    5:59 : That is by the way international stuff. Knoppers is a well loved brand in Germany. A bit before, there were also "Werther's Original", which is a German brand of caramel hard candy.

    Once you have learned to put a coin into the shopping carts of Aldi you are ready for going shopping in every other supermarket in Europe. This is not an Aldi specialty, it's common in the whole Europe.

    5:50 one of concepts of ALDI is that they buy „big name products“ in masses, so they buy it cheaper from the producers and then set low prices. Because the producer don‘t want to be accociated with „cheap“ products (lower revenue), they rename their products. Technically the „no name product“ you can buy at ALDI is the same product as the „big name product“ - just with another name and cheaper. You can see that if you take a look at the barcodes. 🤙🏼

    Why are you acting like you just landed on this planet? Even if you've never been to an ALDI'S, have you never heard anything about it, such as the 25 cent carts that is returned to you? I'd swear you must be smoking something really good or you think we're really stupid.

    I would miss the Middle Aisle products that we have here in Europe, it's my favourite part of both Lidl and Aldi, wonder why they don't have it in USA?

  • @simonmcglary
    @simonmcglary Місяць тому

    Unless it’s a special, generally everything is own brand. Interestingly, here in the UK, in blind taste and quality tests ALDI and their closest competitor , LIDL, often come out at or near the top. There is also the classic joke! I went in to ALDI for milk and came out with a MIG welder and a pressure washer!

  • @summerssummers1986
    @summerssummers1986 Місяць тому

    The European products are probably more healthy for you than the US brands, because they aren't allowed to put all of the additives into their food that the US are. If you read the ingredients you will see from the lists.

    Aldi's company philosophy is buy in great bulk a small selection of good to high quality products. Stack them in small, no frills stores, train your employees to do virtually any job in the store. The employees thus can be used to restock shelves in low customer capacity times, and they have one cashier line open. When a cashier notices that the line is getting too long, the next jumper employee gets called in from somewhere in the store. As it is so small they are usually quick to arrive and open another cashier line, speeding up the process. Once the long lines have been shortened again, the jumper employee may return to their previous job. This allows Aldi to employ fewer employees but pay them acceptable to good wages. The quarter in the cart incentivizes customers to return their cart to the storage space. Which saves another employee from being required to collect all the carts from all over the parking lot. Again, savings for Aldi. What makes Aldi different is that while they do make profit, their profit margin is razor thin. They actually try to reduce their prices in any way possible while still retaining the quality. Low price plus good quality is the major distinguishing feature. For that the stores are small, bare-bones, no frills, which reduces required shelving, AC, and all utilities costs as well. Yes, I know Americans love the service of baggers, and I even kinda understand it. However, that's another required employee for a little bit more convenience. And have you ever had a bagger place cans atop the fragile eggs, or glass jars on top of a fluffy sponge cake? Yeah? Well, guess what? The baggers don't know what's still on the conveyor belt so they have to start bagging once the first items arrive at their station. You as the customer however have a pretty good overview what you bought, and what should be put where in the bags. Yeah, it's less convenient, no doubt, but it will save you some squished or broken groceries over the course of a year, ie reduce your cost as well.

    In the US, Aldi uses predator pricing to drive their competitors out of the market. This is illegal by law in germany and that's one of the many reasons why Walmart failed hard here. And now they are doing it in the US.... speaking for myself i don't like that

    ALDI North bought Trader Joe´s due to US trademark laws, name and logo are too similar so US customers could confuse them as the same company which is forbidden by US trademark laws and since ALDI South entered the market first with the ALDI name and logo ALDI North bought out Trader Joe´s, because it´s way easier and cheaper than creating a completly new brand nobody on earth knows yet. BTW: the splitted ALDI´s are partially joined again, at least over here in Europe parts of the product line as well as logistics were put toghter again to safe more costs. Interesting fact: you know why ALDI´s prices are so low? The big brands can´t max out their freaking expensive factories selling just their own brand so they sell of the free space to companies like ALDI with minor changes to the og recepy and in case of ALDI in the US, you propably are getting a better quality product because ALDI wants less unnesseccary crap (which here in Europe isn´t in there anyways) to make it cheaper to produce. Who would figure: less garbage= less ingrediance = cheaper to make, what a revilation 😂

    Aldi and Trader Joe’s are not part of the same company, but they do share a historical connection. Both grocery chains were founded by members of the Albrecht family in Germany. The Albrecht brothers, Karl and Theo, split their business into two separate entities: Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd….so it’s actually one of the Aldi’s that bought Trader Joe’s not the other way round. Aldi Nord: This branch owns Trader Joe’s, which it acquired in 1979 Aldi Süd: This branch operates the Aldi stores in the United States and many other countries Despite this connection, Aldi and Trader Joe’s operate independently and have different business models and product offerings.
