I RECREATED Bulgaria's HISTORICAL Uprising in Crusader Kings 3!
Although the mighty First Bulgarian Empire was eventually conquered by the Byzantines, the freedom-loving Bulgarians could not be kept at bay forever. In this Crusader Kings 3 playthrough, I will reenact the historical Uprising of Asen and Petar that led to the foundation of the Second Bulgarian Empire!

The Ottoman Empire had one of the world's most formidable armies when it took over Constantinople in 1453, but its 14th century beginnings were rather humble. immersive gameplay, good work! I very enjoyed this different aspect of role play victoria 3 gameplay it was so unique to watch compared to other vic3 videos
Are the ottomans in ck3 1178?
Really well made video! I rarely find ck3 playthroughs enjoyable but the historical background and fast pace makes this a lot of fun!
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it!
Todor is severely underpowered and he never establishes an independent state in my games. He should have at least twice the amount of soldiers IMO. I tried several times to do what you did and only succeeded using a bit of cheese. I also find the fourth crusade nearly always fails against the byzantines.
Yeah it’s quite difficult to pull off, I did a few attempts when roads to power first came out and failed miserably! You definitely need a strong ally (at least 15k) and to avoid attacking the byzantine army head on, especially in flat terrain. I could only win battles if defending in mountains or massively outnumbering them (like 3 to 1).
Finally a HISTORY based strategy game player that actually respects the historical part, subscribed.
Ah yes the Bulgarians, the Turkic tribe that insists its Slavic
Analysing any modern nationality’s origins is always a complicated picture, especially on the Balkans.
@ yes but luckily we have extremely well documented sources of all these people thanks to the Byzantines so in this case it’s pretty straightforward
Luckily we also have DNA testing that shows now days local origins that can be dated back to thousands of years before Christ and we can make fun of dummies that cannot google or read factual literature. There is extremely low close to 0 Turkic DNA or North East Slavic for that matter in modern bulgarians DNA. DNA testing actually shows gradient migration from the Balkans to all corners of Europe. So DNA actually debunks modern migration historians and shows migration from the Balkans to all corners of Europe. DNA shows that all Europeans are actually antient Balkans not the other way around... There has been no record written or historic to back the Turkic origin of locals in Bulgaria but hey... you are free to believe what ever you want even flat earth. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_studies_on_Bulgarians
@ that doesn’t change the fact that the Bulgarian people started off as Turkic lmao, just because they’ve been constantly marrying into other Slavic peoples and getting rid of their Turkic DNA over time doesn’t mean that their Turkic side never existed, to say that would be lying and hard cope lol. And no all Europeans don’t date back to Balkans they date back to the Yamnaya who were on the Blck sea steppe not the Balkans. But like you said you can believe whatever you like, even unicorns. And there’s plenty of evidence that tells us the Bulgarians were Turkic, like I said to ignore that would be lying to yourself. Ik that Bulgarians and people from the Balkans in general hate having to face the fact that their people tend to be a mix of several ethnic groupes but that’s just simply the case.
@@billychops1280why it’s even a problem tho? Check russian people, how people even consider them slaves if it’s a huge mix of Finnish tribes with Turk tatars, but they consider themselves as Slavic because of the belief that they came from Kyivan Rus. Bulgarians are more Slavic culturally and genetically. But either way Bulgarian culture was created that long time ago that there’s almost no any reminders of Turk background
Just found your channel and already one of my favorite UA-camrs. Hope you make more vids with mb+
Thank you and welcome aboard! I will do for sure - ck3 is really blessed when it comes to mods, just waiting on the creators to update to the latest version.
These are all really cool starts, and I love the history, but they are far from great play tall starts :P
How so? All 3 of them start off in high income counties, with decent potential to build on this. I agree there are certainly others worth considering too though.
@@TrueHistoryGamer You want a county with many holdings, like 4 or 5 at least. For a GREAT play tall start that is. Fewer counties = higher average development = faster innovations and more gold.
Ertugrul father was Gündüz Alp there was three coins found minted by osman which read "Osman bin Ertuğrul bin Gündüz Alp
I agree the evidence points to Gunduz Alp, but I think the Suleyman Shah option has been more traditionally ingrained. The family tree I showed in the video actually represents the view of ottoman historian Nesri from 1493 - it’s the one Paradox went with.
It’s dope how you throw in some history in there.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That’s amazing
Waoww
Useful Info! Im adding this video as reference for our project!
It sounds like it's voiced by AI
Nope, no AI involved in the making of this video
I would like to see a real independant romania, idk if that's possible though
I was trying to add content for Abd Allah al-Radi/Husayn(Father of first Fatimid Caliph) so he or his dynasty could establish Fatimid Caliphate but because of one graphical bug and time spent to make work around I lost motivation to do more than making him actually playable with pre generated stats.
forming the assassin brotherhood in ck3 finna be crazy
thank you mr. truehistorygamer
7:30 - It's not like Hasan always spawns 16 y.o. and with 5-star education? Probably, you had to restart multiple times to get such stats?
I haven’t tested it it to be honest, but I would definitely expect his learning skill to always be pretty high
Todor is the modern Bulgarian version of Teddy.
I agree they are related names, with Todor being a more modern version, but worth pointing out Teodor is still in use today as well.
Sorry everyone, I should have added a small clarification for the first start at 00:20 - this character did not become landed historically, rather it was his descendants (they got a lot of land indeed!)
Great vid! Argentina was greater when had industries and was close ties with UK. Now neoliberalism is killing hermanos, first with Macri and now with Milei. Latin America can''t take the liberalism bullshit anymore.
Technically the current head of Germiyanids here! Really enjoyed the video 👑😁
Wow that’s amazing, am honoured you liked it!

HEAR ME OUT. (.Historical Liberia.) AND IN HISTORY LIBERIA [.Havent Have Best Goals In Future.] OR MADE IT . BETTER.??
Really liked the video format as a university history student myself. Maybe do a Brazil version? I did try it myself but it is pretty challenging to emulate the real brazilian economical path and succeed in the game
I would love to try a Brazil playthrough, but yeah, simulating the historic development of pretty much any agriculture based economy is quite hard, as the game incentivises industrialisation.
Play with (North) Peru (i.e. go for Peru independence) BTW, get full Loreto ("Pastaza", divided between Peru and Ecuador) to unlock the rubber journal entry. Extra points if manage to have South German as largest culture in "Pastaza" (look for peruvian gov. attempts to attract german migrants to the amazonian states. Make it happen xd).
Nice idea! Independent peru would be historical and it rarely seems to happen in my playthroughs if left to the AI
Ok, so when I first saw the thumbnail I thoughy it was an analisys of modern-day Argentina and I was like "Oh, they used Vic3 resources symbols!" 😅
I probably should have thrown the game logo in there as well!
@@TrueHistoryGamer No worries, the title makes it clear ;) And the video is good, I like mixing gameplay with historical information.
Lore of Can I KICKSTART Argentina's HISTORICAL Economic BOOM in Victoria 3? Momentum 100
Duuude!! as an argentine, i really apreciate the effort, but as a Victoria 3 player, the experience of playing Argentina the true and historically accurate way must have been sooo frustrating!, the low population + the country sometimes not being able to keep up with the US in therms of migration attraction, really makes for a very slow-phased gameplay... I often go for the full warmongering-imperialist route XD.
The early game was especially frustrating, hence why most of what I did was on the political side of things. After 1880 and those migration events start firing it gets so much easier!
Excellent video!! Engaging balance between roleplay and historical flavor! I think your party legitimacy issues come from Interest Groups not being in the party they want to be when elections start, so the votes they receive aren't calculated UNTIL they join the party.
Thank you, glad you liked it! Yeah the legitimacy issue really confused me, luckily didn’t affect the playthrough direction too much!
you can play with Peru-Bolivia, please
I have already subscribed and activated the notification bell.
You play very different then me I just spam industry's and do civil wars and get to great power and get laise fair
Yeah I try to play in a more historically accurate way, as opposed to following the meta game strategy. Building up industry is always a good idea in the game, but historically Argentina didn’t focus on this for most of the Vic 3 time period.
Nice video however, you keep not including parties due to a fear of low legitimacy this calculation is flawed however, as the majority of that legitimacy decline is caused by government size issues which aren't actually real once they join that party. in addition, you'll win significantly more of the vote, further boosting your legitimacy, and allowing you to have greater diversity in your policy expansion. Like passing better economic policy, or professional army, which would let you expand your army in Buenos Aires instead of your low population states.
Thanks for that, I didn’t realise the legitimacy penalty would go away once they join!
nice vídeo!!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video!!
Nice video, is historical accurated, i can view how you study, greetings for Argentina, AGUANTE MILEI
Thanks for the tips, im new to the game but ive played alot of games that require hunting so this should be an easy start for me. You've just earned a subscriber. Keep up the good work 👍
Fantastically presented video! As an archaeologist in England it's interesting to compare. Linear villages are very common here, as is something similar to the Angerdorf but more rectangular, with a large central communal green. Rundlings are almost non-existant here though, and many of the old organically grown Saxon villages were destroyed by the Normans and replaced with planned linear villages.
Thank you! I did actually try to research English village layouts for a potential follow up video but couldn’t find too many decent sources online.
Small correction, the wisent (probably the bear too, but I haven't paid too much attention to that in my game) drop 70 meat, not 80. You can even see that in your video when you skin the wisent. It was probably changed pretty recently, since the wiki still has wrong information. As far as I can tell it hasn't been updated since before the coop release.
Yeah that’s a mistake, sorry about that. When I wrote up all the stats information prior to recording, I relied far too much on the wiki. I think I caught a few discrepancies whilst recording, but clearly missed the wisent one.
As someone who has tried many tall playthourhgt including the small kingdom of Sardinia (which is hard to get, you will be duke for quite a while because corsica belongs to the HRE (if you start in 866) its a nice challenge and then you can unify the meditterean. But Bohemia start in 1066 is really nice and easy and you can pretty much get ahead so fast and build your kingdom and focus on getting so much gold, it's the best one to start (not a big challenging one, but as someone who doesnt want to paint the map and go to war constantly and learn how to manage your domain, vassals and how to trick your succession line it's quite good, you do get into that mid game where the each heir become so old that you constantly change ruler until you get to a point where the heir become manageable (marry off the offspring you dont want to another kingdom in a matrilineal marriage) and their kids can never become heir because they are no longer part of your household. XD
But you could start in Corsica, to form Sardinia, couldn‘t you?
This is great. Really cool to see you pull some proper historical references.
i like this game, but it needs updates and work done to it asap
There is an update that is meant to come out very soon, will add fishing ponds, crossbows and other stuff as well
Deserves way more views
Nice! Your videos are so much fun! Keep up the great job! ⚜️
This is great! ❤
Yes
I think building the fort is super cheesy. Also a good tip, bigger animals don't give much more hunting XP than birds, so for leveling up hunting you can just go around killing and skinning pigeons / crows near Piastovia. Can even use throwing rocks for super cheap.
Moose are the best for farming meat and leather. Roast the meat and turn the leather into bags. They are also found pretty much all over the map. I haven't had a bad time with wisent either.
this is very nicely done can you do a recreation of the Mongol Empire or the Rashidun Caliphate if that's possible?
Yes I was thinking of Mongol Empire too! The Caliphate will be a really good option once the Fallen Eagle mod release the Rise of Islam start date.
