I love ARK and Ascended looks gorgeous, almost realistic as if you are there in the flesh, but sadly my PC is a bit too obsolete to withstand this game, so i must be content with its old Evolved version. Also, did you know, that spawn zones marked as green/safe are a hoax, I almost always died there 20-30 sec after spawning by random Raptor, Carno or Dilo groups, but on the other hand in the most south western orange/medium zone and North 3 zone, I never died (except to hypothermia, duh), so they are the safest locations to begin with as a solo in my opinion. Shortly after start, well when I can, I like to tame Dilo as a pack mule and Ovi (one or two) as a egg thiefs. They are helpful, at least for me. But, looking at this Ovi reaction, which almost got a heart attack (poor dino, lol) when it saw you (that epic, bushy beard must be scary as f;)), that's very unlikely;). Ps: Im always building my main base on a cliff or a high ground. Good for defense, good for visibility and for air dinos too, albeit keeping large guys there is difficult.
