Who decided on that crap soundtrack. 😂
Interesting video with nice shots of tge high embankments with the grown over trees. It's a pity the line is closed, as it could become part of the West Yorkshire Metro.
I used to play in both tunnels when I was young in the 70's The Clayton end was blocked off. I believe the portal would now show up in back garden of a house in Clayton if it was still uncovered. The Halifax end is / was open but it is now flooded to the top of the portal arch. There was some scientists that used the Halifax tunnel at some point so it was locked up for a few years. Queenie has quite a lot of history and is quite an interesting place. Thanks for posting.
Interesting but spoiled by the crap music !
Some good photographs, but that soundtrack? Effin ell.
The girder bridge across from Windhill Old Rd to Brackendale Parade/Drive had a wooden platform. Over the years people filled up underneath it with garden waste. Consequently when the bridge finally collapsed (or dismantled) there was quite a mound to clamber over. I also remember playing on Thackley station platform.
I was 10 when the line finally closed. Used to watch the trains between Shipley and Thackley, play on the line and be generally mischievous. The lines remained for some years after closing and we used to play on them around Cyprus Ave. / Brackendale
This should now be prude down before it collapses
Some nice memories. I left Bingley in 1981, our favourites were the Brown Cow & White Horse. Last back there this summer, spent a lovely September evening in the Brown Cow beer garden.
I lived there 1986 - 1997. Last resident was April 2014, he died at the house Pneumonia. Council owned it, and are a bit inept with doing anything with it. Those statues date from 1989! P.S>, i do exploring too on my channel, but haven't bothered with it much since 2014, check it out for more bits in the area you may or may not know about.
Around 50 yrs ago I remember there was shunting done at Idle. As a kid I would go up to the tracks at Idle and get to ride on the footplate of the steam locomotive that did the shunting.... Happy there was no health and safety back then. Now one would never know there was a railway shunting yard at Idle. Totally redeveloped
i would have loved to have been around back then to have seen the railway up and running.
I used to pass by the old Carnegie library weekly, had no idea what it was. Amazing video but very sad too👍
unfortunately there is an abundance of building in that state.
Did you manage to get in 😃
not as yet but i do plan on at some point if i can.
its nice to see someone digging round and uncovering more of what we cant ordinarily see, which of course reminds me of time team when they uncover early 19th centuary industrial revolution things......after all titus salt & jnr was indeed a major part of that revolution
I'm in texas and we don't have great things like that to explore. I'd be out there for days with my metal detector.
My parents were interested in buying North Lodge when it was a shell around 1981 ish. It was vandalised a lot on the inside but the external was still pretty good.
i remember playing in it when i was a kid was in a right state on the inside.
👍
Super interesting!
Glad you think so!
Great little video that 👌
I should have really planned it could have done a bit of research then. Thankyou though
It’s absolutely fine as it is .. what a beautiful house that must have been!!! If only Milner looked in a similar state eh take a lot of guess work out !
Walked the full length when we were kids with no torches .... must have been early 80's .
Had a drink or two in those pubs over the years.
Me too. A shame some have changed though
@@explorewithme525 yes it is ,same as Shipley.
Don't get me started on Shipley lol. I am on with making a video on Shipley at the moment.
@@explorewithme525 I'm in Saltaire so looking forward to seeing it.

Wow it’s so spooky and pretty. I love it!
looks like it may have been bought now aswell.
The hall is built on top of the priory, the ground floor of the priory acts as the foundations for much of the hall, rather than dig down to make foundations,,they raised the ground level around the priory and then terraced that as they were landscaping the area. The ground level of the priory was closer to the level of the mill. The remains of the priory now form much of the cellars to the hall and there’s places where they have fitted glass floor so you can seat down to the priory. The priory church was treated in much the same way but is the foundation to the barn behind the hall. There’s a few remnants in the woods from the 12th c priory too
The fulling mill is much older than the hall, it’s a part of Esholt Priory which was on the site of the hall until the dissolution of the monasteries.
I heard some were that when the tunnel was first opened in the 1920s some local counselers came through the tunnel from Frizinghall to esholt in a small boat, And a worked at the plant was heard to say "here comes the first load of S@#T now" lol never change do thay.
years since i was there and its my home town lol. talking of keighley, as you will have seen dalton mills was burnt to ground by 5 youths sadly,...another large bit of history gone....yet again points out the importance of documenting historic things before stuff happens to them. sadly spoils it for urbexers as the buildings bacome more restricted and if people are seen near by they get reported in fear of such destruction.
facinating pieces of mechanics that if you didnt have respect for it would have your limbs. went there a few times on school trips & family outings. although i didnt recon much of the history at the time, i rather enjoyed seeing these old machines in action.....still do in these types of videos.
Well said
Interesting video! I'm local to this area and I never knew there was that much remains. It would be very interesting to see what's in those underground passages that you showed.
I went down there a few year back but under there is only one room and there is nothing to it
Glad you enjoyed it!
I explored the cellar part and it’s simply remains now. A lot of spiders
I went down the other day no spiders now lol. I plan on a trip down the stable block cellars I think they might be in a bit better condition under there. Only one way to find out and that is to squeeze my beer belly down a little hole lol.
@@explorewithme525 yeah, it’s a shame that it got demolished as it could have added to Saltaire massively
Thanks for the upload. Never got a chance to film 🎥 it myself.
Any time!
Very interesting pal. I used to often used to play around there as a kid. You could easily access the cellars in those days. I never thought what part of the building was what, as it was just a playground to us but interesting to find out from you. The piece of steel looks like a vertical door bolt/lock to me.
Hello thanks for your comment. It was a playground for me when I was young. Used to play in there on my way home from school when the top gate house was still in lived in. It was great fun. And then CE the empty factories and shops pubs and what ever else when work first got underway on the bingley trunk road. Gotta say it all made for a good childhood.
This channel is so underrated
Thankyou. I'm still learning with all this

17:30 looks like the old water wheel/power wheel houseing and pit. at one time in the mills hayday it would have had a steam powered large wheel, or a water wheel, to power the spinning/weaving machines. this mill was a worstead steam power mill before been stripped to is prior modern use.
didnt think you were getting in there, looked sealed tight. old-ish building too due to stone and not brick...possibly WW1 era looking at the interior tileing. school was in use until 2010 hence green fences outside which are fairly new & standard issue. arson took place 30th OCT 2018.....'mischief night'.....sounds about reight. If only those that trashed the place spent time at school normally, they might learn to not be arsonists & thugs that cant walk a meter without braking something.
You have a Great channel running here , and very similar to mine. Keep up the good work. From your friendly neighbour. Subbed!
Thanks very much not. Added much in a while been a really busy few month but I have some content in the pipeline. Thanks for subscribing
1200m long with a brick wall in the middle...... Did that in the 90s both tunnels. Good memories
Was a bit of a shame I couldn't get all the way Through
Looks good babe ❤️
1938 Fr. John Hawkswell took charge of Bingley, and his first work was the opening of the Mass centre at the beautiful church of Christ the King in April 1940. The little church, in Crossflatts is a chapel of ease to the Sacred Heart Church, Bingley, and was originally built to serve a new housing estate that the council was proposing to build but the development was eventually switched to Cottingley. The homely and attractive little church, built by the grandfather of international show jumper Harvey Smith, has still filled a need in the community over its 50 years and its 200 to 250 seats are regularly filled for services. The church was consecrated on St George’s Day in 1940. The Bishop of Leeds, the Rt. Rev. David Konstant con-celebrated Mass with the parish priest, Father Ken Taylor, former parish priests and other priests of the diocese. Playing the organ during the service was be Pat McKenzie who, as a young girl, played the organ at the official opening of the church. Following the service, a celebration meal had to be served at St Cuthbert’s Church hall, Wilmer Road, Bradford, as unfortunately they were unable to use the hall at the Sacred Heart Church. Woodworm had been discovered and a new floor was being laid. Another problem facing the Bingley congregation was that the church roof was found to be fatigued. Although the tiles could be re-used, it would require quite a lot of work done to it, including new lathes, felt and lead flashing. The work would cost about £18,000. Bishop Gerald Moverley concelebrated the Mass for the 40th anniversary of Christ the King on 23rd April, 1980. At the 50th anniversary of Christ the King, Crossflatts Mass was concelebrated with Bishop Konstant. Regrettably, the Church of Christ the King, Crossflatts, closed after Mass on Sunday 13th August 2006.
I never even knew that was derelict bud what a shame. It will probably get burnt down soon anyway
@@Breakingthechain_s its been empty 15 years now. Its already had a fire thought I best get a bit of filming done before it's either burnt down or demolished

Very reminiscent of Rebeca's opening lines. A place I loved!
We used to do weekend camps there with the boy scouts in the late 1980s. I can tell you a thing or two about the place.
