Hi Michaela, I really enjoy watching your videos, thank you so much for them! I was wondering if you could advise the name of the pattern for the brown mitts you show in your opening sequence? Every time I see them I want them!
I once read a children’s book where the main character’s name was Terpsichore and she didnt like when people pronounced it TERP-sick-core. She said it is pronounced Terp-SICK-o-ree. Fyi 😃 Cute sweater for your daughter.
Olá Mikeila, following from Lisbon Portugal 🇵🇹, just discovered your podcast and loving watching it while I slowly come back to knitting 😊
I ❤ your shawl, I am going to look it up;somehow missed it! I love Sari Nordlund, and have only knit the taival hat, which I really like, and it looks like your shawl would look good with it. I have a Fanny pack with bear spray too!
So happy this video got recommended to me! This style of video (a bit of a vlog with nature and knitting) are my absolute favorite!
How lucky to have found a knob that says "Sweaters" on it! Your shawl is lovely!
Your daughter’s sweater will be stunning-love the colours! Your scarf /shawl is also beautiful. You are a very talented knitter and also seem to knit a lot for other people so good to see you knit for yourself.
Isn’t it so neat that we can adjust our knitted clothing for different fits…especially for children’s wear. I hope that you are feeling well. This was a soothing and peaceful podcast that reminded me to “mind” my surroundings. We continually talk about change being difficult, but we and our world are continuously changing. You are right. A lot of us seem to tune out the evolution that is happening around them. My theory is that our brains can only tolerate so much stimulation and the outside world is easiest to tune out when existing in a “concrete jungle.” Sorry about the philosophical spit up. I appreciate your tone and talents. I enjoy your eye for color and ear for sounds of times past.💗💗
Your shawl is just stunning! It's so Christmassy and only reminds me of Mr. Tumnus in the best way (he was always one of my favorites)! You truly did an amazing job! Looking forward to slowing down and getting in lots of knitting time and rest over the winter season. Happy knitting to you dear!
We had our first big snow in Edmonton so the desire to knit cozy things are upon me. I think I will start a pair of colour-work leg warmers.
Love watching your videos ❤ it’s so nice see all your gift knits, you have such a kind heart (and very blessed friends). I’m originally from California and have lived in the Uk for almost 30 years, it’s so nice hearing you talk about all the places you’ve visited here. 💕
Take your time❤. You come first and we can wait.
So many cute baby projects, your friends sure are blessed.
Amber from A Lovely Yarn sent me over here! Glad I found you! I’m originally from BC but now live in the Midwest of USA
That's so lovely that she mentioned me! Thank you for watching, fellow British Columbian!
LOVED "being with you" in your greenhouse! What a stunning background. Always a joy to see what you're up to! Loved how you styled your Blouse and turtleneck... I'm going to have to try that out myself. and it matches so well with your daughter's stunning dress! :) Happy knitting friend!
Love the Icelandic sweater. Your husband looks adorable wearing it. I love knitting things for my husband. For a while I was knitting for myself and friends, and didn't think my husband felt neglected. Now I make sure I knit for him every once in a while.
For the V Neck slipover I think I saw someone else use elastic and it worked! Might be worth trying before ripping out? Thanks for your podcast! ❤
Your baby knits are so cute.
I had the same problem with my Stockholm slip over (round neck version). I ended up doing the arm bands a second time with significantly fewer stitches and it worked out. Good luck!
If redoing the armhole ribbing doesn't work, you can possibly try seaming in some bust darts, either horizontal around bust height, with the point ending at least an inch away from your apex (so a wedge starting at the armpit heading towards the center of your chest, like >). Or vertical bust darts under the armpit (like a V). Or, you can try pinching in a wedge of fabric from the shoulder seam (to shorten the length of the arm hole but leave the neck side the same shape). Basically, put it on inside out and start pinching fabric at different places and when you find a spot and amount that eliminate the gaping, pin it down and you can do some tacking stitches. Ideally, you'll be able to do some hand seaming to fix the issue without too much extra bulk where you place the darts (which in normal sewing you can trim away, but obviously that's not ideal with hand sewn fabric).
Take care of yourself. We will enjoy your episodes whenever you are up to doing them. If the dye lots of your daughter's dress don't match, you could weave a narrow width satin ribbon along the join between colors on your daughter's dress and tie it in a bow to make it part of the design. Lovely baby bonnet! What a beautiful gift! On your vest, it is predominantly the front armhole curve where the excess fabric exists. Some quick reductions in stitch numbers in this area should make it curve closer to your body. What a lovely way of keeping in touch with your friend. An Advent calendar shows that you care.
Sometimes life is hard, and even the fun things feel like dealing with rocks and weeds. May God comfort you in the hard times- a bruised reed he will not break and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
So great to see you again! The decreases you did on your friend's hat are my go-to method. If I purchase a hat pattern and it has a different decrease style, I'll sub in the six section style instead. I don't know if you already own it, but "The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns" by Anne Budd (I think it's an Anne?) is invaluable as a quick and easy resource. On your vest (slipover), I think a 20% decrease in rib stitches should look just right.
Thanks for the book recommendation! I haven't actually heard of it, so I'll definitely be looking it up!
Take care of yourself….i hope your knitting will be therapeutic for you and not a source of stress. Your friend’s advent calendar is amazing-what a wonderful gift!
Good morning. I just finished that slipover as well and encountered the same problem. My fix was to redo my cast off edge. Instead of casting off in ribbing, I went down a needle size and knit a row in stockinette then I cast off plain, not in ribbing. I kept the tension fairly tight, not enough to pucker but enough to stop the gaping. My version is for a man and there is still lots of room for shirts. I didn't need to fuss with the neck or hem, my normal cast off worked fine there. I hope this gives you an idea of things you might try. I was going to try threading fine elastic through the ribbing as another option but it wasn't needed. I hope all is well with you.
Yarn for the slipcover is so cool. I think the gaping is what is called a ‘drag line’, which is less noticeable in sweaters because the sleeves prevent the gape but is only solvable by adding breast darts. Tighter ribbing/less stitches should tone it down without pulling back that far, I agree. Already looking lovely, though!
That makes sense! Thank you! I plan on redoing the side ribbing with less stitches.
I love that dress for your daughter! You'll have to take lots of pictures of her in it.❤📸 I hope your vest fits much better after your modifications. I wondered if you could just add some elastic on the inside in that area? I know people do that for loose necklines. I love the idea of making one for your daughter to match! 💞 I think you could just make your hat in the same design as your friend in the U.K.'s hat. I love the spiral at the top. Very nice! I'm praying that your health improves and you are able to find joy in knitting once again. I love your podcast! ❤🧶
You’re doing a great job! Take whatever time you need for yourself, we’ll be here patiently waiting. Your health comes first, always! Cutest little garments ever!!
So glad Amber from A Lovely Yarn podcast mentioned your beautiful channel! I love your content and esthetic. The Icelandic sweater is stunning and is so special with the memories of your trip. Can't wait to see what you choose for yours.. Yay Team Canada podcasters unite! Thank you for your wonderful episode. Btw, Beehive in Victoria also carries DeRerum Natura... it is such an amazing yarn line.
Hi, Briggs and Little is a woollen mill in New Brunswick🇨🇦. It has a very long and interesting history. They make lovely yarns.
Hello Mikeila! I’m Meghan from the east coast of Maine in the US. I am a lobsterman’s wife and we live right on the Atlantic. I have so enjoyed watching you talk about your knits. I love that you knit for your daughter 🤍 What special momentos you are creating with such incredible memories (even if only for you right now). I have four boys and I love to knit for them although I don’t do it as often as I would like. I’m looking forward to catching up on all your episodes!!
I totally understand how you feel about gift knitting and being or not being knit worthy. I recently saw a podcast by savanknits and she said that we cannot control how someone cares for or receives something that we’ve knit for them. We know that a lot of time and often love goes into our knits but when we give it away we need to release our emotional attachment to the item and move on. That really struck a cord for me and I think that the last thing we would want is to harbour resentment.
@@donnarossignol5695 That’s really good wisdom! I think I definitely need to practice letting go and accepting that it’s out of my control after giving it away. Thank you for sharing that!
You can, also, cut the sleeve and then knit the ribbing from the top down and bind off.
not sure if you ever go to Kelowna but Art of Yarn also carries that yarn... but if you need it shipped then it's the same as ordering from Ontario.
Congratulations on finishing your husband's sweater! The hike was a lot of fun! I really love the yarn for your pullover. I agree that a simple pattern really showcases that beautiful yarn. ❤🧶
I think the beach day shawl is beautiful. I love lacework and I think that would be perfect for one skein, but if you want it for warmth lace might not be the right choice. Most of my knitting is for others, like 90% at least, but it is frustrating when people don't seem to appreciate it. Knitting is such an investment of money, time, brain space... It needs to be appreciated! ❤🧶
@@sibleyhoneybee427 thanks for the recommendation! I will look into that pattern to perhaps do in the future!
Thank you for sharing your Flock haul. I can't wait to see your cushion cover in all those beautiful pastels. Your baby sweater cast-on is adorable.❤🧶
Hey there. I came here from Amber of “A Lovely Yarn” podcast and it’s fun to see you live in my hometown. Good job on the Tundra sweater. I enjoyed your podcast!
@@emilylee9441 Oh really? Are you from Chilliwack too?? That’s so cool!
@@galanthusknits Yup, a wonderful place to live:)
@@emilylee9441 It is! I grew up here, moved away for a while and now I’m back. It’s a beautiful area to call home 😊
I have knit and crocheted 12 baby blankets for my son’s friends and friends from church. There is nothing nicer than seeing the picture of newborn baby wrapped in their baby blankets. I am going to be a granny in the January so after years of knitting for babies it is a joy to knit for my future grandchild. First time watching your podcast enjoyed hearing all your plans. The baby cardigan is absolutely beautiful ❤️🧶
@@janetjohnston5455 How exciting to be becoming a grandparent! My daughter is the first grandchild for both my parents and my husband’s parents, and they say that it is just so special! How exciting to be able to knit & crochet for a grand-baby!
Your swallowtail looked beautiful over your black dress. I hope you make it again with the front shaping you talked about. I'm glad you weren't challenged by that bear! I loved hearing Eloise in the background. Baby voices are so precious!❤🧶
@@sibleyhoneybee427 Thank you! I am hoping to re-knit the swallowtail vest with my new modifications when Spring comes :) And thanks for saying that. I really enjoyed including a bit of her voice in this episode since she was around ☺️
Knitcheek just had a video comparing Ravelry to Knit Note for storing patterns, notes and her stash. It was interesting.❤🧶
I love my 9" circulars for socks. I always have a pair on my needles. Your cumulus blouse looks very nice.❤🧶
I only just found your podcast through Amber of, A lovely Yarn podcast. She mentioned that you knit for your daughter and other babies and kids so I headed right over and decided to start from the beginning. :) you have made so many beautiful things! I love that sunflower sweater and all the bonnets. I love bonnets on babies and littles, so charming and they keep them on! I have 7 children with another due in December and have been starting to add in some fresh knits so he has a few new pieces to add to what i've made in the past. It was good for me to hear your thoughts on the Willum's overalls, I hadn't looked that closely at the pattern and was thinking of making them...might try a different pattern now, or modify it somehow. :) anyway, just wanted to say hi and I'm looking forward to watching the rest of your episodes and getting all caught up!
Thank you for watching! I hadn't seen Amber's newest episode yet, so it's so lovely to know that she mentioned me! Baby knits are so underrated! But they're so useful and so satisfying to create! You're so incredible to have 7 (almost 8) children and knitting for them! Wow!! That's amazing! I feel so honoured to have you watching 🤍
Hi and thank you for your podcast 🧶💫 I am from Denmark ☺️
Thank you for watching! I have been to Denmark twice! It's a very beautiful country!
So sweet of you to knit some little things to bring joy to a family going through a tough time.
I found your channel from Amber of A Lovely Yarn. Absolutely loved your content ❤
@@mendyelliott9495 Thank you so much!
Lovely video! Your knitting is lovely and your garden great. your husband jumper is awesome
Love your podcast, thank you for sharing all of your beautiful creations ❤
i also use plain color for complicated pattern and tweedish yarn just for the variation with simple pattern. I'm not really into tweed irish style, too busy is a good expression;
When i run out of yarn, i just knit contrasting yarn, don't you think about a cream color for the end of the baby dress ? especially if you had a little fancy pattern for the transition ?
Beautiful knits ! If you can't get more wool for your little girls dress you could maybe just make a jumper out of what you've get. It's very pretty already! 🤩
Thank you! I have considered that!
