Everyone and their mother knows these characters existed long before Overwatch was even a concept, but their Rivals intros didn’t. That’s the comparison here; the intros, not the characters themselves. It’s obvious Rivals took heavy inspiration from OW (gameplay-wise), which is normal in competition. What I don’t understand is the pathological need to pretend Rivals is 1,000% original and totally didn’t copy a few aspects from OW. That doesn’t make Rivals a bad or inferior game. Why do MR players get so defensive so easily? Hell, OW took quite a bit of inspiration from TF2 (literally Torb), yet you don’t see OW players seething when it’s pointed out, so what gives? Nobody is disputing whether or not MR is a fun game. The comparisons aren’t personal attacks; you don’t have to be obtuse to ‘defend’ your precious game.
