I think I greatly reduced my senescent cells. I did this by fasting-mimicking, while taking large doses of senolytics. I think the drop in IGF-1 and the high demand for protein facilitated an increase in senescent cell clearance...which was the plan. This was fantastic in some respects. I had a long history of cognitive performance testing (over a decade of roughly 1,000 bullet chess games a month, where I averaged the performance, and documented a very slight age related decline) and I got a great jump (that jump was roughly 5x all the loss I had seen). But, simple injuries would not heal, after. I had tennis elbow, or something like it, for a year and a half, and a thumb that I would re-injure repeatedly, and would not heal. However, when I added exercise roughly 2 years after, all of this went back to normal. I had to start very, very, slowly, because I was just injuring myself walking. I walked just 10 laps daily around my house, at first, and if I hurt something, I stopped and took a couple days off. After maybe 3-4 months, I was up to 50 laps. Then I started walking around a nearby lake. And now I feel fantastic, and I am hiking all the trails around the lake. I had tried a number of joint supplements, and 3 may have helped as well: glycine, TMG, and collagen peptides. I still have my increased bullet chess Elo. It did not help my absentmindedness, and does not help me find my keys. I need some other solution(s) for those. My flexibility is back. I don't ache in the morning, and can easily touch my toes. Heck, I can put my knuckles on the ground, directly in front of my toes. I can work on DIY stuff on the floor for hours and still feel no pain getting up. That pain started in my 30s. I am 55. My grip strength is off the chart for my age, 188 lb...which you can see my clicking my name. I have done a number of things to try to address aging, so I can't claim senescent cell clearance fixed everything that I have fixed, but I am convinced it was significant. I am sure I overdid it. I did that fasting mimicking + senolytics 4 times in less than a year. If I had it back, I would have done it once a year, or once every 18 months, and only twice. I have taken stuff that is supposed to extend telomeres...somehow I suspect it only extends the telomeres of white blood cells. I take antioxidants, even though that is not popular in the space now. I try to boost glutathione, and other antioxidants made in the body. The hardest thing I do, is try to greatly limit Advanced Glycation End-products in the diet and made in the body. I also try to reduce consumption of foods that have more lead in them. I think this is a largely unrecognized source of cardiovascular disease. I bought Dr. Fossel's book "Reversing Human Aging" when it came out. I studied it very carefully. This is probably why the video came up in my feed, having mentioned it time to time. I am glad the central premise turned out to be wrong. Extending telomeres did not increase tumor and cancer-like growth. That we do not have to completely master cancer to pursue the extension of telomeres. But it is not the cure to aging either. When mice had their telomeres extended, median lifespan only increased 12.75% maximum longevity increased 8.40%. It is something, but not a fix. Addressing just that is unlikely to be the solution to human aging, though there were nice health improvements in these mice. We really do need to address many sources of aging. And the Hallmarks makes it sound simpler than it is, because it merely categorizes, where within a category may be dozens of things to address. Extending human life does not seem that difficult, radical life extension several hundred years is entirely different. I still think extending telomeres is a positive thing, and is likely necessary for radical life extension, but is just one piece of the puzzle.
