Переглядів 175 тис.16 днів тому
The ‘70s was a decade of bold defiance and unforgettable grooves. From the flower power of the late ’60s to the gritty, rebellious punk rock wave, music was more than just entertainment-it was a movement. Yet, for every anthem that lit up the airwaves, there were tracks deemed too hot to handle. Songs that ruffled feathers, challenged the status quo, or simply broke all the rules. What happens ...
15 Bands From The 1960s YOU ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT!
Переглядів 34 тис.25 днів тому
The 1960s gave us The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Beach Boys-names that feel as timeless as the songs themselves. But here’s the thing: for every legendary act, there were dozens of bands that burned bright, fast, and faded just as quickly. This video is a love letter to those forgotten gems. Join us as we discuss 15 bands from the 1960s you may have almost forgotten about. Let us know...
Lola wasn’t banned ?
I figured from the Beatles album Rubber Soul, " Run for your life " Or, Jimi Hendrix "Hey Joe" would have been banned too. Both songs were great.
the phrase "never managed to replicate" used 10 times..
The Knack - I remember at middle 90s their great hit being revived in a movie called Reality Bites by Wynona Ryder; in fact, the band recorded a music video alternating their look at that point along with the original looks when they first recorded the song, it was awesome ! Thanks for sharing this info !
I liked: In The Year 2525.
You miss one very important song, Bennie Mardones into the night that was a controversial song.she’s just 16 years oh, leave her alone they say, separated by fools who don’t know what love is. wow, can’t believe that song didn’t make it on this list.
Summer 72, Chuck Berry played a little bay side beach park south of Annapolis Md, my 9th grade, my dad took me and buddies, excited to see any black guy, Savoy Brown was supposed to open, but got busted, radio stations said a new band west coast, we never heard of... Blue Oyster Cult.... Tyranny & Mutations... was great...when Chuck took the stage, audience handed up lit joints... he puffed!!!! A covered open air venue, BOC guys came out and got high with him on stage... finally.... MD state troopers shut it down!
17:00 Looking Glass, they were a jazzy kinda proggy band before Brandy hit. Worth checking out. Brandy was a hit, not even a top 5 song for Looking Glass.
I can’t believe THE BEATLES got away with “I Saw Her Standing There” lyrics “WELL, SHE WAS JUST 17, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. AND THE WAY SHE LOOKED WAS WAY BEYOND COMPARE. SO HOW COULD I DANCE WITH ANOTHER. OH, WHEN I SAW HER STANDING THERE I know it was in the 60s but still?
There are absolutely no offensive lyrics, nor any vulgarities, to any of these included tracks on the list. Some of these songs were tied, directly or indirectly, to some controversy. Maybe, maybe not. I don’t study that bs because “Hotel California” had some alleged connection to Satanism. What…ever.
You lost me at mispronouncing Pete Townshend's last name. It's not pronounced the way it's spelled.
More AI nonsense. Harmless songs that played all day long in and after the 70’s
You should really Google how to pronounce "Apartheid"
David Peel ~ Up Against the Wall (1968)
I'm surprised that "Timothy" by The Buoys released in 1970 was not included since it hinted at cannibalism & was banned by many radio stations.
Since when were these songs controversial? I guess anything for a click, huh
You forgot about brother Louis by the stories that won’t ever be played on the airways anymore
Right if you don't like it change the channel
Yet every other hip hop track today features n&gg#%, bi$%ch and f*(&k ad nauseam and no one bats an eyelid.
starmer song banned by the far left outlet bbc but they happily played a rapper abusing girls etc
Heard all these songs on the radio...In the midwest! Dont remember any bans...
Dont remember any of these songs being banned in the 70's. here in the USA. The woke people a couple of years ago decided that the Rolling Stones "Brown Sugar" was racist and should be banned, and the Rolling Stones stopped including it on their tours.
Yet The Stones removed Brown Sugar from their play list for wokism.
The Stones have officially retired Brown Sugar.
There was nothing wrong with these songs
3:16 who is that man in the video? it's not John
Interesting list...but what about Hurricane by Bob Dylan?? Here in Australia that song was completely banned to be played anywhere but after a while it was allowed to be played between midnight and 2am!!
Noted! We’ll cover this one in a future video. Stay tuned. 🙂
The Strawberry Alarm Clock's guitarist Ed King went on to join Lynyrd Skynyrd. King wrote the music to "Sweet Home Alabama" among other hits.
I didn't know that, thanks for the info 👍
Even though they were from the 60s, Paul Revere and the Raiders had a number one hit with "Indian Reservation" in the summer of 1971.
Archie Band were performed by the Wrecking Crew studio musician's.😊
Greenbaum was goat heading when he recorded Spirit in the Sky.
01 Lola - Not banned in The Netherlands. Was considered very funny. 02 Imagine - Not banned in The Netherlands. Was sung in my church. 03 Brown sugar. Not banned in The Netherlands. Rolling Stones are very popular in The Netherlands. 04 Walk on the Wild side - Not banned in The Netherlands. Very popular in The Netherlands at that time. 05 God save the queen - Not banned in The Netherlands. But this might be a specific UK thing. 06 I am woman - Not banned in The Netherlands. Don't know/remember how popular the song was back then. 07 Money - Not banned in The Netherlands. Pink Floyd was (and still is) highly popular in The Netherlands. Stop adding additional comments now ... 08 You are sixteen. Not banned in The Netherlands. 09 Street fighting man - Not banned in The Netherlands. 10 Love to love you. Not banned in The Netherlands. 11 Tie a yellow ribbon ... - Not banned in The Netherlands. 12 My ding-a-ling - Not banned in The Netherlands. 13 The pill - Not banned in The Netherlands. 14 Jailhouse rock - Not banned in The Netherlands. Granted, the ban by South Africa also did not resonate in the rest of the world. 15 War - Not banned in The Netherlands. Concluding: The Netherlands, contrary the USA, is a land of freedom of expression. No just in name, but in deeds.
Brown sugar was the name for brown heroin that needed no acid to dissolve your fix, now and then
Physical came out in ‘81
I had to explain Lola to a few friends. Lol
Banned? Don’t understand what you are talking about!
Banned in certain countries/radio stations/ tv networks/etc. Not all around the world and across the board.
I find it interesting that I am Woman was considered provocative, but I'm Every Woman is not ?...I Love to Love You Baby had sexual innuendoes, but Love Won't Let Me Wait...which was far racier (and a lot more moaning - IMHO) different ears, different opinions, I guess.
7:04 the screen shot of the two actors with the word "Taboo subject in the 1970s" is from the Australian hit soap opera No.96. Great show.
All these songs are alive and well on our oldies station in Erie PA!
to all the commenters that heard these songs on the radio back in the 70s and say that therefore the songs weren't banned.... a song can be banned by one station, corporation, government, whatever. doesn't mean it is banned everywhere. context matters. jeez, binary thinking has become a pandemic.
AGREED. Thanks for support.
None of these songs were banned. Many of these songs got a lot of air play. Take a Walk on the Wildside and God Save the Queen weren't AM radio songs.
I have to admit I had no idea what Lola wa about. I was 17.
I don’t remember any of these songs being banned 😮
Btw... Disco did not stand the test of time. Most rock stations didn't play disco, because had they, they would have lost their listeners. Most rockers hated disco.
I don't remember Lola being banned. We could still hear it on FM stations, and buy the album from record stores. :D
Click bait, aside from a maybe few radio stations, none of these songs were banned in the U.S.
Today, Imagine is one of the most played and loved songs! The young aren't religious or patriotic and are waking up from the fog Humans force upon themselves bc they fear their own shadow!
When I started listening to music, it was the Beatles with the song "I wanna hold your hand." Now, music is ruined with that rap bullshit and stupid songs by some Swift chic.
It’s mor3 than realistic now
Lola was never banned, they just had to change the ‘offensive’ lyric.
