
I don’t remember the exact size of the wood I used but it really doesn’t need much thickness. Go ahead and measure your current stock to see how it compares!
@@KelleyMakes Thank you! I really enjoy your videos!
Congratulations on a job well done!
Thanks David!
vous etes tres douer bravo
You go Gal. God Bles those hands who made this beautiful product.
Thanks friend!
Very nice work! E
The patient and clear narration was the most valuable part here :) great work! Is part 2 coming?
Thank you! It will be coming but not for a while unfortunately, life has gotten in the way. But I won’t forget about it!
Looks like a professional did work. Your attention to detail and fearless approach made video awesome
Thank you David! 🙏
I like seeing all artisans going about their business from sculptists to shoemakers and violins too. This is beautiful.
Thank you Stephen! Me too!
That gun looks gorgeous, well done. I'm from England and so agree with your second ammendment laws what allow you to own guns like that. You should be proud of that project as its so good for your first try. That tru oil really brings out the flower in that grain. Keep up the good work and those labour of loves.
Thank you Steve! Cheers from the USA!
Damn that’s a really nice process and result! Admire your skills! Maybe music choice would be a bit different? Classical music or jazz like elevator music. Sorry don’t wanna be that guy if this is your vibe stick with it.
Thanks Ches! Regarding the music choice, as Ricky Nelson said, you can’t please everyone so you’ve got to please yourself 😉
