Old is far better than the stuff of today!! I love older Toyotas I drive a 2004 Toyota Corolla matrix it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. I thank the Lord for it. ❤😊 Congratulations on your beautiful new older Toyota RAV4 🎉😊
Please spray oil like Fluid Film on that undercarriage. That car will last forever if you do. Inside of door panels and hatches too. It really works
You cited kilometers so I take it you're Canadian? I'm a tad envious but I think I need a bigger vehicle. Great find, Man! PLEASE oil spray the undercarriage and interior of the sheet metal. If you do that, your car will outlive you!
New vehicle owners are the future used vehicle sellers!
The heated switch in my 1998 Jeep XJ has a switch. Nothing to go wrong there. Touch screens will be useless, and make the vehicle useless. I really doubt any aftermarket manufacturers are going to step in and make any. So you will be relying on wrecks and broken down vehicles in the future. An enterprising person will starting working on an adapter that will be able to plug into an iPad to keep vehicle communications going in the future.
Love the XJ's! Thanks for watching!
I have a 2000 rav4 and I love it.
💪💪
Sweet looking RAV 4. I love the look of the older ones and the fact that you could still get a stick shift. I miss my 2001 Tacoma same green as your RAV 4. It had 325k miles on it. Now I have a 2014 Tacoma that I don’t like nearly as much.
A downgrade? Seriously?
It’s a downgrade technically to most from a newer, nicer, lower mileage vehicle. Personally upgrade to me!
All the edits are rally distracting bro
Thanks for the input!
old is gold when it comes to Rav4
100% Thanks for watching!
Only ever bought one brand new car, it’s been 9years of trouble free driving apart from the usual stuff like annual servicing and a set of tyres. But I’d never do it again, now it’s well out of warranty I basically now have to drive it until I can’t fix it anymore. It won’t be going back to the dealer, just a local mechanic I trust. There’s no shame in driving older cars , especially if you have knowledge to maintain it yourself, or it’s cheap to fix at a mechanic.
@@jonmarshall1502 No shame! Oh yeah! I have co-workers that drive new cars including those Teslas. When we go out for lunch, they make fun of my transportation. When is the time to order lunch, they look at the left (price) and order what is on the right of it. I never look at the right because I order what I want to eat. I love it.
@ what’s the deal with left price versus the right price?
@jonmarshall1502 Thanks for sharing this perspective!
@jonmarshall1502 ups, I read the treat and is confusing. My point is that they look at the right column on the menu. The right column on the menu is the fish prices. When I go out to a restaurant, I order what I want without looking at prices. It is like owning a Mercedes Benz with 4 Chinese tires on them. I drive a 2003 4runner with 4 Michelin on them. We can buy what we want without trying to show off! No shame on that!
@ oh I see what you mean. Thanks that makes sense.
I had the 1st gen two door Rav4. Very cool car. Not the most comfortable but reliable. In my family we always had Toyota from Yaris to Corolla. Japan made cars are well built. Recently I bought as a second car the first gen of the Honda HR-V two door from 1999. I did a full inspection on the motor and painted the whole car. Revived all the interior but maintained all stock. Now it looks brand new with the 90's vibe.
Sweet! Thanks for watching
I drive a Mercedes 190E from 1993 since 2015 and it has been a fun experience. It already depreciated 95% by that point and all I've ever done is paying for maintenance to keep it roadworthy. The highest single expense was a complete exhaust system, which was corroded from the manifold back. It's great to drive old. They're robust and mostly reliable.
Great 🙌
I drove BMWs forr 22 years, until I needed a new engine in my last 5 searies at only 120,000 miles. I sold it and bought a 2001 Camry that is glitch free and only goes up in value. A good one becomes harder to find, but they are still out there 😊😊
Nice man! 😎
You made some good points there! I love old and inexpensive cars. Simplicity and repair experience gives me peace of mind.
Thank you for watching!
i drive a minty white one
That’s cool!
90's definitely pre 2010, really gone downhill since 😕
I upgraded to a 3rd Gen after our 1st 1999 and i miss it every time i see another on the road. The interior and the character of it 😍
I am by no means safety guy, but that tradeoff is why I would only consider old car either in urban areas (European cities/suburbs) or rural areas. Motorways, transit roads etc are too dangerous for me to put my family in a tin can.
so inspiring to see you rehoming an oldie but goodie and appreciating its simplicity 🧡
I'm driving a 94 Corolla I bought new. I'll keep it as long as I can get it fixed. The money I haven't spent on car payments is in my savings account.
That's the way to go!
1989 Corolla All Trac, 2005 Matrix 1.8 L, 2006 RAV4, and recently added to the fleet a 1995 Chevy Tahoe 5.7L TBI for towing.
Awesome lineup!
Man, I love how the clean the paint is on your RAV! I think I may get my paint redone once I’ve finished my mechanical overhauls. Deciding whether to DIY or pay a professional
Thanks man! Everything besides the hood on this one is decent haha. Sounds like a good plan
Sound Dampening yes! It makes almost any car better, and a little goes a long way. You only need to cover large panels at a 50-60% coverage rate. The gains for full coverage are minuscule.
This is good to know! Appreciate the info!
I have a 2004 Honda Pilot it’s simple and good in the snow and really cheap to maintain and reliable.
Great! 😄
Right now I feel like late 2000s to mid 2010s vehicles are the best. New enough to have somewhat modern technology and hold up to modern safety standards, but old enough to be affordable and have the common issues well documented.
For sure!
Long live the Rav4! (and all vehicles from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s) 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷
Thanks for watching! 💪
@@armendarizosvaldo26 Cheers!
I’ve had 18 cars the newest car is my current 2008 Crown Victoria P71..love it to death. Screw a car payment. And long live the old school
Awesome!
Be careful with those FRAM filters. They are known for dropping oil pressure.
Thanks for the warning!
This thing is sick, i can definitely see you in a Honda element
😎👌
I have a 2003 VW Jetta Wagon TDI and love it. 😊
Great car!
Yesss except for the radio I like apple carplay
I don't know about the 5 speed manual, but the gen 1 automatic was a pig. My sister-in-law owned one. I drove it once, and couldn't believe how dangerously slow it was. I'd never want to merge onto a busy highway in that thing.
I've only ever purchased used and pay cash when I can. Someone else can pay the heaviest of depreciation. Whatever your budget is, you can get something you'll love. It's like a cheat code.
Love these videos. There's something so real about them.
Thank you! 😄
Don't take the bait....don't fall for the shinny widget....Newer cars will drain you...
I bought a 98 new and an 01. Both were 5speed,and never a problem. The 01 had a recall on the catalytic converter and later on the computer, changing the same system.
Interesting!
Buying and maintaining a paid up car is simple math. A new car is 500+ a month payment plus full insurance. After you finish paying the car, that thing worth about less than half of what you paid new plus loan interest. A used car that is paid off, even if you spend 900 a year in repairs your pocket comes ahead all day. The savings are exponentially in 5 years, not to mention that I only pay the basic insurance required by my state. Is a win win until I can make a tree that grows money. Until then Viva la Rav Earl.
Well said! Thanks for the comment. Cheers
I have driven many old, cheap cars as my primary transportation. Particularly ratty little tin can mid '90's Ford Escorts. Those Ford 1.9 engines and a manual trans are unbeatably reliable and economical. I never paid more than $1100 for one, and that one I drove for 5 years and had maybe $600 in repairs, over 46,000 miles I drove it. Another was $900 and only ever got a timing belt and water pump. 3rd one was $800 that my daughter drove for 3 years, no work done. She got $200 from the junkyard when the clutch went out. I also have a secondary beater 1998 Explorer. I paid $2600 for it 5 years ago and have about $6000 in repairs (recent trans rebuild is the bulk of that), so $8700, vs $30,000 in payments ($500/month for 5 years) for something new. Great deals, all of them.
Most people drive an old car. The only people clicking on this video are regular people who are kinda into cars and want validation
Thank you all for watching and sharing your experiences! Check out my recent videos too if you’re interested in more.
I have a 06 corolla. I thought id hate it but honestly its saved me so much money and fuel. I enjoy how simple the engine and transmission are to work on and i like the retro look of 90s to early 2000s corolla.
Spot on! Thanks for watching
@@Owen_Earl of course! I wish your videos were longer I enjoy seeing the RAV4.
Hello from BC. Loving your style of review! Short, simple yet straight to the point. Looking forward to more car reviews and maintenance videos:)
Appreciate the support from BC! Beautiful place. Thanks for watching!
The biggest problem at the moment is both finding and getting to the worthwhile older car in time. People are asking silly money for a lot of them and you have to be SO QUICK in getting to the car to see it and buy it. Getting a mechanical inspection is hard to fit into the timeline before someone else grabs it from under you. I know you said it was like that for you getting your Rav and it’s been like that, with no luck yet, for me trying to find an old CRV to replace my 2004 winter use one that finally rusted out. I wanted to find another so I can keep my old one for parts. 👍🏻
That’s true, I hope you find what you need. All the best!
Do you have your car page on IG lol?
Hey, I don’t use an IG account in relation to this channel yet. But you can find me by _owenoutdoor_ -I’ve posted some of my cars and adventures there.
My newest vehicle is a 2008 Honda Fit Sport.. all the amenities.. A/C and cruise control. I grew up driving my 2000 Wrangler, 4 cyl/5 spd no A/C, soft top so basically everything is a Mercedes after that 😂
Haha you know it!
my neighbor has one that has 435k on it. original everything.
That’s impressive!
I still daily a 2003 Honda element I purchased as an ex demo in 2004. Best car I’ve ever owned. 360 000 kilometres. With careful maintenance and annual oil sprays, I have no plans to retire it anytime soon.
Wow, that’s great!
Looks good !
Have you thought of restoring the rav's paint?
Yeah, that would be nice! I've been keeping it a low cost driver focusing on mechanical maintenance
