Small Coal Furnace Melts Aluminum
This is a quick video of my small furnace melting aluminum with ease!
This is a metal plant bucket, which was lined on the inside using a mixture of sodium silicate solution + quartz sand. The coal is just regular grill bbq charcoal, lump charcoal works better but it burns faster. The crucible is a clay-graphite crucible from aliexpress i got for about 15$, and the aluminum is just scrap pieces, shavings and soda cans. There is a metal pipe connected to a hairdryer on the side that pumps COLD room temperature air into the coal, you must use a no-heat setting on your hairdryer or it will melt itself. The hairdryer was connected to the steel pipe using a top section of a coca-cola 500mL bottle. When you turn off the hairdryer, pull out the pipe out IMMEDIATELY or extremely hot air will burn your hairdryer and it could cause an electrical or simply a big fire and a mess.
