Creed McTaggart Signature Fin
"For the last 18 months, I have been testing subtle variations in fin templates in Indo, South Africa, and waves all over Oz. My end goal was to make a fin as drivey and as reliable as possible that work in all of my boards from the 6'0s right through to the longer 7'0s. The templates are slightly oversized, so the medium size sits in between a medium and a large, and the large is slightly larger than a standard large. They are solid glass and the fuller template provides crazy hold. These fins are stiff as fuck and will not let you down no matter how hard you push them." - Creed

We sent Grigs out to chat signature fins with Joel Fitzgerald and he also managed to capture Joel putting the fins through their paces! The keel twin from Joel and Kye has a unique s-shaped template, providing drive from the base of the wave and loose snaps out of the lip. Suits short to mid length fish-style surfboards and can be surfed at warp speed from 2 to 8 feet.

About the wax, it does help! My fins had a maximum speed because of their higher volume and aggressive foils, but then I tried waxing their surface just to see if it'd replace the need to sand them - that max speed went away and they even gained more agility. One of the older surfers in Santa Cruz saw this and told me Pancho Sullivan would wax his fins. He saw Pancho doing this one day, asked him "What the f**k are you doing?" Pancho said it helped make more spray. Great surfing. Your fins definitely work!

I don't doubt the skill but he looks like a circus clown intentionally trying to look unbalanced. I prefer Devon Howard style to watch.
Well surfing should be all about individuality and expression and you shouldn't surf solely to look good on camera. He surfs similar to Miki Dora, Phil Edwards, Bob Mctavish, Lance Carson, etc if it was then Robin would surf right beside them. You just have to be more open minded to appreciate his surfing. But to each their own at the end of the day.
Also Devon often surfs boards focuses more on noseriding whilst Gatos aren another aspect of what longboarding can be. Quick turns n trim. Just my 0.02c

They were called egg shapes, we used to surf Donald Takayama,s , great for slow waves but put em up when it gets big!

We used to make boards like this in the mid-seventies. We probably had a bit less tail kick, and maybe a bit more nose kick. But the outline is similar. I used to make my own fins from the rail-cuttings (glass on fins - no boxes) - and I had one just like this - so the tip would flex and stay in the water on the cutbacks. The bottom had some roll - into the vee in the tail. The board was perfect for Velzy-land - you could maneuver inside the barrel when you had to. Single fins can be stalled, and drifted sometimes, while not so much with tri-fins.
The outline reminds me the Christenson Ultra Tracker. It rides the same.

@@seanb9362 why not ? I grew up from longboard, single fins, i was a year late trying a thruster sticking with twins and single fins , yes would be interesting comparison glide, pivot point, carve
@@seanb9362 a shaper would make them different to suit the number of fins. So to ask for the same board but different fin numbers... Well the board would suit the single or thruster best but not both
