I'm thinking about doing this on my PD105 with ARL Headbolts. But if i do it this way i can't lower the compression through the thicker ARL headgasket. So its 19 :1 Compression instead of 18,5:1. Do you think that's an issue at around 210 Hp ?

Watching this after buying my 325ti also 2003 but pre facelift with the clear taillights in pistachio green ( champagne gold )... I thought my car was reasonably high spec but this is next level, my car does have the Cruze control and and the bc button and few other nice to haves like the auto dimming visor, but electric rear windows, I didn't even know that was an option, and a double din sat nav head unit... This is awesome spec... Thankfully my car was DIRT CHEAP, and low km's aswell as a bonus, 126,000km seller was selling in on behalf and didn't know the difference between a 325ti and a 318ti... So got it for $3500 less than what it's worth

Reliability? Read alot about the cambelt and other issues but thats kinda normal if you hammer it and put the engine under severe load which 98% of these cars are used for and improper driving/throttle technique

Great Video, i am doing a cam change on my TdI, and one thing i see being left out is, when replacing the cam, do i mark the position of the old one? i see you also placed the rocker arm in place, does it affect anything before adjusting the cam? i mean for the timing.

I have the late 2004 320d E46 almost identical to this and same colour, with the M47 in England and also the E90 mid 2007 with the M47 turbo diesel. Both titan Silver both 4 door saloon (sedan) both 6 speed Manual, it makes ALL The difference! You get a LOT more MPG on the Manual and it's a LOT quicker 0-60mph! I owned the e90 from new and the e46 about 10 years and I wouldn't change them the e46 base model with Msports package from factory and the e90 SE but fully loaded from factory with Msport everything and full leather sunroof every option I could think of from when I ordered it from factory, (purely as I preferred the look of the SE outside to the Msport model!) I can say that I wouldn't change either for ANYTHING! E46 my daily driver and e90 is ultra low mileage with an uprated ceramic coated hybrid turbocharger, so that's my keeper! Lol I may sell the e46 soon bit I've been saying that for 3 years and can't bring myself to part with it! Lol it's bullet proof and a joy to drive! Will beat any 325 petrol up to motorway speeds, if it's with a Manual gearbox option. And 60mpg on a run! They're amazing cars! I wouldn't touch the N47 e90 which was introduced to the e90 October 2007, so I'm glad I got mine a couple of months before that was introduced! They've gone right up on value lately as people now are realising what a hidden GEM they REALLY are! Much better than modern cars and modern BMWs for build quality! I've had a brand new M car as a courtesy car and a 330i as a courtesy car with only a couple hundred miles on and while it was nice for a week or so. The build quality was noticeably poorer than the older cars (especially my loaded e90! As that's got the comfort level with the Msport interior and leather etc and is like a new car still!) So summing up of totally agree with this video except for the manual box Id say is ALWAYS a better option both for speed performance driveability and fuel economy. Ps. The BMW main dealer said he's seen at least 2 cars with the M47 engine like mine with over 1MILLION miles on the clock!! (and STILL going strong!) THATS amazing! Cheers from London England 👍😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
