I have 2 Elites, a 1984 125 running bike and 1985 150 needs carb and rear brake and both cost $300. $1,200 for an 80 would be low and I mean LOW miles and body would be cherry. But will take that over anything chinese today.

You can find just about everything other than a new stator for them. Good luck when it comes to that, you'll be rewrapping it by yourself or spending 300$ for someone else to do it!

I like the honda aero better personally because there 2 strokes and go noticeably faster the elite looks nice and is comfortable there just to slow

I actually prefer the Chinese scooters, they cost less and it's easier to get parts if needed. They have a bad rap because a lot of the people who put them together don't do it properly. Mine was put together by the local dealer I bought it from, it has close to 2k miles on it and I haven't had any problems.

I have a few of these. I have pieced together a really good drive setup for these if anyone has had clutch or drive issues hit me up! I also am working on lowered, firmer suspension replacement parts for these.

Did SYM address the cracking turn signal pods issue? The same thing happened on my Lifan 110GY-3 Honda CT70 clone. Otherwise, it looks like a fantastic smaller bike, and for around the price of a mere scooter, it's worth a look see!

how do I spot one of the limited edition white ones you spoke of? I found a white 1996 elite 80 on craigslist and it's white. Is there something in the photo that could help me to identify if it's one I need to watch out for? Also, what is wrong with them?

Have you checked the transmission? Worn rollers will stop you from getting up to speed. Check the belt too.

I happen to own one of these "peices of shit" and if you have any mechanical knowledge what so evr you will know that the belt was breaking because that retarded shop did not put in a 5 dollar variator fan!!!! My scoot has 7789 miles on it and is still going strong! MAINTAIN YOUR SCOOTERS AND THEY WILL LAST CHINESE OR JAPANESESE OR WHATEVER!!!

It doesn't sound much louder or worse than the Hardly riders with their V-twins? I doubt that other states (i.e. where I live, AZ) would care too much; although the warranty would be a consideration.
