I may confirm that every PC DVD writer can read PS1 and PS2 discs. You can even play these games using an emulators (it is legal, since you own original disc).

PS1 games are literally just CD'S with special modifications done to them. That's why it played as a music CD in the DVD player.

They were supposed to be red. I bought one of these when they were testing them out. They're red at first then turn black after 48 hours making them unreadable.
