If the Russians are just backing out beyond some artillery range, but send in moving patrols then they still control the area, If it gives a chance for a temporary bridge to come back up over the dam , and cross the Dnipro in other places, could be half of a pincer movement with the other coming down through the Vasylivka - Tokmak area to push the frontline back to Crimea.......
