Nice Work If You Can Get It & Beginning To See The Light
That was stunning, where could I find this chart? Gorgeous vocal and sax feature! Nice job!!
:-) Nice.
Nice work on a tricky arreangement!🎤🎷🎸🎺🥁
excellent performance
Is this full chart for big band available commercially or did someone transcribe it off the record?
A valiant attempt.
What a fun arrangement! I heard a tiny bit of this at the end of Carson set and then here is the entire song. Great job. I've got to get our big band to play this.
Taking that arrangement to a stage band contest when I was in h.s. resulted in: 1.) I won outstanding drummer for class AA, 2.) I got Outstanding overall Jazz musician, any instrument, regardless of school size, 3.) our band got first place in class AA, and 4.) I got offered a scholarship from the jazz band director at the small university that hosted the contest, unfortunately, I couldn’t read music. I literally memorized everything. I will never, ever, forget this arr. of this tune, and it made Sammy Nestico my unrivaled favorite arranger for the rest of my life… I was 16 at the time, I’m 63 now. I’ve been looking for a good recording of this chart, played at this tempo for probably 10 years now. So glad you posted it.
Brilliant John!!! Loved it.
Ah yes, this harkens to a day when Dave Stahl and I both had hair! This has always been one of my favorite Big Band charts! Woody Herman's Thundering Herd always smoked this chart and with Stahl playing lead trumpet you could always count on those double high A's! Stahl always took it above the section as it built! You have a fine lead trumpet as he plays it like Stahl. Great job! Most trumpet players don't go the 8VA route! For me, I always took it up, because it got the crowd going! Man where did the 47 years go! Very nice playing guys!
Kick ass soprano sax solo!
