Trailer brake controller install - 2021 GMC Yukon (late ‘21 build factory wiring issues)
This video shows how to access the factory wiring for adding an aftermarket trailer brake controller on the 2021 GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe.
Apparent supply chain issues resulted in a factory female harness not being included on late-build vehicles in mid 2021. This video describes where to find this wiring, which is very hidden and difficult to locate.

Great help. I was able to pull it out the front to wire it in.
We would all benefit if you showed what color wires matched to the spectrum wires. Doing mine and what a headache.
Given the production variability, I wouldn't be surprised if wire colors on the truck side change between model years or even within the same model year, given supply chain inconsistencies. So you'll need to refer to the wiring tag found on the vehicle loom and match it up to what the Curt manual says. They are not color matched.

Dude what a shit show this wiring is. I’m searching for a connector and the same. 2022 Yukon and have black duct tape covering my wires on the vehicle side. Not gmc quality I was expecting for sure. :/
I hooked up and no power going to controller. Is there a fuse or relay that you need?
Check fuse #63 under the hood (p. 333 in the manual bit.ly/3BCgLJa). If that's OK test the wires for power. May have to have key-on or power-on for them to be live.
I found the same set of four wires, however they are dead wires and is there a place you found that it should hook up to the battery or fuse?
Sorry, don't have an answer for that problem - they should be live - may want to check fuses. Otherwise I'd take it to the dealer if you can't get power.
John, can you tell me which wires off the 8806 harness match up with the Curt Spectrum controller? What a mess! Thanks for your video. Bobby D
Sorry, what's the 8806 harness? I just matched up the wires as described on the wiring pigtail to the corresponding functions on the Curt controller pigtail - note that the colors will NOT necessarily match each other.
