Let's Hike to Saskatchewan Glacier (almost)
Hiking to the Saskatchewan Glacier (sort of). This trail shares a start point for the Big Bend scrambling route. You can see Big Bend Peak on the left at the beginning of the video.
I follow the "official" trail for this journey, which is actually not what most people do because it doesn't make it all the way to the glacier. Following it, I kind of got the feeling someone drove a bulldozer through the valley 15 years ago and said "That should do it".
This is the valley that you look over from Parker Ridge, and it's quite a nice walk (if not a bit blustery in the open rocky area). With multiple large waterfalls and a general openness with very few visitors, it's super peaceful with great views!
The way to get close to the glacier is to cross the river (which becomes the North Saskatchewan River) as soon as you hit the rocky flats. I'll have to head back and do that portion so we can get right up to the ice a little later!
See this valley from above: ua-cam.com/video/qenmbNn93pA/v-deo.html
0:00 - Trail Start
14:50 - Forest Ascent
39:00 - Reaching the Flats
46:30 - The Wrong Detour
52:40 - Rejoining the Trail
1:03:30 - Out of the Trees, On to the Rocks
1:27:00 - Going Past the Trail End
1:48:00 - Stopped by a Lake

Let's Hike Roche Miette Canyon
Переглядів 110День тому
Roche Miette Canyon is a quick little trail just off the side of the highway. It goes directly between two sheer rock walls and up a rocky canyon that 'sort of' has an established trail. The narrow canyon itself can be a little difficult with the ground sloping steeply, and the rocks are worn smooth by footsteps, which can make a slip into the small pools easier than it seems. You can keep goin...
Let's Hike to Geraldine Lakes - The Second Lake
Переглядів 23014 днів тому
Hiking the Geraldine Lakes trail, up to the second lake. This starts as a deceptively easy trail, and just gets more and more difficult as you head up to the second lake. Depending on the time of year, you may find yourself getting wet feet even at the first lake as the water levels are high enough to swallow up the trail. After getting to the end of the first lake, the boulder hopping starts. ...
Let's Hike to Kimbol Lake
Переглядів 28221 день тому
Following the Kimbol Lake trail from the Nakusp Hot Springs source. The trailhead is at the commercial Nakusp Hot Springs parking lot, and passes through a really nice covered bridge with quick access to roaring waterfalls not far in. Continuing above those, you can reach the hot spring source (which was covered in poison ivy). The unassuming trail seems deceptively simple at the bottom, but it...

Let's Hike to Mystic Beach via China Beach
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Місяць тому
The Mystic Beach trail is the first (or last) leg of the Juan de Fuca backpacking trail, but it also connects to a few other places. I started this from the China Beach campground near the south end of Vancouver Island in the very early summer. This trail goes through old forests that seem to absolutely glow with green lushness, walks along multiple beaches, and even has hidden waterfalls if yo...
Let's Hike Botanical Beach (and Botany Bay)
Переглядів 135Місяць тому
Hiking the Botanical Loop, Botany Bay, and Botanical Beach! This trail is a pretty short loop in Juan de Fuca Provincial Park, and also serves as a trailhead for the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail for backpacking! Even though the official loop is short, when it puts you out on the beach you can easily spend hours walking on the rocks and checking out the tide pools and rock formations. Even the fore...
Let's Hike to Bridal Veil Falls
Переглядів 248Місяць тому
Bridal Veil Falls in British Columbia is just a quick stop outside the Vancouver area. The trail is pretty short, but absolutely beautiful, with a quick walk through the lush forest to a huge waterfall. The wide angle here makes it look a little far away, but at the viewing area you do feel quite a bit closer. It's an overall relaxing little stop, with plenty of picnic tables to hang out at by ...
Let's Hike Silver Creek Cliffs
Переглядів 492 місяці тому
Silver Creek Cliffs is a neat little offshoot trail from the WigWam Flats trail, which seems to be geared more towards ATV use. The trail splits off after going past the Elko dam, and a busy lumber yard. Climbing up to the cliffs gives a great view of Silver Spring Lakes. It gets a little gusty with the winds, so I had to stay a bit back from the ledge. 0:00 - Trail Start 29:35 - Ascent Start 4...
Let's Hike Bertha Lake
Переглядів 3732 місяці тому
I decided to do a trip up to Bertha Lake. This trip was somewhat impromptu due to a lot of Waterton National Park being closed due to grizzly and cougar attacks. You can hear the helicopters doing searches as I start up towards the lower falls. The first section is a retread up to Lower Bertha Falls, but it's such a nice trail I still included it here. Rising up the mountain, we get to see a lo...
Let's Hike Tonquin Valley - Portal Creek
Переглядів 522 місяці тому
This is the final trail leg of the Tonquin Valley backpacking trail, from Portal camp to Portal Trailhead. The trail rises a small amount at the beginning to overlook the valley, and as you descend you end up following Portal Creek for the last half. Despite it being quite overcast, the hike was very pleasant! Up at the highest point, the sun came through just enough to light up the valley belo...
Let's Hike Tonquin Valley - Maccarib to Portal
Переглядів 952 місяці тому
This section of the Tonquin Valley hike follows the Maccarib Creek up to Maccarib Pass, and then meets up with Portal Creek on the way down the other side. It was a somewhat overcast day, but the smoke from the previous day was slowly blowing out of the valley and gave some better views this time! The trail up the pass is not that hard, but going down towards Portal Creek made me happy I chose ...
Let's Hike Tonquin Valley - Switchback to Maccarib (A Smoky Walk)
Переглядів 1413 місяці тому
Continuing the hike through the Tonquin Valley, going from Switchback camp to Maccarib camp! Unfortunately, thick smoke rolled in over night and covered a lot of the great views, but it was still an interesting day. The camera picked up way more detail than I could see in person too! This part is generally supposed to be the spectacular section. As you pass by Amethyst Lake, you are greeted by ...
Let's Hike Tonquin Valley - Astoria to Switchback
Переглядів 1414 місяці тому
Hiking the first section of the Tonquin Valley train in Jasper National Park! This section starts at the Astoria trailhead, near Mount Edith Cavell. Starting here takes care of the majority of the elevation gain by the drive up, as the end of the entire trail comes out at the bottom of the valley. Overall it's a moderately easy hike, though there was quite a bit of smoke threatening to roll in ...

Excellent!

Why dont you just fly from the top😂😂😂😂
I can't tell you are talking about??
The phrase dumb as a rock comes to mind.
Sad when ignorance and stupidity get you killed.
Well, bet you will stay on trail next time... 😉.. 1 rule, DON'T DIE. Just adhere to this rule and you're going to be fine.. also, don't go off route in unknown terrain. Now you know, knowing is half the battle n stuff.
Done this before and learned my lesson but came out of it in one piece on Assgard Pass in The Enchantments of Washington State.
STUPID
Was you scared little or lottle?
Where?
Where is this?
It's called Pathetic Ridge.
@@samwilson1507 What state or province, and where in that?
This is near the Henry Macleod trail in Alberta. The trailhead is accessible after canoeing/kayaking to the end of Maligne Lake.
@@HikerVibes Thanks
well, THAT was a really bad idea. did you have anyone with you? don't do that again...
No one around, serene location... Decides to create drama.
try that while holding a rattlesnake you jsut caught
Stupid??
Oh my. If you’re going to have to slide down over a loose gravel on your bottom, lederhosen are the answer. There just isn’t a good answer for hidden cliffs, though, except maybe lots of training, and Gear, or sticking to the trail. Thank God, you’re OK (or we wouldn’t be seeing this video).
Well that WAS fast!
When you get out there, you can easily get into life or death situations. This ain't a walk in the park. That's where real beauty and danger are.
Really like 200 yards over were no rocks, trees to hold. Please don't say your a pro at climbing mountains
This video inspired me to get up from my desk and hike to the fridge.
que increible vista!
That looked like a beautiful hike! What were the temperature differences between the starting point and peak elevation? How was the camp up at the top? Very exposed?
There wasn't much of a temperature difference that I felt between the bottom and the top, but I was pretty warm from the climb. Even in the valley at the camp it was very warm until the sun went behind the mountain ridge. Once that sun was gone, the temperature dropped rapidly and the night was cold. There aren't any official campgrounds at the top of the trail. Down in Little Yoho Valley, it's decently treed and kind of tucked away between the mountain ranges. Unlike some other back country campgrounds, the sites here were very private. It was quite nice!
@@HikerVibes awesome! Thanks for the reply. :-)
Really good my favourite one so far.
Excellent video! Thank you for all your hard work. Stunning views!
Thank you for video, enjoyed seeing this hike
Not having this vertical stuff.
Of all the places they put the snow directly on the hiking trail. So rude.
Thank you love full hikes with no music just natural sounds, so perfect, hope there is more to come.
Amazing scenery. I love the long format 4K video. 👣😎👍☮
Awesome video! I really enjoyed it!
Wow, I didn't know that was there
