Big Agnes Ditch Rider 32 Litre Backpack Review
Great stuff Richard. Good video as always, very informative. Beautiful tent too, I'm edging more towards a teepee hot tent next as I already have the OEX Rakoon 2.1 and just recently bought the Phoxx 2
Thanks for your comments, its much appreciated. Now I’ve never tried a hot tent, so would love to hear how you get on. Who knows one day I might get one and do a review! With regards to the OEX tents, I hear good things about them, so definitely another tent and review to add to my list! 😀
no the cloud up 3 is the best tent,
The Naturehike Cloud Up 3 is an excellent tent 👍
I personally love this tent and have never had any issues with it. It’s given me many wonderful camping memories and in my opinion, I highly recommend it! 👍
Hi Richard, I've had this pillow for 2 yrs now and love it, I've had the smaller curved style ones, but this beats them hands down, ok it's pack size is larger and it weighs a little more, but the added comfort this provides is worth those few extra grams, also what I sometimes do if I want a little more height, is put my down jacket or any other clothing I'm not wearing, into the opening and that way they stay inside the pillow and your not losing them to the abyss at the side of your pillow and mattress 👍👌 great content been subbed ages, just don't think I've commented before, but I always give a thumbs up👍👍
Thank you so much for supporting the channel, it means a lot when your efforts are appreciated! With regards to your comments, I couldn’t agree with you more on all your points, well said!! 👍
The Trekology Aluft Ultra Inflatable Pillow. The biggest and best camping pillow Trekology have made, in my opinion anyway and for a very reasonable price! Great for restless sleepers or some one that wants to double up on there camping pillows.👍
Швы на тенте палатки надо приклеивать, пропускает сильно☔💦
I’ve personally never had an issue with any water leaking, however just add some seam seal if needed, it’s cheap and easy enough to do. 👍
Whats the difference between bugs and insects......
Bugs are part of the order Hemiptera, so in reality, bugs are a type of insect. Insects always have three body parts and six legs. They also usually have four wings and two antennae. “True bugs” have a mouth shaped like straw or needle.
Fantastic, informed video, very well done and put together. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you so much for your kind comments, I really appreciate it! 👍
@@outdoorswithrichard I know alot of work goes into what you did, and you did an excellent job of remembering all the information in your video takes. Am really impressed mate 👍
@@nealbe thank you! 🙏
Hi! Are there any R-value stated on this one?
Unfortunately as I mentioned in the video this mat does not have an R-value rating. It would definitely benefit from one! 👍
@@outdoorswithrichard Thank you!
Thanks for your review. I wonder how it would stand up to Australian heat?
Now that would be a good test! 👍
@@outdoorswithrichard and summer is on its way! : )
Lucky you!, it’s getting colder here in the the UK 🥶
@@outdoorswithrichard We'll be longing for some cooler weather before too long. I'm in the Blue Mountains so it's not too bad here though : )
looking for a new pump or upgrade on the one you've already got? I highly recommend this Flextail Max Pump 3, Well made, powerful and with multiple uses and at a sensible price. Whats not to like!!
Hi, do you think this bag would be a good travel bag for six months? Because I'm about to buy one for travelling, as I'm fed up with suitcases, and I'd like to have something small but puncture-proof.
I highly recommend this bag, it’s a good size bag with ample storage, without being too big, This bag is also incredibly comfortable when worn for long periods of time. The quality of the bag is second to none and I’ve had no issues with my bag since I’ve had it. Happy travels 👍
@@outdoorswithrichard Would you be able to help me with my choice as I'm hesitating between two bags for long trips lasting several months. The ditch rider 32L and the Osprey farpoint 40L
Both great bag with individual useful features, however the extra storage on the Osprey might be useful, but then saying that I’ve always preferred Big Agnes, as I personally feel it’s a better designed bag, however just my opinion!
WOW - pretty impressive especially for the price. Thanks for the great review and £36.40 for me.
Definitely worth every penny! 👍
Thanks nice looking mat brilliant review 👍
Thanks for your comment! I’ve been really impressed with this budget mat! 👍
This is a terrific mat! Well made, hard wearing and incredibly comfortable and at a budget price, what’s not to love! 👍
Good stuff Richard 👍
Thankyou! 👍
A great budget friendly hatchet, that will suit seasoned and newbie bushcraft enthusiasts alike 👍
Hello Richard. Where have you been?. I've missed you. I don't need a Hatchet but you have done some really useful informative videos 👍. Don't leave it so long next time 😊.
Thank you so much for your kind comments. Unfortunately with one thing and another I’ve had a crappy few months, but I’m back and rearing to go again, so will be back uploading more content on a regular basis! Thanks for your patience, your loyalty and support!, it’s very much appreciated!!! 👍
Hi Richard, I’ve had this bivvy for a few years now, it’s a brilliant bit of kit, I’ve been in some heavy storms in it and it’s never leaked. It’s like a mini version of my Gossamer 1. Cheers. Tony
Hi Tony, thanks for your comment. For the money, I think this is a fantastic bivy and like you I have owned mine and put it to good use in all weathers! 👍
LOL..lets do a review and not show the set up. LOL
The set up isn’t rocket science, I’m sure you could work it out!! 🤔
Good review! Thanks a lot!!!
Thanks for your positive comment, enjoy the channel 👍
I'm a total newbie....I could do with step by step video how to set up these things
Hi, these tents are very easy to setup, however hear is a link to how to set it up. You might not be able to understand the language, however it does give a good demonstration on how to set this tent up! 👍 ua-cam.com/video/3_0dRW7UDbY/v-deo.htmlsi=Fs9SVnhYgQ5WvMMj
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Nice presentation. I've kept the bubble wrap cover that the lantern came with in the one I purchased, then it doesn't rattle in the plastic protective tube so much.
Good idea! 👍
Ive recently bought the Elan. Good effort by Alpkit. Love the side zip. I agree the head is too low. I think the head could be raised up with a trek poles to save weight of poles - this would allow for larger head area and insect net. For me, I don't need raising at the foot end, but I'd like it wider at the legs becos I move my legs a lot in sleep. I dont peg it out. In extreme survival poles aren't needed - just need a bag to get into and close up. I guess like most bivvy bags it's for the person who's going minimalist & wants some sleep - not for "living in" like a tent
I totally agree with everything you say! 👍
I use a cosmitto but with a basha cant go wrong
if you wanted too could you use the pump as a dust blower if needed too?
I suppose you could 👍
Excellent review! I use mine for ultra cycling rides so I’m usually so tired I’m not bothered by the downsides and think the side entry is excellent. I agree a hoop at the feet end would be a great addition. I paid £109.99 in May 22.
This is a good bivy, however with a few tweaks, it could be great! 👍
Thanks ! This helped me. 🙂
I’m pleased you found the video useful! 👍
Great review…thanks
I appreciate your comment! 👍
56Euro ! WTF
It’s a well made, engineered table, but the price is ridiculous and you can get a lot cheaper, alternatives out there!
Could never understand the need for these.............but ended up buying an XL, why, I'm not sure; but now, I'm never without it, it's so versatile. Good stuff..........
Great vid. I’m considering getting this one (green cover) to use with my military groundsheet/ shelter. Great option! Wish had OD green & no white on the main tent
I’m pleased you liked the video. I love this bivy tent and I’m sure you will have many great adventures in it! 👍
Less than 30 bucks?
👍
Just bought one really pleased with it. Some might say a chair is a luxury especially for hiking or wild camping but at this weight I’m sure I’ll cope. There is a similar version with is a fair bit lighter but it’s more than three times the price. One issue I’ve heard though is it tends to sink a bit in soft ground there is a base cover that can be purchased for about 15 quid quite expensive considering the cost of the actual seat. Someone on here suggested using jam jar lids as a cheap alternative which Ill probably try before investing in the actual base cover Good honest review
Thanks for your comment. I love this chair, well made, comfortable, light and without breaking the bank, what’s not to like! Reference to the legs sinking into soft sand, I personally use a mat for the legs, this is the one I use! amzn.eu/d/8DU6khk You can use other things, but this mat is light and folds up small, when not in use! 👍
This was so helpful! Thank you!
Thanks for your comment, I’m glad you found the video helpful 👍
Great review
Thanks for your comment, it means a lot! 👍
Great review, very insightful. What groundsheet are you using underneath the bivvy?
Thanks for your comment, I’m pleased you found the review useful. The ground sheet I use under this bivy is just a piece of Camo coloured tarpaulin, which I purchased from Amazon! 👍
Ok thanks Richard, I just wanted something to help protect the base of the bivvy from damage. Obviously I’d try to clear the area I want to pitch it on, but sometimes bivvy and tent bases are not too robust.
@timec2002 Makes complete sense! Tarpaulin is a little on the heavier side, compared to the usual footprints. Amazon does offer some different size not too expensive footprints, if you’re after something lighter! amzn.eu/d/ik52QVE 🤔
Very good review. However there might be two issues. I'm also 6'2" and have the same body type. And... I'm also a side sleeper. This being said, @10:06 we clearly see that your top shoulder is almost matching the top of the bivi. And this is a problem since most air mattress are 3" to 4" thick. And when we see you with the full sleep system, you're on your back. So that worries me. Second: I don't know if it's because you've looselsy set the tent or not, but there's a lot of sag, so that worries me vs the rain. Again, very good review. Well done and thank you for that video.
Thanks for your comments and I totally appreciate what you’re saying. Unfortunately I personally feel no bivy is ever perfect, as we are all different in size and at the same time we all want different features in a bivy, however for someone that’s taller and broader, I’ve found this bivy to be the most generous in size and height! 👍
@@outdoorswithrichard The roomier bivi in this category and price range is the Eureka Solitaire AL (at the moment of writing this). And the weight is about the same. The hydro is way lees tho at 1800mm
@@outdoorswithrichard Absolutely! I'm 6'4"..............
Snugpack = condensation!!,
Bivys in general and condensation, go hand in hand. Part of the bivy experience 🤣
@@outdoorswithrichard …….and then I found the Dutch bivi bag!…and have never had condensation .
@@soldier-Dave I’ve heard good things about the Dutch bivy! 👍
A very comfortable and warm mat.
Thanks for your comment! I totally agree with you and for a budget mat, I don’t think you can go wrong! 👍
Excelent Review and Camera Work! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for your comments, I’m pleased you enjoyed the video! 👍
Very Good review, when you hike everybody need to cut on weight finally,so start with titanium items. Myself i do a lot of backpaking about 15/30 km a day and a backpack of 15 or 20 kg makes a lot of difference ,there is not much more else to cut on weight when everything else is also as light as possible (buget restricted offcourse).... I think its the neverending story that we always search for the perfect setup. .....daddy"s got a hobby.. familiar?? You only live once :)
Thanks for your comments and very well said! 👍

Thanks for your comment, I personally really like this bivy! 👍
Good show I have this bivvy I like it a lot thanks
Thanks for your comment. This is a good bivy, it just didn’t work for me!
So no need to seem seal or spray (waterproofing) it? It is waterproof as is? I'm on motorcycle steath caamping and size looks ideal!!! Just worried about it being waterproof and have no issues seam sealing / spaying to improve it if necessary.
Thanks for your comment! I’ve never had to seam seal mine and have had no issues, so far. You could seam seal a bit more for added protection if you wanted, but like say I’ve had no issues! I also however also put a tarp over the bivy as explained in the video!
