White Mountains Hiking: Mt. Waumbek
Patrick and I headed out on 9/11 to hike Mt Waumbek. The trail takes you up Mt Starr King before a quick trip to Mt Waumbek. The summit offers little in the way of dramatic views but is a great easy hike for an NH 4k.

White Mountains Hiking: Carter Dome & South Carter

Patrick and I head out to hike the Carters, the goal for the day was to tackle all 3 Carter Dome, South Carter and Middle Carter. Due to the daylight situation we left Middle Carter for another day.
Adirondack Mountain Hiking: McKenzie Mountain

Andrew and I took a late summer trip to McKenzie Mountain just outside of Lake Placid. This was an interesting hike with some impressive scrambles and a nice lookout near the summit.
White Mountains Hiking: Mt Adams & Mt Madison
Переглядів 99Рік тому
Patrick and I ventured out to hike Mt Adams and Madison in the Presidential Range. This hike is a challenge no matter which route you take. We opted for the slightly more forgiving Airline Trail up to Adams and descended on Valley Way. The views from the summit are spectacular so be sure to pick a clear day to do this one.
White Mountains Hiking: North & South Kinsman

Patrick and I returned to the White Mountains after almost a year. We took on the Kinsmans in what was a pretty simple moderately difficult hike.
White Mountains Hiking: Mt. Tecumseh

My Brother and I set out to take on the shortest AMC 4000 footer Mt Tecumseh, fairly easy hike with clouded views from the summit.
Adirondack Hiking: Porter Mountain

Andrew and I set out to do one of the most popular high peaks with a little twist. We started at the Marcy Field lot and took the somewhat overgrown Blueberry Mountain trail to Porter.
White Mountain Hiking: Mt Jefferson

Andrew and I headed out for a hike of Mt Jefferson , short hike but challenging nonetheless
Adirondack Mountain Hiking: Ampersand Mountain
Переглядів 2534 роки тому
Andrew and I set on a wild weather day to climb Ampersand Mountain. This short hike has its challenges as you approach the summit with some tricky rock scrambles. If you manage to make it through these you will be rewarded with a great summit view of the Seward Range and the Saranac Lakes
Adirondack Mountain Hiking: Phelps Mountain

My brother and I set out to hike Phelps Mountain from the Adirondack Loj. Hot temps made this normally simple high peak a little more of a task but we still managed to get through it in a timely manner.

I hope everyone is OK during the current global pandemic. After hiking around 80 mountains and making a bunch of videos I put together a compilation of some of the lighter moments in the mountains.
White Mountains Hiking: Mt. Hale

Andrew and I set out to hike Mt Hale last fall (pre-corona so relax). Short hike with nothing much to see, nonetheless a nice day in the mountains is all we can ask for
White Mountains Hiking: Mt Carrigain

Andrew and I set out to hike Mt Carrigain in the heart of the White Mountains. Great views from atop the summit fire tower on this moderate hike.
Adirondack Mountain Hiking: Mt Marcy

My Brother and I set out to take on New Yorks highest peak Mt Marcy, great weather day and a fun hike that isnt as difficult as one would think. Great day, enjoy the video!
White Mountain Hiking: Mt Moriah

First hike of 2019 brought some shaky conditions with crumbling snow and standing water. We were rewarded for our efforts with some great views on the summit

Fantastic upload man, this looks so enchanting and simply beautiful!
Lovely scenery my friend!
Redfield alongside Gray Peak Skylight and Haystack I took out in 6 hours of my 21 hour hike from the Calamity Brook Trail to the John Brooks Lodge and spent 5-10 minutes on top of each mountain Redfield’s now the only High Peak that I’ve done multiple times
When I was there, it was initially foggy but after walking back from the summit the sky had cleared up enough that you could enjoy the view.
I did Slide back in October. It was tiring for me but I made it to the top. But coming back down was hell because the new hiking boots I was wearing were a half size to small and my big toes kept sliding into tight squeeze at front of the boots, which became very painful as time went by. I ended up trading in for a different pair of boots that fit much better.
I plan on doing Cliff next year(2024) I did Redfield on October 25th 2023 alongside 3 other mountains in 6 hours of the 21 hour hike that I did that day I started from the Calamity Brook Trail
Thanks for posting this hike. Great views from the top of Mt. Marcy. I did this hike in 2018, unfortunately in the rain. Cloud cover was very dense, could't see a thing! For me hiking boots are a must, I need the stability so not to roll and ankle. Love the Adirondacks for hiking.........
Fantastic upload my friend, this trail looks so picturesque and mesmerizing. Fantastic upload 🔥🥾
Marcy looks awesome. Hope to hit it someday. Sweet hike!
Been a while since I've seen one of your videos. Nice job! Do you still hike with Andrew?
Yes, just harder for us to get out with jobs, family, and life in general. I'm cutting up another video now and he's in it.
Nice trail friend, looks a bit challenging.
I found compared to alot of other mountains/trails it was on the easier side, it's all subjective though. Thanks for watching!
I want to hike the Adirondack trails. Is this what your channel is about?
I hike the Adirondacks, White Mountains, Maine and Vermont, I've hiked less the last couple years due to Covid and having a kid but I still post when I can
@@chrisnyman9258 thanks
Glad to see you guys back in the 'dacks. Love your snarky commentary - keep the vlogs coming!
Thanks for the view im hoping to get out a few more times, just difficult with a new baby at home lol
Love your vlogs and your sarcasm! That sign at 29:40 tells me you probably zigged when you shoulda zagged coming off Little Haystack and ended up having to climb up and over the Shorey Shortcut to get back to Slant Rock... no fun!
I'd wondered about this trail. Had to orphaned Porter when I did Cascade (was my first hp and had no idea what I was in for or anything about the 46 at the time). Been thinking about trying this route for Porter when I go back for it. Thanks for filming and sharing, very helpful for planning!
Definitely a nice alternative to the typical route to Porter which I actually find a little boring, glad to assist your planning!
Hi Chris, nice video, I watch these before the climb, yours is one of the most detailed and I appreciated it very much, but I to still hit the deck on the stupid slide even when you said it was oil slicked! No bridge across opalescent river, went out in November 2019, I guess there’s no plans to replace it. I don’t think I will be doing Allen again, trail all along lake sally was non stop mud.
I enjoyed the challenge of Allen, but its probably a one off for me lol
great realistic video. i have always hiked in sneakers... cascade etc... but never marcy. should i get hiking boots?
If you plan on doing alot of hiking anywhere then boots are a good investment, sneakers just simply do not hold up well to the terrain and conditions commonly found in the mountains, ive worn the same boots for 4 years and they are still in good shape
Awesome video! Can't imagine doing this in the rain. Some friends and I backed up here in July 2020 to camp overnight. We set up base on the peak, but there was a windstorm so we had to move down to some pines right below the peak. Still walked up to the peak once we moved camp and boy was it windy!
Nice video Chris, I really like your summary at the end, nice job, I’m doing this Range next year, your video helps a lot.
Thats for watching, glad my video helped someone!
Never hiked up Ampersand either! Glad you got out
Nice!
"Gonna lose a quart of blood outta my effing elbow now..." Subscribe.🤣
Cool video Chris. I enjoyed your video. It looks like a solid hike! Have you visited Colorado? I film mountaineering/hiking videos out here. Keep at it!
Hold up inside in NY glad to see any hiking videos.nice to see you two guys out and about miss all your old 46er adventures. Stay Safe
This was from last fall, realized i never trimmed the video but now that we all have the extra time here it is...lol
I need to get these for winter now
Great video (minus injury)! Your complaining of Allen reminded me of how I bitched when hiking Blake Peak haha. If it helps, when I summited Allen I ended up having to take an explosive dump near the look out.
Add to 958 Mark did you say yard sale.Is a straight up all the way or do you get little breaks it looks like it straight on up too much for me
Short steep hike for sure, yeah i said yard sale....kind of just an expression
This is definitely a hike for the overage out of shape fat guy like me
What’s the easiest of the 46 I’m going to do a bunch more small ones and then take a shot at one of the 46 next year hopefully
Hey thanks for the comment, in my opinion Cascade/Porter, Phelps, and Giant are probably your easiest, get there early to beat the crowds though!
Try jay mountain guys. Not a high peak but still my favorite hike this season by far. Wish I did that again today instead of Marcy. The foliage around the lower peaks must be crazy. High peaks is all alpine
You sound exactly like I do when I see those wet rock faces. Glad I am not the only one
Always wanted to hike panther mt! I know its not that big but offers some of the best views in the ADK's! It doesn't always have to be a high peak in my eyes to appreciate some of the the ADK splender! Thanks for sharing!
enjoyed watching, thanks for sharing
I prefer the Eastern and Western High Peaks. Also, the northern Adirondacks, and Vanderwhacker mtn.
No parking at the Gaaden.(typo intended) Maybe at the Ausable Club!
We took the same route back in summer '76.
Slant Rock... Haystack's toughest Bouldering problem.
I remember this hike taking me half the time to get back to Pinkham notch as it did to get to the summit A lot of puds lol
Cool footage, looks like it was a hell of day weather-wise! Mansfield and Camels Hump are the best in Vermont if you ask me, Im looking forward to rehiking them this winter possibly.
Thanks I enjoyed your hike 👏🏻 Mansfield is on my to-do list , friend did hell brook trail and said it was pure hell . Been following you guys since you were knocking down the 46 ers
Why can't anyone pronounce "Cairn" properly?
After 45 peaks... Dude... it's not "KARN." lol
Sorry if this bothers you so much...:'(
Furious! jk. Good videos despite the mispronunciation! :D
I'm not a big fan of the hats on the 46r website, but I like the way yours looks a lot. Did you just sew a patch on a plain hat?
I wasn't a huge fan either, but yes that's exactly what I did, also embroidered my climbing number on the back. Got 2 custom hats made and it only cost me $35 for the blank hat, patches, and embroidery.
...at this very moment someone is climbing Allen Mountain right now. Noice.
Boy Scout Troop 123 summer camp, 1965
That’s a tough, steep portion at the end. A real ass burnah. But the view from N. Hancock is well worth it.
One of my favorites. Great views. Of course it’s quite as good as Garfield, but definitely worth the climb
Cool video bro.
Agreed - what a great peak to finish on! My wife and son likewise finished the 46 on Haystack this past August, 2017.
Congrats to your wife and son! It was a great feeling (even though I was exhausted)
Congrats on your 46R finish.
You should really speak nice of the mountain, after all, it was named for REV. Allen! ;)
Try it in the winter, all the mud is frozen!
