Hello, You bring up the Greek words petra/petros argument and I believe it’s important to note to the viewers that Jesus spoke Aramaic, and the word in the Aramaic is Kepha for Peter and Rock. There is no distinction in Aramaic in this verse, like you are suggesting. There is no distinction in this verse that says this word means a small stone and this word means boulder or bedrock foundation. Simply Jesus would have said, you are Kepha and upon this Kepha I will build my church. An interesting note is to look at Matthew 16 in the French. It came from the same Greek translation but a different language and it only has one word for both-Pierre. It reads, you are Pierre and upon this Pierre I will build my church. Also, many non-Catholic Biblical scholars admit that Peter is indeed the rock.

I’ve been a believer for four decades and when I started out going to church I never imagined that IFB churches would be in the dysfunctional mess that they are in today. “Christendom”as a whole is on the decline but I’m speaking of local churches that have a heritage of loving people and preaching Jesus Christ and him crucified. Today, particularly in the south there’s a IFB church on every corner with a handful of baby boomers and gray heads sitting in a building that used to hold hundreds or thousands. The only testimony that they have in the community is fussing,fighting, splitting and preachers gone bad. It can’t all be blamed on this being the Last Days and the Great Falling Away from faith in Christ. If God doesn’t send a real move in our midst instead of the smoke we’ve been in for the last few decades many more of these local congregations are going to close their doors for good. Many already have. We are a testament to what happens to a movement when God turns his favor from us. I’m afraid that it’s going to take real persecution here in the United States against Bible believing congregations before we see churches get God’s favor on them again. I hope not.

One of the problems people are not coming to the Lord is because we have left off praying and become too insistent on our working for the Lord instead of His working through us. “ All our righteousness is as filthy rags”. All too often, we make our plans and ask God to bless what we have decided to do instead of just placing our moments in His hand to do as He wills. As an Independent Baptist by denomination but Christian by Faith I am persuaded that too much emphasis is placed on our good works and not “His Cross”. When I realized just what His death on the cross means to me, my works were placed on the back burner and all I can see is His suffering for me. The one thing He is asking is for me to “give up my right to myself”; the Holy Spirit does the work and my “members” respond. There is no difference in the sacred and secular with Jesus. He sacredly “washed the disciples feet”. He was so insulated on the INSIDE that the world on the OUTSIDE had no affect on Him. Do I eat and drink sacredly? God is after my HOLINESS, not by HAPPINESS. Our mission work is at our fingertips, possibly next door, but we often ignore the need because religion gets in the way and we forget who our relationship is with. God orchestrates our circumstances and we are His workmanship. Elizabeth Elliott was asked after her husband was eaten by cannibals: “ what will you do now?” Her response: “The next thing”. What is the thing nearest that needs to be done. The world may not see; but God’s all-seeing eye does not miss anything.

A woman is a church (Jeremiah 6:2) and a beast is a kingdom/nation (Daniel 7:17). This is a church state power like the Catholic Church. This is one of 10+ Bible Prophecies that identify the Catholic Church as the antichrist.

In your analogy, God is playing Chess. But Chess is a little game that little people in a little planet of one of two billion galaxies invented to tease their little minds. God should be playing a perfect game, not a stupid little board game. Only one of two things can be happening: either God is not playing little games with little Satan, or God, if he exists, is not interested in playing stupid games.
